You can think of base 10 as powers of 10, so you've got your 1's place, your 10's place, etc.
For other bases, you've got something similar. In this example, the "1's place" is 1, the "10's place" is 8 (because it's 8 to the power of 1), the "100's" place is 64 (because it's 8 to the power of 2), etc.
I don't know if that explains it really well.

Thank you for your help. I am impressed with how well i did for the most part, out of 20 I asked for help with 4! For me thats pretty awesome!
