Let's see a show of hands for anyone interested in playing in a Savage Worlds conversion of a Pathfinder AP Play-by-Post, right here on these lovely messageboards.
I'm currently working on a rough Player's Guide, but all that I'd require from anyone to play at a minimum is the free Test Drive v6 from Pinnacle Games website, as the PG I'm making should have enough info to run a character.
Anyhoo, just post here if interested, and which AP you'd prefer. I'll post running tallies of the favorites every few days for a bit.
Thanks for listening!!

Oh man, I just got my Hellfrost Players Guide and my interest is high! ...I hate to commit though.

I have the Hellfrost PG too, and I love what they did with the magic system. I might pick up the two adventures for the setting done so far, and maybe convert them to take place in Golarion. We'll see....

Count me in as someone who's interested- also have the Hellfrost Player's Guide on hand, as well.
With a few interested folks in possession of the Hellfrost PG, I might go ahead and implement the magic rules changes from it. For those without, I could post the basics on how magic works (essentially, no Power Points used, Wizards' staffs are important foci for spellcasting, using most of the Arcane Backgrounds from the book).
I'll give it a few more days to see if some others are interested, otherwise I'll post a confirmation to round up who will commit.
Thanks, guys!!

For simplicity's sake, I am leaning towards running Rise of the Runelords, as this is a wonderful example of "classic" adventuring to me. This will allow all of us to learn the nuances of Savage Worlds rules, as well as address any issues that come up.
I'm almost done with the Player's Guide, so bear with me. In the meantime, for those already interested, go ahead and post a character concept you'd like to try. Then we can build characters once I have the PG posted.

Sounds good to me. Still not finalized on a concept yet though.
As an aside, though it might not apply for this game, there are some Savage Worlds D & D type conversions available.

thanks for the tip, but I have seen these. they are quite helpful.
The beauty of SW is that almost ANY concept can happen, and your character's abilities aren't limited by which class or classes you take.

JZ wrote:Being shamelessly selfish here: can we play the Legacy of Fire AP?Hmm....food for thought. I kinda would rather play that one, myself. I just figured RotRL might be easier for any players new to SW (me, to a degree!).
Anyone else prefer LoF?
Don't really have any preferences either way- specially since I'm somewhat new to the entire Savage Worlds ruleset myself. One suggestion that I could offer in such a case would be possibly mixing up the two paths(Runelords/Legacy) or rather the stuff/encounters found within either paths that would be easier for everybody.

They kinda stand on their own, I think. Good suggestion, tho. I might actually do some mixing up.
Anyway, I've made up my mind to go ahead with Legacy of Fire. Once I've finished my Player's Guide, I'll post the link to the thread here. Thanks once again for your patience.

Kinda interested. Already in a LoF and was really excited about Rise of the Runelords. Not familiar with system changes but can download the free stuff.
Excellent!
My aim is to keep the Savage World stuff simple, while maintaining the flavor of Golarion.
I'm almost done with my Player's Guide. I pared it down a bit, so it will only include new rules, and list new Hindrances and Edges.
I'm also going to use some of the magic rules from the Hellfrost Player's Guide (highly recommended!!), so I will try to post a brief description of how it works without violating copyrights!
Stay tuned!!!

No prob- whichever will make things easier for you.
Just an FYI:
I'll be working both days this weekend (I'm an ER tech) and Monday overnight, so I will most likely be unable to work much on the Player's Guide (we do 12 hour shifts). I'm hoping to get it posted by Wednesday of next week.
Thanks for your patience!
No worries- sounds good to me.

While I can't speak for Torillan about the specifics of his upcoming handout (when it comes), I can give a very brief overview of the magic system used in the Hellfrost campaign setting proper.
You've got your arcane magic stuff- in normal Savage Worlds, they use powerpoints (like d20 psionics), but in Hellfrost, you can use magic as much as you want to- unfortunatively, if you use it too much, you can "burn yourself" out, so to speak- even make that you'd never be able to cast very well again. There is a subset of arcane magic that doesn't have this problem, but is considered fairgame for killing by every npc out there.
Then you got divine magic stuff- the only control it has is that you have to follow your diety's strictures, or else you get into plenty of trouble. An example would be if you worshipped the god of vegans, and you somehow were forced to eat meat... that sort of stuff.
Then you got herbs- considered it's own magic, but it really isn't magical- and runemagic, but it's practiced by the Hellfrost Dwarves only.

And then you got your druidism stuff, but that's only open for the Hellfrost Halfling equivalents (Enekos), the Elves (two subraces), and the dwarves.
Finally, we get to the bards- in the Hellfrost campaign setting, everyone and their dog loves the bards- and they can do song-magic to boot.
While I hope that I didn't scare anyone off of the magic system used in Hellfrost, it's pretty flavorfully fun and matches it's "Frostburn"-like setting very well (which will probably be altered to fit into Golarion's sensibilites)- besides, I'm pretty sure I might've gotten a few things wrong. ;)

I bought the Explorer's Guide today. :D
As a player in one of the more long-running attempts at RotRL, I would say... don't plan on running an AP in PbP. It will not work out as you envisage. It's difficult enough to finish an adventure, let alone a series.
The best thing to do is try a single adventure and take it one step at a time. For an example, have a search for "Rune-Stones" and "Savage Blight" and "A Little Learning" - this is the best example I can think of.
Mind you, I would say that... I'm a player in it. :D

And just in case you dled the savage worlds testdrive, here's a little add-on pack to help enhance your testdrive; barring purchase of the "close2ten-dollarish" explorer edition itself.
