Scarab Sages

While John Connor's team keeps Skynet busy by striking down a staging base in LA, Your team will travel to radiated Capistrano, CA, to destroy Skynet's single left radar station in the area. If things go according to plan, Skynet is already too busy providing support to its LA operation to give much of a fight, but then, no plan survives contact with the enemy.

Game System: True20
Players wanted: 6
Date and Time: Fri Jun 12 @ 8:00am
Location: Open Gaming Area

Characters will be provided.

Oh. Man. I am so there...if you'll have me.

My one catch is: I'm running a PFS session at noon on that day so I'd probably have to leave at around 11am to get everything ready for that. How long were you thinking of running it for? Any chance I could play for the first part and either hand my char over to a bystander or have him/her die in some spectacular manner when I have to bug out?

I'd really love to join this one...but I'm happy just to come watch for a while if you'd rather have someone for the whole game.

I am also running a PFS game @ noon, so I should be wrapping up around 11:30 or so.

You're welcome to join :)

Sounds nice.
It looks like I won't be getting to the hotel until ~10am unfortunately,
but perhaps if there's a sequel episode later during the weekend... :-)

Ah! Glad to hear that. Yeah. I'm in - and for any sequels too! Sounds like a blast. Been waiting to get my post-apocalypse game-face on. :)

I'm have never played True 20 but I assume it's close enough to D20 that I can catch on?

This will depend on the event lottery, I selected events for all slots except Friday morning, I should've submitted this as a paizocon event :)

True20 is basically a d20 game, there are 3 highly customizable classes (expert, adept, and warrior), skills and feats.

The most significant difference is the damage system, which you can read about here:

http://true20.com/support/2007/02/true20-damage-and-recovery-clarifications .php

Got it. Rather a lot like Mutants & Masterminds IIRC (only played a six-session game). Thanks for the link. Will read up on the system.

I'm sort of in the same boat as you on scheduling. I'm running three PFS sessions and have signed up for a number of events. I'd like to squeeze in a Star Wars game but I'm not sure when to try to slot it in.

AFAIK, no events are scheduled Friday until 12 noon anyways, so you're in the clear :-)

Also, I'm still trying to get my room situation cleared up (i.e. solidifying a room share I need to be able to afford this trip including the flight), but it may happen that my room could be open to host a late-night session, or if a time-slot ends up being open during the day. The Sketch-Jam art event is being held in the hotel's restaurant/lounge which supposedly has cushy booth seats, and that could also be an option, though it's probably not open all night.

I haven't played True20, but have some experience in StarWars SAGA Edition,
and it sounds like it's not too much work to get up to speed.

DragonBelow,
I was just looking at Joshua Frost's post about the open gaming rooms and it looks like they're only going to open up at noon on Friday.

Quote:
At least three rooms of 4 tables each with 10 chairs per table will be open 24 hours a day from noon Friday through 5 P.M. Sunday.

I'm sure we could work out an alternate location though. I offer my room if nothing else - you can even lock up your stuff there until after our 12-4 PFS session if need be.

M

Yeah, the rooms don't open until noon and aren't even scheduled to be set up by the catering staff until 10 A.M. There is, however, a large area in the lobby by PAIZOCON registration that has tables and chairs and you're more than welcome to set up shop and play there.

RPG Superstar 2012

I'd like to play too. I volunteered for a 12 o'clock slot, so finishing up at 11:30 works well for me as well.

Great, that's 3 to go folks

I'm game! Here I was thinking I'd be bored until noon...

I am so looking forward to this! :)

BTW, DragonBelow, if you need them I've got some assorted robotish minis (from Heroscape, Star Wars, etc.) that might be of use. Don't know if you're planning on using minis but, if so, let me know and I'll bring a box of stuff that might be appropriate.

I managed to find a few, thanks all the same!

Need any other robotish minis? Dark Troopers? Some of the Huge SW vehicles?

I have it covered, thanks though!

Hi guys,
Where are we meeting up? Wearing old field jackets so we recognize each other?

[edit: I guess I should ask first if we're still on. Looks like all of the slots aren't filled? You want to run it with just three?

I'm still in. I just have to make sure I don't do much celebrating at the "After the Meet and Greet".

Scarab Sages

Hi,

Though I will be there on Thursday, I won't be going to the meet and greet.

I count 4 players signed up: mearrin69, taig, zylphryx and Derek Poppink.

If you go to the meet and greet, mention this game, perhaps we can still get a full table. Any characters that go unused will still participate as NPCs, and if your character dies, you can pick up one of them.

As for recognizing me, I will be the one with the true20 books near the paizocon reg. area or lobby, and wearing a Star Wars, Revenge of the Sith baseball cap.

Cool ... bright and early on Friday (1100am EST ... so it won't feel so bright and early I guess).

If you see a guy who has a passing resemblance to Penn Gillette in jeans and a t-shirt, that's be me.

Scarab Sages

The following information is passed on to new recruits, and repeated over and over in hopes that they will remember it when their lives depend on it, luckily you have been fighting terminators for a long time.

  • Radio silence is very important, if you have to break it use innuendo to confuse Skynet, unless that's exactly what you want...

  • The same trick won't work twice with Skynet, it's a damned fast thinking machine.

  • HKs are generally not very smart.

  • All Terminators are connected to Skynet, once a Terminator is aware of your presence, you can bet the others will be on alert.

  • Concentrated fire is the best way to take a Terminator down.

  • Always, I repeat, always make sure Terminators are down for good. Given enough time and fallen comrades, a terminator can repair itself.

  • Terminators know their weapons, and probably know better than you how much ammo is left in your clip, don't let them catch you off guard.

  • Terminators usually take on the biggest threats first.

Also arriving Thursday after the meet and greet. I'll be there in the morning wearing a brown Red Cross t-shirt.

I don't have any True20 experience, but if you'd like another player I'm interested.

No experience is required, if you have played a d20 game it will be easy

This was an awesome game. Thanks for running it for us! Wouldn't mind a follow-up next year.

Very fun game! Sorry I shut down the elevator, though, and that we ran out of time.

Thanks for an awesome game! Great way to start the con four hours early.

Seconded. It was a great way to start off the con. Thanks!

Good job Juan! I know you were dissapointed you didn't smash us to bits with the terminators, but it was a good time. :)

AiyyyY!!! Those SOB's killed my dog.

Poor Scoob-3. In retrospect it would have been better to let that sleeping mini-HK get its beauty rest...but I just *knew* it was going to wake up and shoot me in the back. Who knew it had missiles? :)

It really was a blast and there's always next year. I'm sure Skynet's not going anywhere anytime soon. ;)

You're right, "We'll be back" :D
