Then shouldn't the the entire topic of the quality of discussion on this forum be barred, since one can hardly talk about that without referring to posters that come to primarily give negative opinions. It would seem any discussion of posts that make this forum a poor place will always come back to discussing posters.

Well that started a while back when a few people started deciding who should or should not be here. Sorry man it's been what you call off topic for a while

I thought I was getting across that I use a combo of both, print copy at the game, pdf when away from the table.
I use both during the game.
But as far as searchable text goes, I guess I'm naturally gifted with remembering basic layouts of books, but I can generally find what I'm looking for before someone with a PDF. I've usually made it a race with the guy with the laptop (different guys at different tables) and I win 9 times out of 10.
Basically. But what if you half-remember a feat but don't know exactly where it was in? I bet the Acrobat advanced search over all Paizo PDFs is a lot faster than you going through the bookshelf!
KaeYoss wrote:Well I don't remember what it cost exactly but it was over $20 which is the breaking point for me on a PDF purchase. Especially if I've already paid for a dead tree format.
Just out of curiousity: How much did those 4e PDFs cost?
Not exactly coffee-price. But then again, I never was in a Starbucks, so it might be spot on.
Having to pay another 20 bucks when you already own the print version is ludicrous. That's why I never bought the PDF versions of 3e books. They were, in fact, more expensive than the print versions (since you could get better prices at amazon and so on).
wizards better wake up and smell the coffee (regardless of its price).

What discussion is that? That you bring more people to 4e? Or how does that fit the topic of PDFs?
KaeYoss |
Killed 4e PDF's as well did it not? and was not it the pirating of 4e books that caused said death of PDF?...Seems like it is related to 4E to me .
Since that wasn't the reason but just an excuse for wizards to pull PDFs for their own reasons, it's not really about 4e (or only maybe, depending on what exactly the reason was).
I really would make more sense in a more neutral part of the boards.

Well the Colin Mack affect is what I use to describe the actions of my older brother who has an interesting ability to turn you completely off of something just by constantly talking about it and telling you again and again and again how brilliant it is. For example The recent Watchman movie I was interested in at first but having spent two weeks listening to him go on and on and on about how great it is and how what bits have been changed from the book version pretty much killed any interest I had in going to see it.

Does it go something like this:
The new watchmen movie is GREAT!
You'll like it!
...
You'll like it! You'll like it!
.... You'll like it!
..You'll like it!
..You'll like it! You'll like it! You'll like it!

Scott,
You really need to let the moderators do thier job and stop worring about everyone else.
You take everything way, way, too close to heart. Chill out dude.

Pretty much yes and if you don't it becomes how can you not like x character or y scene there great. Living proof that sometimes someone can be way to enthusiastic about something.

Paizo doesn't have a moderation crew. When things get really out of hand - for instance, flagrant minority bashing - one of the staff steps in. But there is no regular moderation on these forums. They pretty much are required to regulate themselves. In fact, Lisa's message at the top of this forum warns that people need to keep themselves under control or Paizo would be forced to find moderators. This means that people need to avoid addressing individual posters personally.
And really, Herald, it's tough to not take something personally when your name is attached to it. If this thread isn't a perfect example of the sort of thing that gives the rest of the tabletop community the impression that the Paizo boards are unreasonably hostile to fans of 4th Edition, I don't know what is.

It strikes me that bringing up how awesome Watchmen is in day-to-day conversation, without prompting, over and over would probably get pretty annoying, pretty quickly.
Bringing up how awesome Watchmen is on forums dedicated to talking about Watchmen, however, strikes me as something that you ought to expect when on forums dedicated to Watchmen.
See where I'm going with this?

I hear that this kind of canine enthusiasm can be curbed by a simple procedure any veterinary can carry out. ;-)

Yeah really this is nothing, no bashing at all just discussion. Go to wotc boards any board and talk of pathfinder or 3.5 see how long it takes to mods to even notice the flames the 4e folks throw at ya. They may flag you for responding but you wont get any help from them
Now back to the subject maybe

Yeah really this is nothing, no bashing at all just discussion.
I find that a lot of times you are equally abrasive and just as problematic to this forum as they are.

Yeah, no bashing at all. Just discussion.
This thread needs to be closed or moved. Most of the rest of this board is doing just fine, but this topic continues to prove a blemish.
seekerofshadowlight |
No scott man your the one who seems to have an issue in it. So just stop posting in it. Its not a big deal, you made a statement and someone commented back, thats not bashing
Edit: I would like to point out Scott that it's nothing against you, It just that if you have an issue with this thread simply do not post. Discussions evolve and take form, if people in this thread wish to drift a bit that's not an issue. Trying to police it, unneedly has made the issue worse not helped it
If you think it violates the rules flag it and move on

Funnily enough, this seems to be the tactic of both sides, not just one.

There is a difference between bashing and stating an observation, there is also a difference between bashing and critisism, constructive or otherwise.
