Pity about Queen's Blade- after all, it was derived from Flying Buffaloes Lost World "dueling style" gamebooks, but more "good-girl anime style".

Here's one more that premiered this 2009: Guin Saga. Anime fantasy with a classic Howard/Lieber/Moorcock pulp sword and sorcery kind of spin, based off a successful light novel series in Japan. And like Brackett/Moore, the author, Kaori Kurimoto is female.

More info could be found here and here (transcript) .

::Crossing fingers hoping Valkyria Chronicles will be good::
Thanks for this thread man. Happy Easter!!!

Damn but Valkyria Chronicles is good. Thank you very much for the post.

Much obliged it looks interesting!

Basquatch is intriguing so far. Ethnic diversity (of a sort), a bizzare spin on the mecha concept, and a cute mascot character that farts in the face of the main character to knock him out/settle him down. That and it does a very good job of combining CG mecha footage with some very beautiful and quality standard animation.

So after two episodes of Basquash! I'm undecided. I'm not sure this is a "keeper" of a show or not. The animation, IMO, is wonderful. But a story of a kid trying to make it to the moon (for his sisters sake) playing basketball in mechs just isn't home for me.

Anyone else watch it and have an opinion?

Sengoku Basara, gotta admit I had high hope for this. But it just didn't hook me at all.

Dragonball Kai, a remaster (re-editied to fit with the manga) version of Dragonball Z. While a huge DBZ fan, is it worth watching from over again?

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, I think I've mentioned this before but... This is awesome! The story is supposed to be closer to the anime than the original series and after only two episodes I'm addicted. The animation and voice acting is great

Sorcerers use Charisma remember.

No real sorcerers use daggers! Or do we use charisma... From behind? I'll get this thing figured out sooner or... <<BOOM!!!>>

Yet another Chaos Bolt backfire

Well, you guys need to get my fat out of the fire.

But I thought dragons liked fire... or is that breathing fire?

Plus I hear roast dragonborn is popular around here. Goes well with carmelized Grell sauce

Just smack those grells.

<Looks at Karnn>

Plus I don't eat intelligent beings.

I'm handling the big brain as best I can. You need to ask those other guys for a hand. I mean there's only so much I can do at once. And your're the big on bro... Just hit'em till it dies!

Stunned at the moment.

Anyways I already put in place a safety measure should my hp reach 0 or below.

See that's why you're the smart of the group. My best plan is blow me and the enemy together!

I am just the barbarian.

Fullmetal Alchemtist: Brotherhood 3

Ah back in Lior

This is a kickass thread. Thanks for the links as well as the comedy, guys.

Unfortunately, subs for the Guin Saga episodes past the first have not been forthcoming. Fortunately, the raw, unsubtitled versions are available for viewing. While you might not get all the minute details, all the action in the episodes themselves are broad enough that you could piece together what's going on.

episode two non-subtitled.

episode three non-subtitled.

Aside from the one I posted earlier? Nope. None at all. Basquatch is a great hallucination that only you and I are having. Because you and I are the same people. Soylent Green People!

And now both episodes two and three of the Guin Saga 2009 anime has finally been subtitled.

Episode two can be found here and here.

Episode three can be found here and here.
