Gotta watch this series from the beginning. Hate MMO's, but this seems to be good, almost as good as .hack was.

And for those that want to watch it from the beginning, along with Freehold DM, you can watch it here. And speaking of MMO-based anime, there's also a Maple Story anime adaptation, which can be found here.

It's been awhile since I've watched a good anime series. What recent titles would the posters here recommend seeing, that have been released in the US either dubbed or subtitled? I've watched and enjoyed quite a few over the years that were fantasy related, in part because they gave me ideas for plots for my games, some of them humorous. These include Rune Soldier, Escaflowne, .Hack Sign and .Hack Roots, Lodoss War and one of the spinoffs, and Those Who Hunt Elves I and II (yes I admit to liking Those Who Hunt Elves), and a couple of the El-Hazard series. Slayers not so much. I also like science fiction, but I'm not into giant robots. Again, I'd be interested in any suggestions from among releases during the past couple of years.

As far a licensed goes, they've got Spice and Wolf and Tears to Tiara from Funimation, Queen's Blade to be released by MediaBlasters.

For unlicensed, they've got an anime based on the Young Adult Book series, Deltora Quest, found
here.

Another unlicensed anime, Sisters of Wellber, can be found here.

And that does remind me...

The final two episodes of Slap Up Party! Arad Senki anime, based on the Dungeon Fighter Online game, is now available for your viewing pleasure.

The 25th episode can be found here.

The 26th and last episode can be found here.

Just as an fyi, you don't have okay/download/install any webpage add-ons or ads to view these vids- if you can watch something on youtube without any problems, you should be able to watch these vids without any problems.

Never mind. Seems that site itself has loads more guides. Awesome stuff.

Good to hear. As for the seasons, I believe it's every few months that they have 'em. Currently, there's been another season started since this last thread but I'll leave it to better people than I to start a thread on that.

And the 10th subtitled episode of Konnichiwa Anne, the Before Green Gables anime adaptation can be found here.

A ranking of anime by their level of magazine exposure for the month of October yields some interesting results…

The ranking:

2. Hagane no Renkinjutsushi

3. Hetalia

4. Kobato

5. Gundam 00

6. K-ON!

7. Code Geass R2

8. Darker Than Black

9. Fairytail

10. Sora no Otoshimono

Crimson Jester wrote:
I'm atta loss. Could we perhaps get ..a review?

Out of all of those, the ones more readily known are the Gundams, Full Metal Alchemist (listed as Hagane no Renkinjutsushi), Macross, Code Geass, Darker than Black, K-On, and Fairy Tail.

Of the lesser known ones, Hetalia Axis Powers is an ongoing anime where the various countries of the world (circa 1940's) are personified into male anime characters, Kobato is the latest Fall 2009 magical girl offering by Clamp, and as for Sora no Otoshimono?

At first, I wrote it off as a "mysterious anime girl falls into an anime guy's life" series, but then, they had something happen in the fourth episode- flying, sentient panties. And that was all I need to know.

With a bit of thread necromancy, I gives you this:

The 21st subtitled episode of Slap Up Party! Arad Senki found here

The 22nd subtitled episode of Arad Senki found here

The 23rd subtitled episode of Arad Senki found here

The 24th subtitled episode of Arad Senki found here

The 8th subtitled episode of Konnichiwa Anne found here

The 9th subtitled episode of Konnichiwa Anne found here

At long last, the final 26th subtitled episode of Guin Saga can be found here; It all started with a forest fire punch and it ends with a ponytailed triple pwnch- a fine ending for an anime fantasy series as any. ;)

Nope, right now nothing new is planned for the series.
Well that sucks. Thanks for the confirmation, though.

While I've no real idea about how the storyline is, the recent Fall 09 offering, Aoi Bungaku, looks sort of like it'd fit in with the "noirishness" of Darker than Black and Ghost in the Shell, design-wise. Only the first episode got subbed, by the way.

Of course, if you want moar fantasy-type anime, Shin Koihime Musou might be right up your alley- if you don't mind taking the basic storyline of "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" (what Souten Kouro is partly inspired by) and changing all the main characters into cutesy anime girls and base it off a Dating Sim game... don't say I didn't warn you. ;)

And some lingering episodes finally get subbed-

Episode 25 of Guin Saga can be found here- so if you ever wanted to see the misbegotten "lovechild" offspring of a 4e Dragonborn and a 4e Tiefling, you shouldn't miss this episode. ;)

Episode 20 of Slap Up Party! Arad Senki can be found here- and for all those that are wondering, yes- that recent Nexon web-based game Dungeon Fighter that gets touted about in Popup/Border Ads is what this anime is based upon. ;)

Lazaro wrote:

Fairy Tail

Looks to be entertaining. Just noticed Plue, from Rave Master, in the opening.

And it seems to be another fantasy-styled anime series, which is always a welcome thing. ;)

Well, whaddaya know- they came out with both subbed versions of Guin Saga episode "Holy Reversals of Fortune, Batman!" 24, found here, and Shin Mazinger Shougeki Z episode 26- the final episode of the season, where "the battle was won but the war was far from over", found here.

Of course, if you're looking for something a bit more canadian, then look no further than the released subbed 5th to 7th episodes of Konnichiwa Anne, based on Before Green Gables prequel book to Anne of Green Gables. Those three can be found here (#5), here (# 6), and here (# 7).

With the new line up staruing I thought we could use a fresh thread.

Before getting bavk into a posting mood I have to thank U sank my Nice Boat for keeping the Spring Thread for going to long.

Now to get this started let's go with a recently released and subbed movie...

Bleach: Fade to Black!!!

No prob at all- glad to be of help. Come to think of it, should I just put any latest subs from the previous seasons (Guin Saga 24+ and Shin Mazinger Z 26+ comes to mind) in this very thread or keep them in the old thread?

Lazaro wrote:
The Sacred Blacksmith

And continues into the 25th subtitled episode of Shin Mazinger Shougeki Z which can be found here.

Of course, for those preferring something less mecha-oriented, the 23rd subtitled episode of Guin Saga can be found here.

And just as a side note, the second season of the NSFW Queens Blade series started up again as well.

And events seem awfully familiar in the subtitled 24th episode of Shin Mazinger Shougeki Z, found here.

Followed up by the 23rd subbed episode of Shin Mazinger Shougeki Z, found here and the 22nd subbed episode of Guin Saga, found here.

As an addition, the 12th subbed episode of Souten Kouro can be found here.

And in other recent fantasy anime news, Beast-Player Erin got it's official debut in subbed form over at Crunchyroll. It's from the same creator as Adult Swim's Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit.

And for those waiting, the subtitled 21st episode of Guin Saga and the subtitled 22nd episode of Shin Mazinger Shougeki Z have arrived.

The Guin Saga 21st episde can be found here.

The 22nd episode of Shin Mazinger Z can be found here.

Canaan is from Type-Moon?! Dammit, there's another one for me to watch! DX

Princess Lover is mindless fluff and fanservice with really good production values and humor, btw.

Canaan is somewhat tangetially related to Type-Moon by way of some of the same people behind Type-Moon being the same ones behind this anime. The actual game the anime was based on was created by another company though Type-Moon is doing a sequel add-on to that game; so it isn't a full-on Type-Moon creation like Fate S/N- seems pretty convoluted, I know. ;)

As for those interested in checking out the Princess Lover anime, based on the game of the same name, then you can check it out here.

Another similar anime you can also check out is Sora No Manimani, found here; It's a many girls/1 guy "romance" set against an astronomy backdrop.

For those that don't care for any "romance", another Fall 2009 anime offering is Aoi Hana, a pastelly colored anime centering around the friendship between 2 girls; you can find it here.

TriOmegaZero wrote:
We need a fall season thread. I am sad Umineko No Naku Koro Ni is not mentioned here. Or Spice and Wolf 2.

Funny you should mention the need for the anime fall season thread; for those who don't know, some new anime have come up on the docket since a month or two ago- with Umineko (think Agatha Christie's "And then there were none" mixed together with some witchcraftery; based on a videogame of the same name and released by the same folk responsible for the "When they cry"/Higurashi anime series) and the 2nd season of Spice and Wolf (Wolf-Goddess and a merchant and their everyday trials and tribulations) being among those offerings.

Personally, I've been keeping up with only a handful of them myself- since, apart from Spice and Wolf 2, they're not really much in the way of the fantasy genre.

The aforementioned Umineko can be found here. They're currently up to the 10th subtitled episode.

I imagine that Spice and Wolf 2 will come out once Funimation releases the first season.

Other fall anime series that might be of interest:

Needless: combining high-octane super human powered brawlfests with pantyshots of nubile young lasses. This NSFW series can be found here.

Tokyo Magnitude 8.0: If you ever wondered why they haven't come out with an anime version of your basic Irwin Allen disaster-flick, wonder no more

Perhaps you'd rather have something more... genteel. Well then, what can be more genteel than anime girls in the 1920's in Tokyo, playing baseball. Taishou Yakyuu Musume can be found here.

Perhaps you'd rather be boning up on your art design; then GA Geijutsuka Art Design Class might just be up your alley.

Or perhaps you want to have a "behind the scenes" look at anime wenches doing cutesey business in newspaper subscriptions; Kanamemo might just be the thing for you.

And for the Type-Moon (Fate-Stay-Night, etc.) aficiandos, Canaan has got you covered.

While Element Hunters might not offer much beyond being a kid's pokemon-style anime mixed with monsterized elements, the ed theme might be worth a look see just once.

And those are just a few of the many offerings out there for the fall anime season.

First up, a bit of good news for those hoping for a domestically released Region 1 version of Tears to Tiara- looks like you're going to get your wish, because Sentai Filmworks has picked up this anime series for distribution, as found here.

For those of you without any interest in Tears to Tiara, worry not, for the 21st subtitled episode of Shin Mazinger Shougeki Z has come out to give you your daily dose of metallic robotsmashing fun.

And the 11th subtitled episode of Souten Kouro has made landfall, as can be found here.

5 (count 'em, 5) new (amateur) subtitled anime episodes today...

Episode 21 of Tears to Tiara can be found here.

Episode 20 of Guin Saga can be found here.

Episode 20 of Shin Mazinger Shougeki Z can be found here.

Episode 19 of Slap Up Party! Arad Senki can be found here.

And last, but not least, Episode 4 of Konnichiwa Anne has been subbed at long last, as found here.

Tangentially related to anime....

Never come between a virtual girl and her leekburger.

Tears to Tiara also has another subtitled episode out, the 20th one, found here.

Guin makes a return to his own title anime in the subtitled version of Guin Saga, episode 19, found here.

Coming in for the bronze and third place, is the 10th subtitled version of Souten Kouro, found here.

And another 19, this time, it's the subbed 19th episode of Shin Mazinger Shougeki Z, found here.

The first five episodes of Johnny Sokko and his Flying Robot is now on Youtube.

First episode is here.

Getting two 18's and a 19 in your 3.5 ogl stats is nice; Having the 18th subbed episodes of Guin Saga (here and here) and Slap Up Party Arad Senki (here and here) and the 19th subbed episode of Tears to Tiara (here and here) is also nice.

Another Spring 2009 anime that I've been keeping track of: Shin Mazinger Shougeki Z-Hen. It's based on the famous Super Robot series, Mazinger Z, created back in the 70's by Go Nagai.

Some of you out there might remember Mattel's Shogun Warrior Mazinga toy (based on the sequel series Great Mazinger), the Mazinkaiser DVD release by ADV, or the late 80's syndicated TV show Tranzor-Z. The Shin Mazinger 2009 anime is a modern retro-style retelling of the Mazinger (and other Go Nagai) franchise; a redone modern day incarnation of "Rocket Punch", if you will- all courtesy of Mr. Nagai and Yasuhiro "Giant Robo OVA Animation" Imagawa.

It can be found at such places as:

And the 18th subtitled episode of Tears to Tiara is out and can be found here or here.

Somebody's been burnin' the midnite oil for Arad Senki, cause they just came out with the subtitled versions of episodes 15, 16, and 17.

And speaking of number 17, there's also the latest 17th subtitled episode of Guin Saga out over here too.

And two new subtitled anime episodes of Guin Saga and Tears to Tiara have come out for your enjoyment.

The 16th subbed episode of Guin Saga can be found here or here.

The 17th subbed episode of Tears to Tiara can be found here or here.

And at long last, the 15th subtitled episode of Guin Saga is out- now with a 100% more romance, one final pirate bashing or two, and plenty of intrigues and battles. The episode can found here and here.

Not to be outdone, the 8th and 9th subtitled episodes of Souten Kouro surfaces up as well; The eighth episode can be found here and the ninth episode can be found here.

And edging out the pack to take the lead in subtitled episodes, the 16th episode of Tears to Tiara comes into play, as found here.

And they've come out with the 15th subtitled episode of Tears to Tiara, found here and here.

Thanks to U Sank for keeping the thread moving. Sorry about my lack of posts. Just been really under the weather and not able to update.

No prob- always glad to have an opportunity to pimp stuff like the Guin Saga anime and it's all thanks to you for starting this thread. ;)

And I know how it can be when you're under the weather- definitely not fun stuff. :(

Today's going to be a triple threat offerring: Three subtitled 14th episodes of Tears to Tiara (found here and here), Guin Saga (found here and here), and Arad Senki (found here and here).

And speaking of Guin Saga, some music from the anime soundtrack has been turning up on youtube (like here, here, and here).

Note: Edited for additional stuff and necessary changes.

Good sir, you had me at utawarerumono! ::Watches::

While both anime versions are being produced by two different anime-animation companies, both of them should stay fairly faithful to their respective game storylines. ;)

And what can be better than having one reason for Triskaidekaphobia? When you can have two, of course- especially when those two just happen to be the 13th subtitled episodes of Slap Up Party Arad Senki and Guin Saga.

The 13th subbed episode of Arad Senki can be found here, here, and here.

The 13th subbed episode of Guin Saga (now with the start of piratey goodness, courtly intrigues, and sea voyages) can be found here and here.

And past the number twelve is "lucky" number 13, as in the thirteenth subbed episode of Tears to Tiara, which can be found here and here.

And it seems that somebody's been pushing through their backlog of Arad Senki subs, because episodes ten to twelve are already available.

Episode ten can be found here and here.

Episode eleven can be found here and here.

Episode twelve can be found here and here.

Lastly, for those who wish for an alternate subtitle (via Aniyoshi) of Guin Saga 8, they can find it here.

BRING ON THE PARODIES!

K-ON! BEBOP

Funny that you should mention K-ON!; it was one of the more popular spring 2009 anime offerings- no doubt influenced in part by being animated by Kyoto Animation, that studio behind Haruhi and Lucky Star.

If cutesy anime girls playing in a hurriedly assembled band, along with their charmingly mundane trials and tribulations does it for you- then you're certainly in for a treat.

Here's one of many locations that has it for your viewing pleasure.

And in short order, there was a subtitled 12th episode of Tears to Tiara for the viewing audience, here and here.

And fresh in from the "grey areas that anime fans are wont to wander into", comes the 11th subtitled episode of Guin Saga and the 7th subtitled episode of Souten Kouro.

With the 11th subbed episode of Guin Saga, found here and here, we come to the start of the next story arc- this time focusing on urban-style intrigues and such.

With the 7th subbed episode of Souten Kouro, found here and here, we come upon rebellions and the beginnings of the Three Kingdoms wars.

Turning the dial up to 11, as in the subtitled eleventh episode of Tears to Tiara- found here and here.

Lazaro wrote:

Just watched the first episode of Guin Saga. If you haven't seen it then you you should!

Episode 2 here I come

Glad you enjoyed it- it's a fun series to watch, even with all it's limitations and such. :)

And now for some updates...

The tenth subtitled version of Tears to Tiara (from the same gamemakers behind Utarewemono (sp?)- also made into an anime and game) can be found here and here.

And the eighth and ninth subtitled versions of Arad Senki have also surfaced as well:

Eight can be found here and here

Nine can be found here and here

Amazingly enough, this week came out with the 10th subtitled episode of Guin Saga, which you can find here or here, among other places.

And then there was a subtitled version of Guin Saga, episode nine- found here, here, and here.

And Funimation has licensed the Spice and Wolf anime, more info can be here or here.

And Bandai has also announced it's upcoming release of the Lucky Star OVA, as well.

And out comes the subtitled version of Souten Kouro, episode six, which can be found here, here, or here.

And just out for the occasion, the ninth subtitled episode of Tears to Tiara can be found here; it's one of the more popular of the fansubbed anime this season.

Chiming in here with the latest subtitled version of Guin Saga, this time it's episode eight, which can be found here and here.

Besides Guin Saga, Queens Blade, and Arad Senki, the Spring 2009 anime season has one more standard fantasy anime that premiered: Tears to Tiara.

Originally a crpg-datesim PC/PS3 game by the same makers as Utawarerumono, this anime features demon kings, harems with lots of women, nods to arthurian legends, magic, and wars.

The first episode can be found here.

The second episode can be found here.

The third episode can be found here.

The fourth episode can be found here.

The fifth episode can be found here.

The sixth episode can be found here.

The seventh episode can be found here.

The eighth episode can be found here.

Latest subtitled 7th episode of Guin Saga is now available here and here.

And speaking of Guin Saga, it seems that the author and creator of Guin Saga, Kaoru Kurimoto, passed away yesterday. Info can be found here and here.

Also, Arad Senki has it's latest subtitled, 7th episode available, here and here.

Lazaro wrote:

Yeah with all the anime out now I'm falling behind:(

As for everything else... Even though I spend my day near the computer I still don't get around to it all... Though some, Basquash and DB Kai I couldn't get thoriugh many episodes. Just of little or no interest.

It happens, especially with all the anime coming out these days- not to mention all the ones that are already out.

And on that note, there's been some additions that came up...

The third episode of Konnichiwa Anne can be found here.

The Fifth episode of Souten Kouro can be found here.

Another offering from the Spring 2009 anime season, Souten Kouro is an alternate retelling/universe version of the Chinese classic story of the "Three Kingdoms". In this anime, the traditional villian of the story, Cao Cao is presented as the protagonist/hero.

Episode one can be found here.

Episode two can be found here.

Episode three can be found here.

Episode four can be found here.

And just to be going off the beaten track for the sake of going off the beaten track, there's another Spring 2009 anime that may be of interest to some- an anime adaptation of the prequel story "Before Green Gables", entitled as Konnichiwa Anne; be warned that melodrama and pathos reign supreme in these type of anime.

Episode one can be found here or here.

Episode two can be found here.

This anime series itself is a "Star Wars Episode 1-3 style prequel sequel" to an earlier anime adaptation of late 70's "Anne of Green Gables" (where Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata both worked on prior to their creation of Studio Ghibli), of which the first episodes and beyond can be found here and elsewhere on veoh.

Another factor that might come into play is whether or not you choose to go with domestically available anime (ie. Anime for sale in places like the U.S. or Canada) or anime that hasn't been licensed in the western countries.

Domestically available anime that might be of interest would include: Twelve Kingdoms (MediaBlasters), Rurouni Kenshin (MediaBlasters)/Samurai X (ADV), Emma (RightStuf), Slam Dunk (Crunchyroll streaming), Claymore (Funimation), Story of Sainkoku (Funimation), and School Days (Crunchyroll streaming).

And fyi, Twelve Kingdoms has the series novelization available domestically by Tokyopop, Rurouni Kenshin/Slam Dunk/Claymore are available in manga form by Viz, and Emma has a manga series from cmx comics.
