So I see this ending in a few ways:
1) V arrives in time to save his family, which leads to an all out smackdown between V and Mama Dragon. Which ends with V winning, but being so consumed with power did't notice his family was in the crossfire and kills them.
2) V arrives in time to save his family, which leads to an all out smackdown between V and Mama Dragon. Which ends with V winning, but being so consumed with evil/power kills his family for the jollys.
3) V arrives in time to save his family, which leads to an all out smackdown between V and Mama Dragon. Which ends with V winning. Consumed with power goes on to destroy anything/one that has ever stood in his path or annoyed him, Belkar tops this list. Still possible for him to kill his own family, seeing them as an annoyance.
4) V arrives too late to save his family, which leads to an all out smackdown between V and Mama Dragon. Which ends with V winning, but goes on a killing spree due to their loss.
5) V arrives too late to save his family, which leads to an all out smackdown between V and Mama Dragon. Mama Dragon wins.

Personally I am convinced that it won't come down to the much anticipated clash between evil V and Mama dragon. It seems far too obvious for the Giant. I think V never even considered that stupid 'you don't need to do this but you will because we know how you tick' backup plan as an realistic alternative and has come up with his/her own scheme to rescue his/her family without betraying his/her principles(too much). Remember, V can choose to dismiss the three at any time and might finally realize that wielding ultimate arcane power might be nice but doesn't beat a high powered and coolly(sp?) calculating intellect.
Edit: That, or an counter offer for much better ultimate arcane power from some other faction.

Nayh I think V falls in for it... beats down mama dragon then gets ready to let the splice go... and realises the second he does the demons get control for (5 minutes each) delays the end to think about it... adds another minute, and becomes determined to not let go at all so the demons never get to use his soul, then the popcorn comes out as we wait and see how long Super Sayian V can last.

I'm thinking that the restriction against mimicking cleric spells is going to be key. No gate, summon monster, energy drain, time stop, dimensional lock, discern location,... (Heck, Haere Bloodsoak, the necromancer, may be the meanest Neutral Evil soul in history, but she's not going to be contributing jack to the splice.)
On the other hand, greater teleport is a clerical spell (Travel domain), so maybe V can cast his / her own spells whether they mimic clerical spells or not.

I took it to mean no Harm, Poison, Inflict X Wounds, Summon nature's Ally etc.
Arcane spells that have a divine analogue are fine, divine spells that don't have an arcane analogue are right out.
Which is why I think V's mate will die, and he'll break the deal by trying to raise him.
