OK, I lied. I wrote up Part 6 for you.

Thx for the motivation. Let me know if you shed a tear, though these excerpts are too short to do the story justice.

I'll scribble an epilogue and a time shift back soon. Maybe Charles' dragon was the one behind it all. Maybe he'll give up that bronze book of the Ch'ack in atonement. Hmmm...

Shadow Lodge

Good story, Jack Hammer.

Thx. A little long for a backstory though. ;)

It's a backstory not a backparagraph.

(edited, dragon names) Styrmenvanterix has been pretty neutral for a long time, but there have been several pretty crazy ones around, including Randovolmunatrixal, Nalassam, and one who keeps his name to himself but loves to smash things - stories and destinies in particular - and who is known simply as 'The Betrayer'. (In fact he is partially responsible for the demise of Styrmenvanterix.)

Part six reminded me in places of the first Conan film, by the way.

Shadow Lodge

Names to long... can remember more than a few syllables...

I mixed up Sallimnandrissal and Nalassam, but have corrected that now in my previous post.

What do you mean 'names too long', DB3? They're dragons. Of course they have grandiose names...

Last time I fought a dragon with a name, it was Long Tooth from RotRl.

I have a notion that even on Golarion dragons generally have very big names, but occasionally keep around shorter ones for use by lesser beings. It's been a while since I read Mike McArtor's piece on that topic though.

Wanders off to check back-issues of PF...

Edit:
Wanders back
Hmm. I must have been confusing it with another article, possibly about a different world, as I couldn't find anything about dragon names on Golarion in the article in Pathfinder #4. Sigh.

Man, I was going for Ancient Norse, not Sumerian. *sigh* :(

Shadow Lodge

Lesser? Maybe. But not afraid. Picture this, a halfling druid(level 7) facing Long Tooth with only his animal companion(a dire bat, which was acting as a flying mount) and surviving(except the bat, poor Freefall was the target of a full attack).

Anyway, off to bed. I'll post in the morning.

It still made a dramatic read.... ;)

Yay!!!! :) I didn't have to wait a whole week to read the next part of the story. :)

(And I'm starting to get some insight into why the writers' group keeps me around. I'm that special kind of annoying that gets them to keep working if only to make me shut up for short periods of time.) ;)

I didn't cry, but I'll admit I came close. Very well written tragedy.

Just wanted to pop in real quick and say fanstastic visualization E7/JH. Nice flair in the writing. Keep it up!

Note to Self: Don't rush the finale.

Glad you all liked it!

Part 7 done. Now to get me back to the present...

Awesome job on part seven. I especially liked how well you conveyed the frustration of being dead. :)

Yay! I'm alive! I'm alive!

I made that part up too. ;)

Just a heads up, I'm heading out for the afternoon to take my kid to the fair and I may or may not be able to check in briefly before gaming tonight.

And here I am, all naked, with nuthin' to do in this mist...

Target has a sale on paper towels. You know, to clean up that coffee you spit up. ;)

From somewhere strange words echo after the departing Ch'ack.

So long ago.... Once I think I trained you in spirit combat, but the time for that is long past. All you can do now is pray to the gods that you remember. That you remember everything and in time... The shadows of the serpents walk still.
With the dissipating sigh of lost and forgotten lore, the words break apart into fading susserations.
Ch'ack Hammer shivers as the words float across the mists. He turns and looks, but cannot find their source before they fade.

At the moment my thought here is that the dragon may have been a sort of mentor at some point in the past, like Antony Hopkins in the Zorro film, or at least Styrmenvanterix thinks he was, hence the memories of having fought.

Anyway, not planning to do very much more with that alias at present, nor with Sarabisia (The Executioner of Lilies).

Bad food, enough rides that the kid almost vomited, ultra cheap prizes won, and a little too much sun. So, all in all, the kidlet thought it was a great day. :)

And I'm back for a couple of hours before gaming group tonight.

Savor it, mine are beyond that stage so now I have to wait for grandkids to go have fun at the fair... sigh..

I always wanted to be one of those kids... in the Gravitron.

BTW, I have my RL game tonite and I head off to Gen Con tomorrow. Limited reading and posting ability while I'm on the road. Take care all!

Same here. And going to see my dad after we get back, so really I won't be online much until Tuesday afternoon/evening.

I was just about to ask about that. Have fun at GenCon and the other travels! :D

Apologies for the lack of posting, folks. I took my sweety into the doctor yesterday morning for what we thought was a kidney stone, and found out it was appendicitis instead...

Thankfully, it was in the very early stages, hadn't perforated, and was in no danger of bursting. I cannot speak highly enough of the medical center we went to last night to have the operation - they were on top of things as soon as we walked in the door. All things considered, it was the easiest and most pleasant hospital trip we've had to deal with. Despite that, we're going to spend the rest of the weekend asleep if at all possible :)

Needless to say, if there's any opportunity to get the kids' quest moving again, by all means don't wait on me. It may be a bit before I can post again.

I go eat and sleep now...

I'm glad they caught it when they did, and I hope that your sweety recovers quickly. By all means, go sleep. :)

Shadow Lodge

Sleep weel, shadowblade. Well wishes and all that mushy stuff! :)

Glad they caught that early. Best wishes to you and your sweety!

Thanks for the well-wishes folks - we appreciate them :)

She's still hurting a little bit between doses of her pain medicine, but she's doing well. In fact, she's already a bit sick of lying in bed, and has insisted on gaming tonight. As she can recline on our loveseat comfortably and not stretch anything, I guess I have no choice but to entertain her. She really is an impatient patient... ;P

Time to start prepping The Shadow Clock! (and chug much Red Bull)

Belated well wishes to you and your family, Dalesman.
Err, and on a different front, good luck with introducing your group to a certain snaky lady if I correctly understand you to be referring to Pathfinder #2 with your mention of 'The Shadow Clock'. ;)

Thank you sir. And you are correct on the Shadow Clock reference. We stopped just shy of finally meeting the 'lady', as my sweety was getting tired (the faceless stalkers and the bells are behind them though). Next Saturday should be the big finale.

I remember her, she turned our gnome wizard into... wait, I don't want to spoil the surprise!

Heh. We actually ended up dropping a statue on said lady. Only thing that saved our bacon. :)

Ack! Hadn't been by in a while, just wanted to say glad all turned out OK and best wishes noble knight and lady!

Just after the gnome returned to normal, we managed to drive her off... only to be lightning bolted out of the sky. We found her on the street impaled on her own weapon, which my character used up until he died because our DM decided it would be a good idea to not tell us we needed to make listen checks because we were already in battle. He actually played ogres smart. He doesn't go out of his way to kill us, but he tries.

Well, I'm not trying to kill my players, but I have been giving the gestalt treatment to our dear Wanton of Nature's Pagan Forms. We'll see if it was too much this weekend I guess... :)

***INCOMING TRANSMISSION***

Okay, I've set things up to get Devlyn 'offscreen' so things can move properly when everything is ready to conclude with the Tristan story.

BP - it would probably be easiest to assume that Devlyn is taking care of things in the background while the others are tackling the main threat of the Drow and her chief minions. It keeps him doing something productive (which, being true to character, he would do), but should allow this to get wrapped up much more easily by not having to wait on my sporadic daytime posts.

Go get 'em, kids.... ;)

***END OF TRANSMISSION***

I'm going to be gone for a few days. I did my best to stop it, but I'm going camping, whether I like it or not.

Well, I've introduced another character. To think, not long ago I had too many characters in the RPG. Now I have about 5.

Throws something at Emperor7, *hard*.

In a secluded section of the Realm of Dreams, a fetid swamp guards the entry to the Spirit Realm. Dreamers are loathe to travel this way, but the cries of the unwary still pierce the air on occasion. Only seasoned travellers can ignore the poisonous fumes that block the way, and only the strongest can survive the denizens that call this place home. There are other entries to the Spirit Realm, but few are known to the living.

I have been trying to keep things (and especially physical trips) OUT of the Realm of Dreams thread not least because the 'sealed off' nature keeps a lot of my aliases credibly inactive and away from coming after other people for large slices of revenge or otherwise further complicating matters. I specifically suggested the gate being on the RPG (main) thread with this end in mind, which apparently I should have explained.

Ah, thanks for the revision, Emperor7.

The Denizens of Leng in particular are interested in any route out of Dream, so that they can flatten the Eyrie, torture and horribly slay Allura and her friends, and be very nasty to Lynora Jill. Any Dream/Spirit Realm route is likely shut at present. (Except possibly to those who are no more nor less than simply spirits of the departed - do spirits of the dead dream?)

No worries. I'm just laying the groundwork for a Spirit Realm, and a bit of overlap with dreams is hard to avoid. :)

New thread posted, though so many aren't seeing much use. Where Spirits Dream

Or, shall we call it the creepy dude's lawn? ;)
