I know, that's just crazy talk.
Going to lunch now. Will update when I get back if any of you other slackers have finally gotten around to submitting.
Submitted mine a few minutes ago... would have sent it in before work today but I just couldn't resist some last minute wordsmithing. Hope it went through! Thanks for your help easing our panic.

you have higher expectations than I do. I just made a simple <redacted> <redacted> <redacted>/<redacted>.
The biggest challenge for me was word count. At least one <readacted> was <redacted> because of needing <redacted>

LOL! I am coming to think that the REAL contest here is one of endurance for rabid web-posters ... the inability to respond to certain posts until a set deadline from folks that LOVE to post and parry :)

Curaigh is in. Getting down to the wire, people!
Thanks Gary,
Last year we had contestants submitting their entries literally two minutes before deadline. I do not understand why someone would risk not advancing due to a website malfunction or the like....
It was a website malfunction--OK really it was webuser malfunction it did not recognize me and I haven't actually had to type my password in months O:)
Good luck everyone!

this has been one of the busiest, most nerve-wracking weeks in recent memory.
In a good way.
Yeah, I get that too. I hadn't really counted on getting through that first round, and now it's suddenly "I'm in the top 32! Cool!!" oh wait, "I have to write up something in 3 days! Crap!!!" :P

Matthew Morris wrote:So now I just wait and see if I did something stupid and get DQ'edYou're such a bundle of optimism, Matthew. C'mon...deep breaths...there, better?
"The optimist believes he lives in the best of all possible worlds; The pessimist fears this is true"
In all seriousness, self sabatoge has always been my biggest flaw. I've done my best, I'll let otehrs judge.

I'm doubly cursed. If i don't edit myself, I write... excrement comes to mind. It just is some kind of shorthand for a mental concept that just isn't going to get nailed down easily. If i start editing, half-sentences crop up, words double double mysteriously, and all the other flaws of less than gifted writers appear.
Thankfully, in university there was a scientific writing course which pushed me to some degree of comprehensibility. Still, I am a horrible self-editor, and frequently end without the tools to express the big idea.
However, this time I still like the text i send in. I take this as a positive sign. :)

Wesley Lee is in.
Mine is in? good.
I got not confirmation message and with only 7 minutes to go I was worried about missing the deadline due to a web problem
Glad to hear it is there...
now I can get some sleep.
Wesley, when Gary said you were 'in,' I think he was talking about fashion sense, as in 'in-style'. You'd better double check your entry just in case.
heheheh.
;-)

You done Neil? Way to go. I'm going to sleep on mine and submit in the morning.
Yeah. I had to be. Full day on Friday. No time for additional reworking. So I "burned the midnight oil" last night instead. Unfortunately... :-/
In all honesty, Sean's admonition for everyone to get started on their stat-blocks early is what helped the most...

Sorry, I haven't had time yet to look at the submission tool to figure out where it's going nutso. So far we have submissions from Neil Spicer, Eric Morton, Randy Dorman and Matt Banach.
Other entries might be "orphaned" and not showing up in the judges' chambers; I'll re-parent those when I get into the office and post an update here if there are any.
For what it's worth, we haven't actually lost any entries so far this season -- the only bug is that we're not setting the flag that says you entered.

That's reassuring, actually. And I suspected that was the case based on how it worked last round. Still, it's a bit stressful when you're not 100% certain it went through. I'm in the same boat as Matt. If the submission hadn't gone through last night for me, I'd be harder-pressed to push it through today while I'm at work. I could probably still do it. Just a bit trickier to work on that on company time.
