which means your under by 7.25 pts

Yeah, I know I'm under a little. I'm still tweaking the character and haven't decided exactly what to do with the last few points. I forget how resources works. Do you spend points to have a wealthy PC because I'm thinking my character is fairly well off.

A character’s base Wealth bonus is +8. The Benefit feat provides

a +4 Wealth bonus per rank. The Profession skill grants
a bonus to Wealth, +2 for 5 or more ranks in a Profession.

You're welcome to increase your wealth in these ways

WEALTH BONUS FINANCIAL CONDITION
+0 Impoverished
+1 to +4 Struggling
+5 to +10 Middle class
+11 to +15 Affluent
+16 to +20 Wealthy
+21 to +30 Rich
+31 or higher Filthy rich

Wealth bonus reflects your buying power. Every item and service has a
purchase Difficulty Class based on how expensive it is. To purchase
something, make a Wealth check against the purchase DC. As a general
guideline, the equipment purchase DC equals 10 + the equipment’s point
cost. The GM sets the Wealth check DC for any particular purchase

A Wealth check is a d20 roll plus your current Wealth bonus. Wealth bonus is
fluid; it increases as you gain Wealth and decreases as you make purchases.
If you succeed on the Wealth check, you purchase the item. If you fail,
you can’t afford the item at this time.
If your current Wealth bonus is equal to or greater than the DC, you automatically
succeed.
If you successfully purchase an item with a purchase DC higher than
your current Wealth bonus, your Wealth bonus decreases by 1 point for
every 5 points the purchase DC is higher than your current Wealth bonus
(1 point for 1–5 points higher, 2 points for 6–10 points higher, etc.). Lost
Wealth bonus returns at a rate of 1 point per month.

you might also want to spend some points in the Equipment feat, to reflect equipment you have normally.

As soon as You guys decide on a team name, i'll get a game thread up.

ok names we need one

The defenders
Freedom city defenders
Freedom avengers
The justice council

None are very good names

so lets add to the list and pick a name

Personally I like things with Council in it... Maybe The Freedom Council or We could stick with The Justice Council. I am getting to work on my character now and since we have one character that is a devicer I may look at another option as opposed to the Samurai one.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

well we have 2 that use dices but in very different ways.

One is a mask who is the power, maybe a whole diff persona am not sure/ Mine has some powers but his powerful stuff come from his devices

I've just decided to have a place in the character's history where the "spirit" from the mask and him finally merged. I am thinking during the invasion, and the original mask was "destroyed" but the spirit was able to join with the character. This gives me the same character concept but he will now have the powers in himself.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

humm world you be a merged persona or two in one bod? there is a flaw in which you transform from normal guy to super form.

Oh. I can use the mask as the part for Normal Identity and not have to worry about a "device" at all. That will allow me to play the "different personas" from the normal character and the one in the mask.

Hmm...well, if we want pure simplicity, and you like the sound of the word council, we could just be...The Council. I've heard worse names for supergroups.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Heh, The council of seven

I kinda like the Freedom council myself, or we could go with a fun ripoff and call are self the watchmen or the night watch or something lol

I vote for Freedom Council.

Btw, here is all the crunchy bits... I need to make the fluffy bits now.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

we could call the HQ the council hall :}

yay mansoon...nice pic matches pretty well

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

hey if we go with Freedom Council and the Council Hall...I want a big honking JLA type meeting table

male human

I'm good with Freedom Council. It sounds sufficiently cheesy.

seekerofshadowlight wrote:

I second the big honking table for the group. Gotta have plenty of elbow space.

You're math seems to be right Shisumo, but you have 5 pts spent on your toughness save, and you dont buy your toughness save

you can, however, instead spend those 5 pts on a power such as Protection or Enhanced Trait(Toughness)

It's because he's a construct. Constructs buy Toughness (see pg 149 of M&M 2E).

I like The Council, but Freedom Council sounds too much like we're actually the city government.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

I don't like just "The council"

What about the liberty council or the sentry council or Freedom force council or some such

Or maybe the watch council or the council brigade or hummm we need more ideals

"The Shadow Council" We refer to one another by the title "councilor". Our table is a high, rounded bench.

In Mutants & Masterminds, can the group, as a whole, have agents? If so, something like a Shadow Council ought to have a lot of agents.

male human

Freedom Brigade?

Shadow Council sounds a little sinister.

P.H. Dungeon wrote:

Yes, it does. So do the names "Doctor Strange," "The Shadow", "Batman", "Doc Savage", "The Spectre", "Ghost Rider", ...

Vaguely ominous names are part and parcel of the genre. All the better to intimidate our foes.

Our designation is irrelevant, so long as it remains unambiguous.

Male Human PL 10

Captain Invincible would much rather belong to the Freedom Brigade than the Shadow Council, and since I kick in money for our marketing... I mean if I had it my way we would be Team Invincible or the Invincibles or Captain Invincible and his Amazing Friends!

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Ok Allies of Freedom was a A WWII super group...none made it past 1947

shadow is an over arching evil group made up of left over Nazi ss high ups

Freedom is a node toward the old groups

also the WWII era freedom league was called the liberty league

Tom Pitt wrote:

Heh wealth rank of 32...think i out rank ya there

I like Freedom Brigade or Liberty Council. And the Shadow Council does sound like we would be "bad guys". Lawrence (The Samurai), the district attroney, would never join a group like that! I say we call a vote here so we can get the team name fixed and the DM can put the game up!

My vote is for Liberty Council!

Male Human PL 10

Liberty Council is fine with me.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

I am good with Liberty council...still want that big honking table though

I can live with that.

The Exchange RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16

Fair enough.

(For my money, "Liberty Council" seems a little awkward and, well, passive. Councils hold meetings. "Liberty League", "Liberty Brigade", "Liberty Squad", "Scions of Liberty", "Liberty Agents" or even "Lifeforms Intent on Battle, Efficient Rescuing, and Terror-Yanking". ("Yanking"? "Sorry, couldn't think of a better "Y" word. Yawning, yelling? What other verbs start with 'Y'?"))

Yabby, yacht, yack, yacker, yacket, yaff, yaffle, yain, yam, yammer, yamph, yandy, yap, yappet, yar, yard, yare, yark, yarken, yarn...

For the record, I agree with Chris about the passivity of "councils" versus other types of groups, but not enough to make an issue out of it since it seems to be okay with most everyone else.

So Freedom Council it is?

I'll design a Nice little headquarters for you all, and get an in game thread up for finished characters to interact probably tonight while we wait for unfinished ones, I think that's Chris, And Young Arbiter

Male Human PL 10

I'd like to see this discussion come to a resolution, but I do agree that I prefer Liberty Brigade or Squad to Liberty Council. Councilors sit and talk, brigades and squads are out in the field kicking ass.

Jedi Council sat and talked until they lead the clone troops into battle and kicked arse. I have said my peice!

Feel free to continue the discussion then.

i'm in no rush as there's a couple whos characters arent finished.

Liberty's Edge

Human (Minkai) Samurai (sword saint) 7 (Order of the Warrior)

How about the Vanguard?

Male Human PL 10

I'm getting bored of talking about it. I'm out of the discussion now. You guys pick what you want, and I'll be fine with it. Later I'll have some of my PR people form some focus groups and conduct some public opinion poles and we can see how the public has been responding to our name selection. Then we can either leave or change it, and we can get to work on our merchandising.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

I would be ok with vanguard

as for council. Well I would see us as a council. We would have meetings, we would work with the public much as the JLA do. There would be press meetings, meeting to discus action or how to deal with this or that threat. Meetings with tech firms and other heroes, meetings to lay out who patrols what area's, meetings to talk about things found out or things that need done.

A super team is not a one man operation, there are always meetings, and planning and talk, more talk and endless talk it seems.

Thats why

1 I am ok with liberty, justice freedom or what ever council
2 I want that big table

Liberty's Edge

Human (Minkai) Samurai (sword saint) 7 (Order of the Warrior)

We may indeed do all of those things, but our name should be about who we are, not what we have to do along the way. Brigades, leagues - these are things that do things. Councils... counsel. They are about speech - quite literally, all talk, no action. We should have a name that reflects action, not talking.

The Exchange RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16

"Vanguard of Liberty" -- literally, the people in the forefront of the fight for freedom. The VoL.

And, incidentally, I'm still ploughing through the rulebook to make sure I've got a reasonable first draft. I'll try to post it tomorrow for you folks to take a look at and suggest changes.

I will concede to Vanguard of Liberty... the VoL.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

owwww Vanguards of Liberty...thats I like well

Liberty's Edge

Human (Minkai) Samurai (sword saint) 7 (Order of the Warrior)

Sounds good, though I think I prefer the plural (Vanguards) to the singular.

A vanguard is a group of people. Someone is "in the vanguard", like being "in a brigade".

In some circumstances yes, but those are derivative of a positional meaning, where "in the vanguard" means "at the front of the attack," along the lines of being "in the bow of the boat." And as such, you can have one person there or several; more importantly, however, each separate unit has its own vanguard, meaning you can have multiple vanguards across an entire army.
