My players have managed to tick off their fair share of NPCs so far, including but not limited to Glorio Arkona (spreading vicious rumors about him slaving young girls), Devargo Barvassi (they wiped out his Shiver production by killing his spiders, and almost killed his beloved partner, Chittersnap), and Vendra Loagri (humliating her and debunking her 'plague cure' in front of a huge crowd). Obviously, Glorio wouldn't deign dirty his hands with something as paltry as revenge, but he might just provide resources for someone else to handle it.
I was considering, as a side-trek in between "Seven Days to the Grave" and "Escape from Old Korvosa", popping in a quick revenge scheme. The death trap idea I pitched out a while ago never really came to fruition, but might still work. The other idea I'm having is for Devargo (probably with some funds loaned from the Cerulean Society) bails out Vendra, and uses her alchemical expertise to create a drug based on Dream Spider venom that can actually through dreamers into the Astral Plane.
Basically, I'm thinking a sort of 'mirror of opposition' scenario, where the Heroes of Korvosa will have to face their own dark sides as they sleep. I'll keep them together on the same lump of dessicated god-stuff, just because it's a pain to break up a party in-game and leave everyone sitting there while you run with one person. The reflections will be important NPCs in their lives, but using their own statlines. I can wheedle at them, and make their characters own up to some of the background stuff their players talk about, but rarely act on, in-game.
If they manage to defeat their other selves, Zellara can probably lead them through the Astral Plane and back to their own bodies, and then Devargo and Vendra should be easy enough for the team to handle.
Does this sound like a fun idea, or just irritating from a player standpoint?

Sounds pretty cool to me, particularly the part about making characters own up to their past... Great idea.
My party went in and just wasted Vendra. It was crazy. They broke into her place in the middle of the night, of course Vendra and her bodyguards defended themselves, and the party just slaughtered them. I really want this to come back to haunt them somehow. I didn't have Kroft do anything about it... she had enough problems on her hands and there was proof that Vendra was faking a cure. But, yeah, it would be good for this to come back on them.
They got the info from Devargo without too much trouble, impressing him with Kniveses and bribes. So, that went smoothly, but I'd like to have something happen with Devargo. One of the PCs, a female rogue, decided to get a job dancing at one of the barges at Eel's End. It has made for some interesting interactions, but I would like to somehow see something happen with Devargo, Chittersnap, and the psuedodragon Majenko. I think it would be cool for the psuedodragon to join up with the party, but right now, I have no reason for the party to get into conflict with Devargo.
Escape From Old Korvosa just seems to assume that Devargo is dead, and brings in a new foe. I like the Emperor character, but I really think that Devargo made an impression on the players, and it would be lame to just say, "Oh, he just up and left." It might actually be cooler to have Devargo still be around, be at war / or at least a rival of the Emperor, and, maybe, for Devargo to end up an ally of the party. Maybe, he offers them Majenko as a token of good will.
What do you all think? Any other ideas?

I don't want to hijack this thread but:
My party just dealt with Devargo and left. The Cayden Cailean priest has a reason to return. He lost his holy weapon - a magical rapier, of course! - in a game of Three Towers in Eel's End.
We will start 7 Days sometime in february , but there is already some prison break on my schedule, too.
Before CotCT we played RotRL. Due to organizational problems we had to quit that campaign and the structure of CotCT suits our needs much more better.
RISE OF THE RUNELORDS SPOILERS TO FOLLOW:
So in CotCT Xanesha owes to the Red Manthis and she pays by killing!
The lamia matriarch creates some kind of tool to put her victims to sleep. Not a good sleep, a nightmare. I was thinking somewhat about the lines of Immora, that the whole party ends in an other plane. But I was thinking of a pocket dimension dedicated to lamashtu. A deadly maze with minotaurs, gelatinous cubes and other crazy stuff (I am hoping for Dungeon Denizens Revisited). For each room they enter I would have them make a Will save to wake up, leaving him in the tent of a Shoanti shaman, as I intend to run the side trek during History of Ashes. The shaman of the Lyrune Quah could heal the PC and send him back to fight with his companions. (But that is all far away and pretty unsure :)
So I am very interested in your Dreamland, Immora. Any more details? The idea to make them fight shaowy doubles there is great, too!
On prison break:
RISE OF THE RUNELORDS SPOILERS AGAIN:
In Burnt Offerings they left Orik Vancaskerkin alive, so I plan to make him free his brother. As one of my players runs the SD-AP online, perhaps the two return to riddleport or stay in Korvosa and...
