I think this is the right sub-forum for this.

Though I'm not having a real problem here, there's something I want to ask about.

I downloaded the Pathfinder RPG Alphas and Beta and the two Player's Guides for the Adventure paths. I don't know if it's just my computer or if other people experience the same, but the performance of these pdfs in Adobe Reader are kind of "lacking":
Every time I scroll or want to go to another page, there's a short lag before the view is "updated". On pages with many images and fancy text fonts, you can also see the single components appear on screen one after the other over a time of about one whole second. And to tell the truth, that's kind of anoying. I don't have this with most other pdfs I open.
I'm not sure if this is maybe caused by my computer, but if not, you're probably using a not so good programm to create the pdf-files. (And even it is my computer, why is it only doing that with Paizo pdfs?)
Not really so much of a "complain" from my side, but I think it's something you might check more throughly and maybe see if there's something you can do about, if it is really the case.

This isn't something I have experienced... maybe its a setting on reader that messes up the high picture pages? Vic has said on the boards before that they actually use Adobe to create the pages/PDFs, so it's not the creation process. They do use a custom font that may take an extra second to load, but that shouldn't explain what you're seeing. Might also want to check your virus scan settings, some of them can be set to scan PDFs for viruses every time they are opened, and this may explain longer load times. Other than that you'll have to wait for someone more knowledgeable in Adobe to help out

I have had this problem with Adobe. I think the problem lies in the background. it has to reload every time you access a new page. If you keep the view to 75% it should go a little faster. Scroll in only when you are on the page that you want to look at in detail. If you have a Mac I found that this happens a lot less in Preview.

I had a similar problem with Adobe and ended up switching over to Foxit Reader. It seems quite a bit faster than Acrobat Reader. There have been a few issues with printing PDFs, but as long as I keep it updated, it's never really been a problem.

All of the PDFs you mentioned were made using Adobe InDesign and Adobe Acrobat Pro, so the software isn't the problem. Most of our PDFs are a bit graphics-intensive, and you might feel that on older computers. However, you mentioned you had downloaded the Pathfinder RPG Alpha—does this happen with the print-friendly version of that? If so, the graphic workload is not the issue.

Also, if you're not using at least Adobe Reader 8, I'd suggest upgrading—Adobe made some pretty major performance enhancements between 7 and 8.

I'm using the latest Adobe Reader at home and experience the same issue on my computer (2.2 Ghz Athlon 64 3400+, 3 GB RAM). I tried fiddling with the display settings in Adobe Reader (and updating to the latest version--why I have the latest version), but I haven't been able to significantly improve the performance of the PDFs. Reading the books on PDF is a lot like pulling teeth. I even have the problem with GameMastery Module D0. I had to print it to read it comfortably.

As I told my brother, there's something wrong when I can get better performance from Quake 4 than from a PDF. My graphics card is kind of old, but it isn't THAT old.

I use Adobe Reader 9 as well (which should be the latest version). I'll see if Adobe Customers Service knows something about the issue when I'm back home from the hollidays.

I have also experienced this, however, if you scroll through the PDF using the pgdown/pgup keys instead of using the mouse/scrollbar, you can work around that - in my experience, there's no loading delay that way.
