Guys,

Something that has come from our game is the issue of what happens to a thrown splash weapon -- on a miss, it lands in a random direction 1 square per range increment thrown.

This has led our players to purposely throw from far away, as to miss their friends. This 'predictable miss' chance should be changed to a flat 1d3 squares, I would think ...

I guess I don't see the problem. In general, you shouldn't throw splash weapons at targets that are engaged with your allies, for precisely this reason. If someone wants to comepensate by throwing further than their true target, it sounds like a waste of a splash weapon and an action to me, since these weapons should hit most of the time anyway.

A better tactic would be to delay/ready your attack to coordinate with your allies, waiting for them to 5 foot step back, then throw, and they can re-engage on their turn.
