Aberrant Sorcerer - Sneak Attack Immunity???

Cool ability. But I wonder - with Sneak Attack being changed to affect almost all creatures and not being a "vital organ" finder but a weak spot finder, is this ability too powerful now that most creatures are not immune to the rogues deadly blade?

The verbage for the bloodline seems to imply that it's due to the anatomy changing and thus its because of bizarre organ structure that they are immune - yet the sneak attack is said in the designer notes to have nothing to do with that.

Don't get me wrong: I personally am not fond of the new sneak attack being able to affect so many creature previously unhurt by it - BUT if that is going to be the new standard, then I question this bloodline ability - either it's wording, and to some degree I question it's fairness - we can now "sneak attack" a construct, or a lich - but not a abberant sorcerer....?

I'm not demanding a change - just calling attention to a seemingly glaring contradiction.

I think what the fluff is saying is that due to his aberrant nature, the casters weak points move every round or so, so that there is no way to target them. Whereas a construct's or undead's weak points (a brittle joint on an iron construct, a zombie's head, etc.) are static and therefore targetable.

It's my impression that the big change in Sneak attack is not that it's eliminating immunity to SA, rather that the list of things is going to be fewer specific creatures rather than huge swaths of the Monster Manual. (Is it 2 entire types that are immune?) Since the Bestiary is going to be released prior to the main book I have a feeling sneak attack isn't going to be changed in the text as much as the types are going to be redefined in the bestiary.

So SA Immunity is going to go back to being special and fairly uncommon.

Thus my concern for that ability to be fairly fantastic - if it use to be that lots of creatures were immune this ability could be a dime a dozen type of thought - the more rare this becomes, the more lucrative and coveted it really is....I think.

However, thank you for posting your thoughts on the design intentions; it's good to hear others' perspectives.
