For those who are not yet familiar with my insane holiday project, I am drawing a monster alphabet book for my five year old son as a Christmas present. As promised I am posting the pages as I get them done. I'm trying to get at least five a day. Feel free to give me feedback on the rhymes if you can think of something better. Poetry is not my strong suit.

You mean like this?

A is for Aboleth, cunning and cold
dreaming and scheming through ages untold.

B is for Bugbear who silently creeps
through the night so dark and deep

Yeah, pretty similar. I never even knew that thread existed. Cool.

Oh, I see, you already have some rhymes. I like those.

C is for Centaur, half man, half horse,
through untamed wilds he does course.

D is for Dragon with scales of red,
on treasure hoard he makes his bed.

E is for Efreeti in his City of Brass,
if he grants your wish, take care what you ask.

Your son is lucky to have a mother like you. Make sure you eventually get a laminated copy so that he can have it forever. ;-)

*blush* Thank you. For now I'm putting the pages into a top-loading scrapbook so he can read it without hurting them.

Liberty's Edge

they look pretty good :)
the only thing i see is that the Efreeti looks more like a djinn than an Efreeti, but those are detail a kid should not worry :)

pretty cool indeed

Here's one for you guys. I asked for alternatives to Vine Horrors in the Sargasso for my STAP game and the Black Bard cam up with a shipwreck animated by seaweed.

Here's his description:

"From the mat of seaweed beneath your feet something surges up, tearing through the briny carpet. At first, you think it might be a ship, somehow coming up from below the water, as the first thing you recognize is the prow of a small fishing vessel. But as more of it rises into view, you realize the ship before you is most certainly not seaworthy. Its hulk is a shattered relic of its former function, with broken railings and masts, and tattered sails and rigging, all barely held together by a tangled web of kelp like the bandages of a mummy. To your disbeleif, the ruined hulk somehow turns in your direction, and the main mast whips towards you in what is obviously a hostile action! The ruined ship is not just covered by the seaweed; it is controlled by it!"

Any takers?

Aren't all ifrit, ghuls, marid, sila, etc. Djinn once all is said and done? (Djinn = Genie) =P

Actually it would have been strange if an Efreeti didn't look like a Djinn =P

P.D: Lynora, you ROCK as a mom, with bolds, and capitals.

I think the poems should come from you, but if you are stuck on any particular critter let me know, I would be happy to help. Are you doing them in alpha order? What critter is next?

Well, I was planning to go with

K is for Kobold, hardheaded and small,
their traps can make the toughest bawl

but if that's too offensive I can of course alter it for messageboard purposes:)
I'll put up the Kobold drawing tomorrow. I admit I used your avatar as inspiration for it.

F is for Faunwho frolics and plays
on his pan pipes all through the day.

G is for Gryphon majestic and fierce,
with claws that rend and talons that pierce.

H is for Hydra with many heads,
cut one off, you'll get two instead.

I is for Inevitable who never quits,
no breaking of law will he permit.

J is for Jackalope swift and shy,
he runs so fast he seems to fly.

Lynora, your Moster Alphabet its going great! looking foward to see the rest of the drawings!!!

I would really like someone to draw some of the npc and pc from my world over at Valegrims Homebrew.

Some would just be fun; like Harold; Harold is a small mongrel man; mostly rags upon rags who has various appendages and like to ride around on the inside of Balinor's tower shield; he springs out to make introductions and then crawls back; he is very timid unless he is preforming his paid Herald duties.

The emperor sebastion would be very cool; he is an tall (about 7' thin elf that was reconstitued from his prison which was a crystal elven skull; so; he wears a glass steel chiseled mask of his features so no one forgets; he wears an elven crown; elagent; but not austintatious; after all; he has a 3' orb that circles his head full of arcane power; the color of it changes to match his emotions so even if he as a poker face; the orb gives away his mood. He is impecably dressed as any elven ruler would be; with tasteful jewels.

What might really be fun to draw; is Balfic Graa; click his link in the discussion thread for some background there; hehe. just a mug shot of this half orc would be priceless; as in his eyes you can see the constelation whirl and he has thick short tusks and vampire fangs. he is black as any priest of darkness infused by the darkwell can be and still manages to be fairly attractive; wears a lot of very expensive jewerly in his hair; at his neck ;ear rings; lip ring; tusk rings; probably nose rings; maybe eyebrow; dont remember; lot are disguised pull rings for hidden darts and poison and stuff. Has a lot of thin healed scars; scores of them. Pretty much always has a look of disgust on his face unless his is with his girl; then either love, lust or total anger or confusion.

how do you guys post a link with a picture; where do you get a place to have your picture reside; this would be invaluable to my game. I can draw pretty well; had schooling and all; just dont have the knack for comic or fantasy.

Here's a Monster for the pages of a Magazine... They told me I could "publish" it on my portfolio whenever I wanted so hre it is.

NSFW (probably)!

There is also Imageshack.

I meant to put these up yesterday, but was too busy finishing the drawings. So here's the rest of it.

K is for Kobold, hardheaded and small,
his traps make even the toughest bawl.

L is for Lizardfolk wild and proud,
they rush into battle and will not be cowed.

M is for Minotaur, inside the maze
he guards its exits and watches its ways.

N is for Naga reclusive and wise,
unexpected guests it does depise.

O is for Orc who loves to fight,
he never bathes, and he's not too bright.

P is for Phoenix who ends in fire
and rises anew from his pyre.

Q is for Quasit, an evil little brat,
causing mischief and pain wherever he's at.

R is for Roc the biggest of birds,
as huge as a house, or so I've heard.

S is for Sphinx, with knowledge obsessed,
with riddles and puzzles she loves to test.

T is for Troll, if you raise his ire,
he'll keep coming back unless you use fire.

U is for Unicorn, wary and pure,
the touch of its horn afflictions can cure.

V is for Vampire roaming the night,
this blood-drinker cannot abide sunlight.

W is for Worg, he's big and he's bad,
stalking his prey, he silently pads.

X is for Xorn, tunneling through earth,
he munches on metals of greatest worth.

Y is for Yeti, in ice and snow
he makes his home where none can know.

Z is for Zombie who likes to eat brains,
it has no thoughts and feels no pain.

And that's it folks. Hopefully the kid will like it. I'm going to take a couple days off drawing I think. That was a lot. I think I may have raised a level.:)

The really scary part is that, if you made her hair black, she'd look a hell of a lot like my last girlfriend.

Thank you very much.

I'm going to be trying to do two commissions per week for awhile, one pc and one monster. My pc commissions are backed up for quite awhile, but monster stuff is pretty open. I'm going to try that mist wraith this week if you're still interested in it, Mothman. After that, I'll keep looking through the thread for other stuff that didn't get taken if nothing new crops up.

Lynora, you made monsters from A to Z, it would be cool if you put a linky to you deviant site so more people can see those! :D

Well, the links to each individual monster are all listed earlier in the thread, but just to make things easier, here's a link to my gallery, so you can look at them all in one fell swoop.

Things have been so quite lately on the drawing threads that I thought I should drop by and make some noise

Rawrrr! grunt, grunt, Raooowrrrr!!!

-Monster noise, of course-

Spoiler:
pardon my idle times

Shadow Lodge

Have you noticed lynora drew several of us in her story book? I'm greatly honored.

Darn! the bugbear beat me to the B...

Hey cool, I may give this a try when I get some free time!

Here is my finished drawing from this last week, the mist wraith mothman requested. I hope this comes close to what you intended.

Cool mist wraith, luv the face in particular!!!

Shadow Lodge

A: "Did you see that?"
B: "How can you see in all this mist?"
B: "Dude where are?"
B: "Dude?!?"
A: "BOO!!!"
B: *falls down*"You jerk!!" *looks behind A*
B: "Look out!"
A: "Yeah like I'm gona fall for tha-AHHHHHHHHH*sound of something snapping, B runs away in terror*
MW: "I'll eat well tonight..."

Nice job lynora!!
