Something about replacing elves with green men

Awesome idea... damn... I wonder if I can do this in Golarian.

I guess it's a stretch to think Golarian Goblins would be smart enough to figure out how to do the requisite magic :(

Well, their long term planning skills aren't terrific, but gobs do love making things burn. >;}

And technically, they don't have an Intelligence penalty (or a Wisdom one, oddly enough... personally, I think Golarion Goblins have enough chutzpah and crazy that they should have a -2 to Wisdom -instead- of Charisma.)

To be fair, though, you're probably right. As written, goblins of Golarion probably don't have it in them...

...but I betcha Hobgoblins could.

I agree that hobgoblins would be more likely to pull it off... but I don't like hobgoblins any more than drow so I wouldn't bother changing things up for them. Pathfinder Goblins on the other hand I think are the coolest thing since sliced bread and would love to see more of them... pretty much everywhere.

I've been thinking goblins are small enough that it is entirely possible that large cities like Riddleport might have a population of them that hides in the dark corners of the cities like stray dogs or rats. They would live off the garbage and occasionally attack lone people or if they get desperate enough maybe even break into some houses.

Hmmm... Hmmm...

Oh... and I agree that Pathfinder Goblins with a wisdom penalty instead of a CHA penalty makes sense. It also makes Goblin Pyromancers much more viable...

Hmm. You know, I find it helps me if I don't call them "hobgoblins." If I say "Medieval Klingons," I feel much better n.-

Actually, if you hate hate hate HATE the Drow,

Spoiler:
the Azlanti remnants might be a good substitute, especially ones who're under Aboleth sway. The Golarian CS book has a small section on amphibious Azlanti who work for the Aboleth. Perhaps they have a hate-on for the Elves for abandoning them when the world ended, or perhaps their piscean masters want them to finish the job and wipe all humanoid life off the world... and the Elves are the only ones who've tumbled to the truth.

You misunderstand... it's not that I dislike the drow I just really like Goblins.

I say go for it. Some people might be shocked when an elf turns into a drow, but imagine the surprise that will hit your party when you reveal that elves turn into goblins!

I bet nobody sees that coming.

Actually...the more I think about it, the more I like the idea. Hmmm...

Oh, my bad.

Well, unfortunately, while I have no problem imagining Golarian Goblins as a race, coming up with the idea of "Let's drop a huge rock on them..." *beat* "... from Space!" *Goblins all cheer!*

... And I have no problem with the idea of an individual, wickedly, deviously, clever GG being smart enough to figure out the logistics of it, it's when you try to get large groups of goblins all actually working on the task... well... actually... I think I've changed my mind.

If you don't mind the Adventure Path kind of turning into a darkly whimsical comedy, that could be hilariously awesome!

On the racial history front:

Spoiler:

I'm pretty world neutral, and the Drow transformation is one of the nicer ideas I've seen in a fantasy plot for a while.

Tolkein's orcs were elves transformed by the power of the dark lord.... nothing stopping you saying Elves--> Orcs/Goblins, Elves --> Mindflayers or Elves-->Gnolls even, if you prefer a different reading on the drow racial history. The plot would still work without too much difficulty.
