Kirwen Wyrmsheart |
AoO with silver mace (two-handed) (1d20+3=10, damage 1d8+3=8)
And... Kirwen drops again. At -7.
Thrakhir Flyingaxe |
Thrakhir moves up to K2 and attacks the wererat with the golden bracelet.
Attacking the wererat (1d20+1=12, 1d6+1=3).
That's 13 for an attack but I doubt it matters.
Black Tom |
OK, I'll post for Quick to keep this moving.
Quick sighs, exclaims "Here goes nothing!" and releases a burst of healing energy, granting everyone 6 hp. Clark comes to, but happily only one of the fallen wererats, and it is disabled.
Raven is out of spells and withdraws to A1. The dire rats move to F2 and G3. One bites Juliare for 2 points. The wererat unsuccessfully tries to bite Brock and the braceleted one advances to J3 and stabs Quick for 2 points.
Thrakhir, Brock, Quick and Juliare (and Kirwen who needs to make another DC 11 Fort save)
Kirwen Wyrmsheart |
(and Kirwen who needs to make another DC 11 Fort save)
Kirwen's still out, if no longer dying.
Fort save (1d20+2=7)Thrakhir Flyingaxe |
I can't keep track of where everything is, but Thrakhir wants to take a melee whack at the bracelet wearing wererat.
Thrakhir takes position next to the braceleted wererat and attempts a might swing against his foe.
Attacking the bracelet wearing wererat. (1d20+2=15, 1d6+1=2)
Juliare |
Tom I was in G3 (not that's really important)
First , you have two attacks from the dire rats because Juliare moves to G8 (don't you hate it when some move off the map:) ) and fires at the dire rat in F2 .
Att 23 Damage 5 (silver) , that's more like it !
In elf
Tom where would the next passage be ?
Black Tom |
I'll just post for Brock and Quick rather than holding up the game indefinitely.
Brock's silvered axe bites into the wererat, but it still stands - until Quick zaps it with her lightning.
Juliare backs away from the dire rats (and is bitten for 3 points in the process) and fires an arrow into one of them.
Raven and Clark try to collect Kirwen and drag him out of harm's way. The braceleted ratman takes a stab at Clark, but it's deflected by his armor.
Finding himself alone, the wererat opts for the better part of valor and withdraws, disappearing out of sight (unless you choose to follow).
The dire rats following Juliare seem to know how to bite where it hurts. Surrounding him, they go for the veins and bite him for 15 points. They are now at G7 and G9.
Thrakhir, Juliare, Brock and Quick are up. What do you do?
The next intersection is about 30 feet from Juliare's position.
Thrakhir Flyingaxe |
If feasible, Thrakhir moves to engage a dire rat with his axe.
Attack dire rat (1d20+2=10, 1d6+1=7)
This is getting old!
Quick and Spark |
Hey guys, sorry for disappearing on you all. There have been a number of things that have popped up recently to provide me with enough reason to leave PBPs altogether. That's the last thing I want to do. I'm so happy with our little group here. I don't want to abandon it. Instead I'll just apologize for being distant, and make more of an effort to be around.
Happy to see the were-rat flee, Quick's attention turns to Juliare's screams at the other end of the tunnel. Curling her lip, she sends a blast of electricity at the one closest to her, hoping to discourage it from biting her companion any further. "I'm right here, you over-grown rat!", she yells at the thing. "Why not pick on something your own size!?" Ironically enough, the cliché is appropriate.
New Map Here. Thanks for making do without a map until now. I've expanded it a little bit. I'm certainly learning lots about photoshop in the process. For Thrakhir to get to the dire rat, he'd need to make a double move, but he gets there.
Black Tom |
The wererats flee in terror at the sight of the combined onslaught of Thrakhir, Quick, Brock and Clark. Quick's remaining channelings should be enough to get all of you on your feet, so I hereby declare the combat over.
You all receive 1000 xp for your trouble.
Do you want to get out of there as fast as possible or will you take the time to search their lair first?
Also, you all need to make two Fortitude saves.
Juliare |

I think I need to know how much will Quick heal ( since I am actually staggered (0 hp)for the time being ... )
Thrakhir Flyingaxe |
Fortitude saves (1d20+1=9, 1d20+1=21). Oh, natural 20 on the second roll!
If the door has been left open, Thrakhir will make a quick check into the wererat den. I'm only going to go in about 40' and see if I see anything quickly. If it seems to go on much further, then I'll turn around.
Black Tom |
Thrakhir disappears into the den of the wererats.
Thrakhir
Thrakhir Flyingaxe |
Black Tom
Throw everything in my bag that I find quickly, including the lockbox and the letter and get the heck out as quickly as possible.
Thrakhir returns from the doorway. "Let's be gettin' outta here, now!" he says to the group and makes his way back to the entrance to the sewers.
Black Tom |
You prudently clear out from the sewers, Thrakhir lugging the heavy iron box and whatever else he may have picked up in there.
The safest place to seek refuge would probably be at the Asclepius temple, if for no reason other than that there is safety in numbers. Also Beamus has probably a few channelings to spare, and could even treat your wounds. At least Kirwen gets quite an ugly scar in his belly and also develops a nasty infection.
I don't have my books here so I can't give you a rundown of the loot right now, nor the details of Kirwen's disease. Brock and Clark need to make a couple of saves.
Kirwen Wyrmsheart |
If the scar results in Cha drain, I'm going to have to look into a restoration, because I kinda need my casting stat to be as high as possible...
Why do all my characters in your games get wasting illnesses, BT?
EDIT: In answer to BT's question over in the discussion thread,
As the group makes its way out of the sewers and heads toward the temple, Kirwen rumbles, "Best we be looking for a way outta town pronto. Maybe we've done a good deed today, but I'm thinking it's not gonna buy us a lot of friends round here even so. 'Sides, there's a bounty on some bandit's I'd like to take a slice of."
Brock Brightmore |
what saves do I need to make
"Lets get healed up then outta town, Will clear are heads tonight and discuss the bandits tomorrow when we all are well slept and full of bacon."
Brock lets out a sigh, what happen in there was luck and if one thing would have been different they all could have died.
He looks up then his thoughts clear and he smiles, they didn't they had fought like warriors ever one of em and he was proud "You don good everyone, It was a damn good fight!".
Later when there on the road out of town he looks to the Bald man and says "Well you gonna be okay there, looks like you might be sick."
I'll level up my character like I should of awhile ago soon.
Clark Freeman |

I presume Fortitude saves? IC is not letting me on, so here's some home-rolled saves. 1d20+4, rolled twice.
Fortitude save: 20
Fortitude save: 8
Clark's profile is not up yet, but it's 80% done. I hope to have it up in a moment.
Black Tom |
Apart from the stuff mentioned in the spoiler to Thrakhir, the iron box contains 125 gp, a gold plated ink and pen set (75 gp), sex gold segnet rings (5 gp each), 10 small sapphires (10 gp each), a breast plate, a masterwork handaxe and a silver candelabra (45 gp).
Clark is the hero of all the freed slaves, and diverse people insist on bringing him gifts , bringing him up to standard starting gold.
Black Tom |
Thrakhir:
Tousice,
I don’t care a whit about the Temple of the Moon or any commotion that you speak of. All I know is that we had an agreement, which I am sure has been mutually profitable. Your task was a simple one, supplying us with victuals, and you can’t say that we have been choosy about the quality of the goods that you and your kind have deigned to bring us.
But it’s been several days now and we are famished. You had better not renege on your offer, or else we shall be forced to find other ways to slake our thirst, and I can assure you that you will not find them at all pleasant.
Remember who you are dealing with. You’d better bring us something soon, and it had better be good.
Regards.
T.P. This is actually a convoluted signature where only the letters T and P are clearly discernible.
According to Beamus Kirwen is suffering from a virulent form of Filth Fever (DC 14).
Juliare |
Assuming there has been at least one channeling ( Tom ? ) Juliare will go back to the mission with the others
He 'll ask Beamus help with treatment for lycanthropy for the group for those bitten . If necessary , he'll then go buy some belladonna
'Let's keep the breastplate at least for either Clark or Brock and we should divide the gems beetween us '
He'll then go see the captain of the guard ...
Thrakhir Flyingaxe |
Black Tom and Kirwen
Thrakhir pulls Kirwen aside when the others are not present and shares the note with him. See BT's spoiler above for details, Kirwen.
What are you makin' of this? 'Thirst' is soundin' awfully devilish. Should we report this to the boss?"
Can I take a knowledge (local) or perception check to decipher the handwriting. Both are at the same +5 bonus.
Knowledge (local) or perception check (as the case may be, if applicable). (1d20+5=23)
"Sellin' sounds fine with me."
Additional loot from the spoiler above is 48 sp, 13 gp, a 12-piece set of finely crafted flatware (worth about 70 gp), a silk cape (25 gp) a pair of gold bracelet shaped like intertwined snakes (20 gp each) and a masterwork flute.
I would like the masterwork handaxe and a sapphire.
Black Tom |
He'll then go see the captain of the guard ...
Bragger Bondhome is not available. The guard on duty smiles a grin revealing a missing tooth. "Say, aren't you one of the maniacs that got kicked out of town for raiding the temple? I'm sure Bondhome would like a word with you. Please come back tomorrow."
Black Tom |
Thrakhir:
You think you have seen that kind of P on the Pulanti sigil. The Pulantis is one of the oldest and most powerful families of Endhome. They keep a much lower profile than the Quinchinos though, so you don't know much about them or their activities.

We should move the loot discussion over to the discussion thread. Tom, can we assume we'll have a chance to run to some back-alley pawnshop to sell this stuff before we have to leave town?
Clark Freeman |
Clark asks Raven for a moment alone:
After speaking to her quietly for a short time, he quickly walks back to the others.
"I know my opinion isn't worth much yet." He looks at the scarred dwarf when he says this, "but I think out of town after the bandits is a pretty good option, too. Thanks to the generosity of my friends," he shows the results of the beggars' and street vendors' "passing the hat," "I should be able to get some armor and will take my place at the front of the fight next time. I certainly owe you all that much."
If Brock wants the breastplate, Clark's willing to purchase his scale mail from him for sale price. Otherwise, he will take the breastplate or buy some armor, given the opportunity.
Brock Brightmore |
I think I'll take it sorry bro I need the armor
As Brock heads out of town with the others Healed? he thinks about all his friends gone. Quick's gone, Hessian gone, and his half-elf friend gone long before him, on his own adventure. He cant help but think this life is a life where you lose people.
He looks to Juliare and smiles "Just me an you left friend, and all these new lads, cant wait to see what trouble we get ourselves in outside the city!"
He laughs hard and walks the rest of the night with a smile on his face, not sure if its the unknown ahead or the thoughts of valor in battles not yet come to pass.
Fort Save:1d20+5=20
Black Tom |
Beamus isn't powerful enough to undo the ratmen's curse, but he thinks that he could twist the arm of high priest Thaban of the Sun temple. After all, you're a bad enough headache as it is, and it wouldn't look good if the city was once again swarming with wererats just because of his negligence.
But since you can't pay for the spells, he wants a favor from you.
I'm going on vacation for a week. More about the quest as I return.
