Liberty's Edge

There have been a lot of good ones here - I don't envy Jason in trying to weed through all of these and being forced to limit them to X number of them.

I like Eric Meepos' Naked Fury. I always loved the notion of the vikings or celts that charged naked in to battle. Good stuff!

Rip the arm off is a great one. Hopefully a good mechanic can be set up wtih that.

The curb skull-crushing and damaging ones face and charisma is good popcorn flick ideas for barbarians for sure - I got a good chuckle with that one.

Okay here are my contributions:

Cornered Beast
When a barbarian fails to make a save vs fear while not raging, this power immediately kicks in, removing the fear condition and sends the barbarian into a fit of rage lashing out against the opponent that scared him. The barbarian must attack relentlessly against that one opponent until one or the other is destroyed, or until the barbarian can no longer rage.

(Essentially this power represents many creatures natural instinct to attack something that started them relentlessly - thanks to the adrenalin that fear causes you)

Roaring Sight (or Howling Sight)
As a move action the barbarian roars a blood-curdling roar that he uses to perceive hidden creatures within 30 feet of himself, much like the echo-location of a bat. This ability effectively gives the barbarian a +10 on spot checks to find any creatures hiding via their Stealth skill. It also removes partial concealment completely and reduces full concealment to partial concealment.

(Vikings were known to holler to find coastlines while sailing in the fog)

Howling Counter
A barbarian can howl and roar for a full round, drowning out the sounds of others. This grants himself and all within 30 ft of him a +4 bonus to all saving throws that are based on sound that occur for that round.

(I know it kinda sounds like countersong of a bard, but there's no reason the barbarian couldn't do a little aiding in this area as well - and the fluff of a roaring barbarian gives it credence.

An idea revolving around the barbarian gaining power when battling multiple foes:

Surrounded! (Ex)
When you are outnumbered and surrounded, you fight more furiously.

When three or more foes threaten you in melee, you can choose to gain one additional attack at your highest attack bonus. However, this attack and all other attacks this round are at -2 to hit. You must attack at least 2 different foes when using this power.

Could be useful when combating multiple, weak opponents.

Wile E. Coyote Totem(Su)
A barbarian with this power gains 3 separate abilities:

1)He may fall any distance and take no damage from the fall. Upon impact of any solid surface he creates a pit 1d4x5 feet deep, which he falls into and is stunned for one round. This is an always on ability.

2)When subjected to any attack with the fire descriptor, as an immediate action, he may choose to take no damage from the attack, and instead turn black as coal, with all hair standing on end. He is stunned and stares blankly for one round.

3)Whenever the barbarian rolls a 1 on any attack roll, he must choose 2 cards from the critical fumble deck.

Inspiring Rage (Ex): The barbarian grants all allies within 30 feet burst +1 Morale Bonus to attack rolls and saving throws for one round.

I like the concept of this power: an inspirational show of ferocity that buffs one's allies. I think the +1 bonus is pretty modest and should last longer than 1 round.

Fearless Rage (Ex): The barbarian is completely immune to fear, magical or otherwise. The barbarian must be at least 4th level before selecting this power.

Good one.

I'd like to see some rage powers that combine well with the combat maneuvers, perhaps giving bonuses to bull rush and sunder, which seem particularly barbaric.

I'd also like a rage ability that allows the barbarian to make some tactical movement without provoking attacks of opportunity. Maybe an ability that simply gives a good bonus to Acrobatics, or lets the barbarian move through threatened squares without provoking attacks of opportunity when charging or bull rushing. That seems to have the right barbarian flavor.

Finally, I'm not a fan of Roused Anger, because it negates one of the few downsides to the rage ability: getting sidelined for a relatively short period after raging.

Preternatural Agility (Ex)
While in a rage a barbarian who chooses this power is capable of amazing feats of agility. As a swift action, the barbarian may take 10 on any one skill check from the following list (Acrobatics, Climb, Escape Artist, Swim). This power may also be used as an immediate action in certain situations as well (such as to make a strength check to catch a ledge when being bull rushed over a ledge, etc.)

The purpose of this power is to enhance the barbarian's indirect combat/non-combat physical prowess.

Feral follow through:Activate this ability as a swift action. As a standard action make a melee attack against an adjacent opponent. If you hit, make a grapple check as a free action. This grapple attempt does not provoke attacks of opportunity. If the grapple check succeeds you enter the foe's square and can make a free bite attack against the opponent (1d4+Str for medium, 1d3+str for small if you do not possess a natural bite attack). You may continue the grapple as normal or release the opponent at then end of your turn moving into an open adjacent square.

This is a good ability for a variety of reasons. First it can add a few more points of damage, second it is a tactical maneuver since you can use it to move through squares without provoking Opportunity Attacks and third, it is just degrading to your opponent.
