I think that the Fighters's poorer cousins (Barbarians, Paladins and Rangers)should be shown some love by allowing them to take Fighter only feats at a +3 level adjustment (as feats are gained at odd levels). They are supposed to be warriors after all.
eg: a 7th level Paladin with Weapon Focus should be able to take Weapon Specialization as his/her feat.
The Fighter should still be better in a fight than them, but at least they shouldn't feel like second stringers in combat as much.

I disagree, that would ruin the point of making fighter-only feats.
All the classes have been revamped, including the pseudo-fighters such as the barbarian, ranger and paladin.
The idea is to give more peps to the Fighter.
But the Fighter still gets more feats than any of them and would still get the feat 3 levels earlier.

Sorry, i realized my initial response was wrong, as i thought the OP was talking about something else. That will teach me to read more carefully the posts before trying to play smart and type a response. So i deleted it.
Let me start over.
I thought the OP was talking about the Pathfinder fighter abilities or the fighter-only feats which are currently discussed.
For these, they should stay fighter only, or that would ruin their point.
But i agree for weapon mastery line feats (weapon focus, specialization etc). I agree rangers and paladins should be able to access them. Maybe barbarians too, if it fits their background and training.
As a matter of fact i allow these feats to all, with only the required BAB.

Well if you want fighters to be special than you can really be giving out their main toys to others. jason has said feats will be the only mechanic that allows fighters to be useful so if you start giving away his only mechanical advantage, then he really has nothing he couldn't get somewhere else and have gravy on the side for free

Fighter only feats are an important part of what makes the fighter stand out as its own class. As such, they will probably be expanding when we get to the Feats section of the playtest. Right now, I highly doubt that we will be opening up these feats to other classes.

The only feats I'm going to allow to be taken by melee classes are the Specialization feats. The fighter gets Weapon training and Mastery, thus I'm allowing the other melee classes to take Weapon Focus and Specialization to try to keep up with the fighters increases effectiveness in combat...Because rage, favored enemy and smite don't get anywhere near the fighters new dmg capability. (simply because they are limited use.)
And if the Fighter training does become +1/1d6 per teir, then it will be even more of a gap.
In addition I would propose Weapon Spec increase dmg 1d6 instead of +2 and Greater Weapon Spec do +2d6 dmg rather than +4. Perhaps limit the ranger to taking Weapon Spec in their Combat Style.
