Male Half-Orc Rogue 1

Soll composes himself and regains his usual bluster, brandishing his falchion as if eager to get to the next fight. "Now where to we go?"

"Check on the survivors, and make sure evryone is alright. Inform the guard of the happenings here. Then I say we go to Mullis, and try to find what in the gods name is happening."

With that Gin turns and heads in the direction the survivor ran.

"Might be a good idea to look for the little scaly ones what ran off, too. And just how did they get those... snake things into those poor people?"

Pavel will look into the dark corners for signs of the kobolds that fled and look for any tracks.

Also, does it seem like the dead kobolds had anything useful on them, especially the shaman type?

The floor of the chamber is pretty hard stone, but you do manage to spot tracks that lead deeper into the complex. The kobold leader's body holds three ceramic jars, a light crossbow designed for a small humanoid, an intricately carved staff, and a piece of paper filled with writing in a language Pavel can't read. The rest of the kobolds have short spears and wear leather armor. There are twelve of them.

Kelindra's top priority is the survivors.

Kelindra approaches Pavel and lightly rests a hand on his shoulder. "I must see to it that the prisoners get to safety, but...are you injured?"

Spoiler:
The note is written in draconic. It say [i]Kruthmaon, the boss grows weary of your setbacks. We must know if you can activate and control the portal. We must pry the secrets of the shodows from their guardians if we are to restore the ancient ways and reawaken our masters. The boss asures me that you will suffer gravely if you continue to disapoint him. Rimebane.

As the rest of the group perform their various tasks, Soll stands by the edge of the doorway with his falchion still drawn, ready to strike any uninvited guests.

"Thanks, but I got lucky; not a scratch." He taps a finger to his crooked, oft-broken nose. "Or at least, no new ones. I found some tracks we might should follow, if you're up for it once the prisoners are square. You think you and Gin need someone to watch your back or should I stay here and keep an eye?"

"I think it may be best if you stand guard here. Gin and I wont be gone long and the necromancer says the way is clear...not sure how he knows that, but he seems competent enough." Kelindra gives an involuntary shudder. She then follows Gin to help the rescued prisoners get to the safekeeping of the outside guards.

The passage through the tunnel to deliver the liberated captives is quick and soon Gin and Kelindra are back with the rest in the pillar chamber.

"What do you think about this, Kelindra? I mean what is something like doing here? Are those people going be okay? Is what happened to those last hostages going to happen to them...us?" Gin asks in an obviously depressed, and paniced tone.

Kelindra grasps Gin's hand and squeezes. She allows him a moment to take a deep breath. "I don't know, and I'm afraid too. But we're going to watch each others' backs and get through this together. This abomination may be an artifact of the Ancients, or some sinister magic of the titanspawn. Now that we have a glimpse of its power, we can be more on our guard. We're going to get to the bottom of this evil and we're going to stop it...together."

This was some one else plans. Some one called Rimebane, it seems. This may be a portal or something like it. This sad creature was trying to control it. Rimebane had a boss , and they plan to awaken things best left slumbering it seems"

"Well. Don't that beat all. Good thing we're here to stop it, then. Say, I just wanted to ask... how long have you been keeping a dead rat in your pocket? Did you bring that with you all the way from out West?"

Male Dwarf Cleric of Abadar 2

I have 3 others, I will need to find more soon. I do not think it will be hard to find or create a dried rat corpse. There is other things I could use, rats are just easy to come by and light to carry. After the spell has run its course the body will decompose swiftly."

Pavel grimaces. "Just joking around there, but never mind. I'd be, ah, cautious about any "studies" you conduct here in Mithril. Rats are one thing, a zombie kobold might be something else entirely in the eyes of the... well, everyone. I don't know what kind of penalty necromancy takes around here, but it's probably similar to pick pocketing in Hollowfaust."

"Minus the being reanimated part.", he adds.

Once Kelindra and Gin get back with the rest of the group, Pavel draws his sword again.

"Are we ready to go?"

male Halfling Factotum / 2

Ivo spends the waiting time searching the area they are in, and with brief explorations down the unexplored tunnels. Not more than what he can run in a round (40').

OOC: Takes 20 on searches till they return.

Ivo spots a suspicious looking stone on the floor. Bending over to examine it, it appears to be the trigger for some kind of trap. Just beyond the passage is partially walled off with stones and there is a shuffling noise from the area beyond. Just before the barricade are two wooden doors, one on either suide of the hallway.

Male Half-Orc Rogue 1

Soll grips his falchion. "Yuh. Wanna go find treasure. Wanna kill more scaly men..." He pauses for a moment, then cocks an eye at Pavel. "Those scaly men. They have treasures?" he says pointing at the dead kobolds.

Hmm... apparently certain facial expressions are against the rules. :P

"Eh, depends what you mean by "treasures". We have a decorative stick, a note, three jars and a lot of tiny weapons and armor."

Gall looks at the Necromancer in disgust as he speaks so calmly of making more of his vile creations
"I will show you how unnecessary your abominations are worshipper of Death" And at that the Wild Druid crouches down and proceeds to make strange noises that sound nothing so much as like the squeakings and titterings of a rat.

To the amazement of all those watching, after a few moments, three normal sized rats come running up to the large man and start squeaking and jumping all over him as he pets them, as if they were cats or dogs! He continues "speaking" to them for a few moments more and then they all take off in three different directions.

Spoiler:
Gal asks his rat friends if they have recently seen any creatures matching the 'kobolds' (he doesn't know what they are but I do) description. He then asks them to spread out and go look for them now and come back and let him know where they are and how many. I leave it up to your discretion as to what kind of info he can get from creatures of limited intelligence such as rats.

He then turns back to Branomonrik "Your Undead Abominations shall never be able to replace to Beauty and Function of the Living, deviant" And with that he moves off to find out what has captured Ivo's attention.

Male Dwarf Cleric of Abadar 2

Branomonrik looks at gal in puzzlement " Yet you condemn them to death. My scout is beyond life his destruction means nothing. Those have life yet you use them like puppets as I do my scout.'

He gives a cold smile to Gal " Now what is more evil, using the dead so the living my be spared, or forcing living creatures to go into danger and death to keep you safe? How very enlighted of you"

He looks to the departing rats " In any case the deaths you cause will solve my replacement problem" He pats his pouch and moves off toward the rest of the group his staff clicking on the stone as he walks.

Kelindra scratched her head. The strange necromancer certainly has a point. "Gentlemen, could we, perhaps, save the philosophical debate for later?"

She looks at Pavel and shrugs. "Stealth isn't my forte. I'm ready whenever the rest of you are. Send me in front if you wish."

Spoiler:
They tell you that they have seen something like that lairing here for a few weeks. Then earlier, they scurried back into the tunnels and they had an argumet with larger creatures that smell of dog and torment the rats. When they come back they tell you that only the dog people remain in the tunnels ahead.

They appear to be ordinary jars with a wax seal around the lid. They slosh when they are shaken.

Male Half-Orc Rogue 1

Soll shrugs after holding one of the ceramic jars to his ear and giving it a shake.
If no one else wants any, I pocket them.

Male Half Elven Wild Druid / 1 XP:1,340/2,000

Even though Gal never had any intention whatsoever of sending his rat friends into harm, he ignores the death mage and simply growls under his breath. He does worry though somewhat now about the safety of his tiny friends. When they return safely to him and give him their report he internally breaths a sigh of relief. He then stands and address the Necromancer in particular and the group in general "I heard that mages were of great understanding, yet you have none. You focus on death so that is what you see. I do not 'command' these little ones, they are my friends and I ask for their help. Never would I think to Sacrifice them as you so casually say. They are small and know these tunnels well and are skilled in fleeing from harm. And as you can see, they have returned safely. You reek of Death and it has damaged your mind. Do not again assume your warped ideals are the same as mine. I support Life, you worship Death. You shall never understand."

He then focuses his attention on the rest of the party "My little friends have informed me that the creatures we saw before had been in the place for what we would call several weeks. There does not seem to be any more of them nearby. However my friends have seen other creatures up ahead, these have the aspects of dogs. They can lead us to where they are. I say we go and eliminate them from these sewers as well."

GM Only

Spoiler:

Gal will thank his friends and, if the party agrees, will ask the rats to lead him to where they saw the dog-like creatures. He instructs them to be careful and make sure they stay out of harms way. He also performs a K Nature (1d20+6=9) check to see if he can recognize what the creatures are from the Rats description. If he can, he will name them to the party (you can write that part if necessary)

Male Dwarf Cleric of Abadar 2

" If you say Fanatic, death is a part of life and a thing of evil. All things live and all things die. Death is a tool to be used and explored like any other. You seem to think me damaged, yet you forth at the mouth like a rapid dog."

He joins the others his staff taping across the floor.
" Your dislike and misunderstanding of may magics have no bearing on the task at hand. Your misconceptions and hate matter little to me. Let us go the spawn need cleared from this place before more town folk fall pray to them. Then after we have cleared the minions we can hunt the master"

Male Half Elven Wild Druid / 1 XP:1,340/2,000

"Again, you show your lack of understanding. Death is not a part of Life, Death is the Absence of Life. Death is what is left when Life has moved on. And as such the forms of those now deceased should be respected for the Life which was once in them, not be yanked around like puppets for your amusement you foul creature. I do no know why I waste my breath on one such as you, you shall never understand the sanctity of Life. Butyou are right in this, there are much more important matters now then my attempt to bring Life into your Lifeless soul"

And with that, unless there are any objections, Gal beings moving in the direction indicated to him by his rat friends as to where the Dog-like creatures are. Shaking his head and grumbling and growling to himself as he does.

"Would you two kindly cool it. You both have good points. Personally Branomonrik makes a bit more sense. But, I would rather deal with more of those abominations than listen to this again." Gin rubs his aching brow.

AC 21 (20)/T 13/FF 17; CMD 24, HP 76/76

"Well, point the way, either of you. The way I see it, we can stick to the same plan: me, Soll and Gin up front, sneaking. Then comes our capable priestess, wildman, necromancer and treasure finder, of course. And let's try to save the fight for the titanspawn, yeah?"

Just in case we're moving along:
Perception (1d20+6=10)
Stealth (1d20+5=25)

Male Half Elven Wild Druid / 1 XP:1,340/2,000

As stated, Gal is Already on the move and as he goes along he casually morphs back into his big golden wolf form. Any who wish to are welcome to come along.

As his rat friends are currently leading him though, and as he, in his wolf form at least, is definitely a 'sneaky type' seems it makes sense for him to be in front. Stealth; Perception (1d20+6=22, 1d20+6=21)

(PS-The original order Was Gal & Pavel, and perhaps Ivo in front I believe, yes?)

Dark Archive

Male Lesbian Cyborg Bastard Child of Paizo 18

The rest of the party moves into the tunnel to join Ivo. Gal's little friends inform him that the kobolds were staying in the chambers on either side of the hallway. From beyond the barricade, in the darkness, you can hear a strange, almost inhuman laughter.

Ivo Only

Spoiler:
Do you mention the trap you found to the others?

male Halfling Factotum / 2

Ivo returns to the party when he hears the voices of the returnees and gleefully reports what he saw, and heard.

"Oh and by the way, look out for that loose stone, I think it's a trap" he continues in his nonstop prattle.

AC 21 (20)/T 13/FF 17; CMD 24, HP 76/76

"Much obliged."
Pavel gingerly steps around where Ivo indicated the suspect stone.

"All right. Let's see what's so gods-damned funny..." Pavel turns to Kelindra before proceeding to kick in the left door. "I beg your pardon, Ms. Snow."

He then proceeds to kick in the door, sword at the ready.

AC 21 (20)/T 13/FF 17; CMD 24, HP 76/76

Surprised and a bit saddened, Pavel lowers his blade.
"Wha... well, ah..."
He looks to and fro throughout the room, looking for anything of note, then clears his throat.
Sense Motive (1d20+2=3)

Still trembling, but less cautous now, the kobold called Beppo says, "Turpik and Beppo only kobolds left. The rest were killed by the nasty, stinky dog boys. They said kobolds are useless because shaman could not open shadow portal Turpik and beppo get away and hide. You give Beppo and Turpik sword, we lead you to stinky dog boys and help you kill them. Beppo promise." Beppo seems sincere in his desire to help.

"Ya, let's give swords to the ones responsible for the capture of Mithril citizens. Not to mention the turning of two of them into abominations."

"I say we finish them off here, before they hurt anyone else."

Dark Archive

Male Lesbian Cyborg Bastard Child of Paizo 18

The kobold squeals, "No, kobolds don't want to hurt anyone," he pleads. "Stinky dogboys makes us take softskins and hurt them. We don't want to hurt anyone. Give us swords and we prove it, kobolds honor."

Male Half-Orc Rogue 1

The half-orc leers at the kobolds. "Why not give little men swords back? They try hurt us, we kill they. More fun too!"
