Ok, for now i keep this at "describe as best i can, and use filthy DM fiat on anything else". :) But i would like a bit more input from the rest of you. How much do you want to play the tabletop game? I personally like tactical play, but haven't seen it very successful online - but that may just be me.
Alternatively: Is there some relatively cheap mapping software anyone of you knows? A few years back, i would have jumped and hacked something together myself, but i don't have that time anymore.
I've already gave my 2cp so I'll let others jump in but just wanted to say that if you check those two PbP's I mentioned they both seem to use tactical play very successfully...

I like the format we're playing in TN. IT only really matters if we get a bit confused where everyone's standing.
For free mapping stuff try [link] http://rptools.net/doku.php [/link]
It allows you to imbed the actual maps from the games (if you jpg them first) or can screen capture them from the pdf's. Then you create icons for the players and villians and away you go.
Only took me about 3 days to work out how to use it for a email game I run. The big problem is then getting the image linked to this site. You use photobucket but I've seen others just paste direct links to the forums, not sure how that works.
Cheers

Hey Val, a great place to access D&D stats is Here , and you can link various pertinent stat info to your character sheet for easy reference, like this- Rage , if you like.(By the way I found Rage under Classes, Barbarian, then in the chart, click on Rage and it brings you right to that section)
Thanks. That was a case of me going off memory and getting my numbers in the wrong place in the heat of the moment.

TerraNova
If you won't allow all this I would at least still like to make the Feat change. If you don't allow it at all I understand as we have already begun. Whatever you say.

GM TerraNova |

I'll allow the alteration this time, since neither of the two effects has come into play in a major fashion yet.
Regarding rules-sites: Please do keep in mind that this is not plain 3.5, but rather Pathfinder - so the SRD might just be wrong in a few cases. Other than that, i agree... great resource they are, especially for monster stats etc.

I like the style of play right now. I am quickly falling in love with these long walls of text being spewed (is that the right word?) from our DM. I especially like the past tense style, and the thought of a deeper narrative verse a more mechanical style of play.
By the way, am I expected to post, as I am on the ground, nearly unconcious? If I must, my move will be to stay down, until I have no enemies nearby, giving me the ability to rise up without provoking an attack of oppurtunity...

About Zalen's idea to take the children to Zellara's house, Ayedah will probably support that if it's mentioned unless someone has a better idea. She's going to be hesitant to leave the area to escort them though and risk Lamm, and what she's looking for, slipping through her fingers. But then most of the characters are going to feel that way too.

![]() |

I don't think we need to escort them. Send them with an address and leave it as is. The older ones should be able to get them there, I'm under the impression at least some of them are "street urchins" working for Lamm as well us just labour for the fish market. We can make sure to round them up and provide help at a later stage.

Khaladon |

Yes, the idea was more along the lines of what Wrath was suggesting..give the address to some of the older 'leaders', make sure they know where it is, give them a note of introduction and explanation for Zellara and send them on their way...
Zalen Will suggest it out loud to the group when they have a chance to gather and confer for a moment. But We have to do this Quick! For every second we wait gives Lamm more time to prepare or escape...

![]() |

Ok, regarding the number of orphans: You count a little more than two dozen "Little Lambs" in the room.
I'll wait a little longer, since i am in a laz^H^H^Hgenerous mood, and would like to give Katryala, Nayr and Krek a chance to post. I will move forward tomorrow... be warned that Nayr has been very "low activity" lately, and i might take him out for now to escort the children home.

![]() |

He did say he was going on holiday and might have trouble posting due to internet stuff. As for Krek...no idea on that one.
I'm feeling pretty ill right now so may struggle for a day or two. If I havn't posted anything useful, Gern will probably hit things as hard as he can as a general tactic. Feel free to play him as you see fit TN.

Khaladon |

"You nimble types may wanna go first and secure that boat they're speakin' of.
I believe the 'boat' Gern is referring to is the big old rotted ship actually. So while I don't think there will be much of a Balancing issue, falling through rotted planks on the boat or the walkway may be a real concern...as evidenced by the recent bitey demise of one scrawny gnome I believe...;-) (although whether he slipped or fell through is not immediately apparent I guess)
Also, just to be clear folks, I believe we currently have two directions to go..either down the trap door to the room below where Ayen said we should probably find Lamm, or onto the Old Ship where she said he may run to if pressed. Is this correct GM? Maybe it might help if we could have an updated map of the warehouse so far? (ie is the blank space-upper floor-one big room or several rooms?)
If it's trapdoor or Ship Zalen votes for trap door first.

![]() |

The room below is actually the walkway on my later map. That is, you hear plenty of noises from the sea, the shark, a few from the ship, and nothing really noteworthy from the room below.
So if Gaedren is in the room (on the western / lower edge of the second map), he is not frantically packing up, or otherwise making a lot of noise.

![]() |

Getting down to the lower pier is not anything inherently threatening and therefore, I'll just skip the rolls. Bottom line: As long as you bring some light source, or have low light vision or better, you can get to the lower pier with no trouble. Going slowly (half movement) will even let you avoid having to do any balance checks. :)

Khaladon |

You can see the underside of the upper walkway from the lower one, but not the other way around.
Use the OOC thread. It is here for a reason. :)
:p Ok my bad again...I was Thinking I had understood that IC was for stuff our characters would directly see or interact with, but..lol
OK, so If I'm understanding it, the lower walkway is directly underneath the upper one? (I Am asking for a reason, not just to be difficult ;-)
OH, and TN, just looking at the maps again, there is no direct access from the ship to the hammock room that we were aware of, correct?

Khaladon |

Ok, my idea is this...if the walkways are overtop each other, maybe it would be safer for the heavier members to use the top walkway? then they might have any extra chance of Not falling through the lower one??
Also, if we want to cover All exists and everyone is now one the ship, maybe we should split the party, one group covers the top walkway, the other the bottom with Jillian and I leading them to try and find the safest path?
Or Alternatively, we could just wait for a bit at the entrance to the walkways and see if anyone comes running along them?
Either way, I think we really need to cover both if we want to insure Lamm doesn't escape. Also obviously we better fully search this lower section (ie the small storage rooms or whatever thay are now) to make sure Lamm isn't hiding somewhere.
Thoughts?

Khaladon |

lol Ok, well, while Picasso you may not be, the map is perfect, at least for me, in getting an idea of perspective, so very much appreciated GM. <Bows>
And So Nix my idea about the lower walkway protecting from falling through the upper walkway...
But I Still think it's a good idea to split the party to cover both exits from the ship

Khaladon |

It is outside. Just as a headsup, though... the door on the lower ship leads the the "cellars" of the fishery proper, not onto the ship. And these cellars are what the girl told you Gaedren is hiding at.
But didn't she also say that if threatened Lamm might hightail it to the ship? (I'm not 100% sure if we've seen them both or not yet, but0 it also looks like there's two row-boats we need to sink to make sure no one gets away on them.

Khaladon |

Zalen will likely be just ahead of Gern, probably behind Jillian by the red X, as we both would have wanted to test the rotten planks before the Heavy Dwarf did.
BTW GM, Does this mean we already finished searching all the little rooms or lockers under the hammock room??

![]() |

Regarding the search of the Fishery: Not quite yet, I gathered that the general consensus was to take care of Lamm first (lest he gets away), and loot the place later.
Update once i know where everyone stands, or otherwise tomottow night. Sorry to slow things down here :( Annoying, but it could be critical.

![]() |

Agreed TN, no point looting whilever there's enemies about. It always struck me as strange to have players do a thorough search of every room when the enemies knew they were coming. My guys quickly learnt that escalates fights in my home game.
As it is, we've left at least one person in the upstairs room unnacounted for (The angry youth that first entered while the rogues were scouting i believe) No idea where he's gone to. Hopefully he's as cowardly as the gnome was and want come after us while we're all exposed on this flimsy walkway.
Cheers

Khaladon |

I believe the angry youth-Giggles?-was Smushed by Ayedah's Huge Hammer
As for looting, not that Zalen's has any problems with filling his pockets at all...but is there not anywhere in those converted rooms/lockers or the general area underneath the hammock room where he could be hiding?? THAT was the purpose of the search...to make sure that he wasn't snuck away somewhere while we walked right by him...
As I make it now, Ayedah, Krek and Kat (are they still with us??) are upstairs and Gern, Jillian, Alandra and Zalen are downstairs.
If it turns out that there is no sign of Lamm directly under the hammock room Zalen will head back up to the top group and perhaps suggest Kat go down to the bottom group if she wishes...I dunno, it's obviously hard to divide us evenly with 7 of us but I was thinking one stealth type in each party, one fighter type in each party and one healer type in each party...

![]() |

My count of baddies so far is
Giggles killed when we entered
Gnome - Dead in the water
Youth - Our sorceror's brother or something (unconcious)
Unknown - Gave orders to the youth and set the dog on us. Evidence he's still alive is the skid marks in the slimy room upstairs where the rats are feeding. Leading into unexplored area upstairs. I may be wrong about him though. I've misinterpreted two things at least that I've read so far this game so its likely.
Not that it matters at the moment since I'm actually on the lower pier near the ship. Weapons ready. Killer gleam in my eye. Looking for Lamm.

Valkyrie Paine |

Right X, er, lower walkway with the others.
No one else hs stated that they plan on going the other way, and Ayedah's really focused on Lamm now. I guess that goes for pretty much everyone though.
I guess if someone made a good argument for splitting up before we move too far along, we might. It just seems we're all on the same page.

![]() |

I certainly hope putting the "little brother" in as one of the thugs didn't scare Kat off. It was supposed to be a little heart-wrenching piece of what you do to survive, but i might have just touched the character the wrong way. It happens.
If so, i wish the player would have dropped me a note. No problem just making him look like the kid brother.

Khaladon |

Ok, I think I'm Finally getting this map layout! lol The red x on map2 is where we Start on the lower floor, yes? I was thinking the whole time the exact opposite, that going down the stairs led us directly into the room underneath and that we had to then make our way towards the ship. But that's not the case, we Start out on the walkway near the ship and have to make our way to the room underneath...right?? lol sorry for my earlier confusion.
OK, so now that's Kat is back with us (and it seems that Krek is not??) why don't we leave him to guard the upper walkway for now and the rest of us proceed into the lower room. Sound Good All?
And do you need a marching order GM? Zalen will volunteer first to search for traps and such (or will aid Jillian if she prefers to do so as I think she may be slightly better at it than she)
(Is it Disable Device or Perception??)
Percep=6
DD=10
(He's obviously too excited at the prospect of finally getting Lamm to concentrate properly :P )

![]() |

You are right in your interpretation. :) Finally, this seems to be clearing up... i was a bit confused what you seemed to be confused about, truth be told.
Kat is of course welcome to join the "lower group", unless she insists otherwise.
Truth be told, i am not going to bother with a marching order right now, unless you insist. :)
