Haha here's one I ran last night...
The PC's are badly injured and in mortal peril, a powerful being (God or whatever) appears and offers to watch over them for the night. Sometime later they are summoned to the temple of this being who explains how pleased he is that the PC's will now be able to return the favour by protecting him as he sleeps.
He climbs into an ornate glass coffin and makes himself comfortable. After a few minutes he opens his eyes and remarks; "I won't be asleep for more that one thousand years... two at the most." And then, ignoring the looks of horror on their faces, promptly falls into a deep slumber.
The PC's may not have the resources to escape the temple, but neither will they age as the years pass.
Okay that's a bit more than one line but what the hell : )
While hunting, the PCs or their animal companion discovers a squabbit--a weird new animal that looks like a cross between a squirrel and a rabbit.
The PCs are invited to a dinner, and then get teleported (unknowingly?) to an identical dining room that is in a ship that is abandoned in the middle of the sea. And someTHING lurks on the ship.... (I used this one in 1st/2nd edition. Basically, there was a shadowwyrm (Aliens Alien) that would transform each PC it killed into another one of it. Each player was playing 2 PCs because there were only 3 players, and it was Oriental, and they wanted to try out all the Oriental Adventure stuff, and it was a college friend and his 2 younger brothers over a long weekend.)
The PCs attack the mayor with hummus.
