If we cannot afford the potions, that is fine. I can personally just stock up on curative scrolls. I just don't want everyone to have to rely on me being alive to heal them. If that's the course we take, Proteus will purchase the scrolls out of his share of wealth.

In order to streamline this process in the future, I am beginning to think that we should set some deadlines the next time we "go back to town" for people to claim what they want and then all items are sold and each person is given their share of gold and can buy what they want.

There's a fair shot that Roylenna would be able to return you to consciousness if the unthinkable should occur. Once you are up and around, hopefully you would be able to do the same for any others that are down. If both of the healers are down, we likely have other issues.

I don't think Proteus should have to purchase the scrolls from his share. And I verified, at least to my reading, that Roylenna cannot use the divine scrolls without Use Magic Device, so we might want to get one that's arcane for to use to get Proteus on his feet. Break glass only if party cleric goes down. But I think the healing should come put of a party fund.

As for the streamlining, it will help a lot if I maintain a list as we run, which is my plan. That way we won't have to spend days trying to figure what we've got before we try to figure out what everyone's getting.

Sorry for not posting more regularly the last couple of days. Been running around and drinking my butt off!

I did want to chime in about the healing potion discussion. I think AinvarG is right. Any items that benefits the party as a whole or in part should come from party funds. That being said I don't have any problem giving up some of my share of the money. I'll give up to 300gp to the cause.

AinvarG:

Spoiler:
I like the idea of two short swords. It just looks cool in my mind. If your worried about overall damage as we gain levels I plan on taking feats like Vital Strike which will increase my damage significantly.

** spoiler omitted **

I agree and Ka'kara willingly donates her full share to the party fund. She's just not a material girl as long as she is fed and warm.

I, too, think party healing should be out of the party's cash. (nods fervently)

Hella could use that MW dagger. She doesn't get into melee, by choice at least, all that often, but every little bit helps. She would gladly donate whatever her share of the gold is towards healing. And she also wouldn't mind donating to the 'Get Sandros a MW Rapier Fund' either.

Hella hasn't been with you all long enough to deserve a full share of the treasure, obviously, but how much did the treasure that we are selling turn out to be worth?

Thalyn:

Spoiler:
That's fine - I'm not trying to change your fighting style, I'm just trying to take advantage of the bonus for the longsword. We can certainly use the cash if we sell it. I will assume that it's in the shared pile.

Everyone:

I think I have a consensus on what people want to keep and sell, so I will calculate up what the shared pile is. Thanks to everyone for their patience.

OK, here's my reasoning - the detailed results will be in Roylenna's profile shortly so that it can be adjusted, if necessary. And let's set a date by which "speak now or forever hold your peace" takes effect -- but I don't want to be the one to do it. Black Tom, maybe?

After feedback from everyone (I think), it appears that the general idea is fine, but there were some adjustments.

1) Consensus is that healing magic comes from party funds, so I will establish a party fund.
2) Consensus appears to agree that Sandros should have a masterwork rapier. Ka'kara, Hella, and Roylenna have offered to contribute to same.
3) Rana has no interest in a longsword, so that will go into the sell pile.

Original total: 2031.18 gp
less Remove Curse: -270 gp
Available to divide: 1761.18 gp

For item #1: Since this doesn't divide evenly six ways and we need a party fund for healing, etc., I propose that we make each split of treasure 250 gp, which leaves 271.18 gp to be used for healing purchases.

For item #2 & #3: I propose that the three ladies pitch in portions of their loot (represented by the resale value of the longsword, 157.5 gp) and Sandros take that sword with the masterwork dagger that's already in his pile to the weaponsmith to purchase a masterwork rapier.

Thanks for your patience - I hope this works for you!

EDIT: I have not taken into account any weapon trade-in values in my calculations.

Black Tom:

Spoiler:
You've got mail! Or, at least, I hope you do. 'Cause if you don't, someone else does. ;-)

I propose purchasing the CLW potion which will be 150 gp and then buy 5 CLW scrolls scribed at level 1 and I will chip in the required 4 gold pieces out of my coin.

I still say we should hold onto the hemp rope and grappling hook.

I am also thinking that a portable ram may be wise considering what we were told regarding the goblin lair we are about to go into. I am willing to purchase it, but give it to Ka'kara.

The rope and grappling hook only account for 1 gp of the total, so consider the "healing kitty" one gp less and chip in a fifth gp, and we should be good there.

The ram sounds like a good idea. I've pretty much wiped out my personal fund with scrolls, but I can contribute a bit and I think Ka'kara was open to spending hers, if need be.

Yes, her money is available for use. Just let me know what the end result is because I am totally confused now. BTW, thatnk you all for figuring all this out.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

That's all good, but with the ram and the masterwork rapier for Sandros (if you can afford it) I consider the shopping closed.

Black Tom wrote:

Proteus can donate some funds to the masterwork rapier if we are still short. Ainvarg, Proteus can go in on the furs for the ogre if you let me know how much that costs. BT, I will also subtract 25 gp for tithing to the church.

Dark Arioch:

I'll let you and Proteus work out whether you need to contribute to the ram or not. After the treasure split, Ka'kara has the following:

Studded Leather, Masterwork
Everburning Torch (2)
50 gp
Sandros' IOU for 57.5 gp

Black Tom:

That sounds great to me. And Sandros has what he needs to purchase the masterwork rapier, assuming he accepts my suggestion.

Proteus:

Roylenna's got the furs covered, but thanks for offering. They were 32 gp altogether if you insist on splitting the cost.

Liberty's Edge

Human (Minkai) Samurai (sword saint) 7 (Order of the Warrior)

I'll take Ainvar's suggestion, which basically means I have the rapier and nothing else, and several people I owe money to, yes? Can you help me determine how much that is, and to whom, Ainvar? I admit to having gotten lost in here as well..

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Excellent. Now go find that crazy barbarian.

Male Human (Alryan) Cleric 3

Proteus will buy the portable ram and give it to the barbarian as we leave town. Consider it among your possessions, Ka'kara.

The Spoils spoiler at the bottom of my profile has the breakdown. I put it there for the sake of being able to update it if there were issues.

Sandros didn't exactly get left out in the cold -- he just got less coin and more gear. You, of course, may have a rapier and a bow that you want to trade in for coin.

Here's Sandros' list:

6 Arrows, masterwork
29 Arrows
Composite Shortbow (Mighty +1)
Dagger, Masterwork
Longsword, Masterwork
5 gp
13 cp
plus there are outstanding IOUs with Hella (50 gp), Ka'kara (57.5 gp), and Roylenna (50 gp).

Is this supposed to be "Rapier, Masterwork" or did I actually wind up with the mw longsword? If it's the latter, I will cheerfully sell that puppy and pay everyone off. At some point I need some backup weaponry, but I'd rather be out of debt.

It's the Longsword from the loot. The "girls" took a hit on their take so that you could claim the extra weapon and trade it and whatever else you chose in toward the purchase of your rapier. The longsword (157.5) and the dagger (151) should cover almost all of the cost of the rapier (320) -- a masterwork arrow or two (6.05 ea) would more than make up the difference.

Or did I screw up my accounting somewhere in trying to get everyone what they wanted?

Keep the masterwork arrows. What is the difference? Proteus will gladly give you the money as, more often than not, you are keeping him out of harms way. The masterwork arrows may come in handy.

No, I get it now. And don't sweat the extra cash, WorsT - I can cover the difference myself. Thanks for getting me straightened out, Ainvar!

Just had to post
I have the image in my head of the ogre plodding away with the two halflings girls under his arms while they chat

There is some intense RP-ing going on, so I don't want to interrupt it, but I do want to push on the action and see to it that everyone is involved.

So, as soon as you've finished your interaction, let's kill some goblins, shall we.

I don't know why I seem to be channeling Belkar at the moment. Just bored and restless, I suppose - bored with RL, that is, not with you.

I hope that didn't drag to much for you all (I've tried but my roleplaying side just won't stay quiet ;). Thought it was time to give some insight into her background. Thanks for humoring me.

I just hope that I didn't come across as unappreciative. I really enjoyed that little exploit. Just trying to figure out how get the game back on track. And don't listen to Belkar.

Just for the record, I thought I'd toss something out here: as of this writing, this game is the 12th longest on the PbP forum (and is only 6 posts out of 10th place), but you have to go all the way to 20th place to find a game that was started after this one, and it has about about 60% of our post count. Go us!

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Go us!

And while I remember, I'll have to amend myself concerning Acrobatics. As far as I understand Tumbling is now done at full speed, contrary to my earlier interpretation. This mainly concerns Sandros, but it will conceivably be important in the upcoming battle royale.

That is (as my girlfriend would say) wicked awesome.

I must say that I truly enjoy the post rate as well as party interaction that takes place in this forum. We have a fine group of players that all seem to work very well together. I, for one, enjoyed Ka'kara's little "escape" attempt, although Proteus is thoroughly distraught.

This is very cool, especially considering at least two of had never done this sort of thing before we started here.

And I have to echo WorsT -- we have such a great dynamic going on here, even with folks being pulled away (or disappearing, if you prefer), we have maintained it.

I for one see this as a great opportunity to butter up the DM. Three cheers for BT! Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray!

Ahem. Do you think he's going to think that was over the top?

A little bit, but I can't fault your effort.

Sorry to hear about your mother Thalyn, but it's priceless that Rana manages to have a staredown with Ka'kara even in your absence.

I just have to say...

I absolutely love the visual we got going on here as the group attempts to storm the Goblin King's lair. I sit and smile everytime I get on the boards at the mental image in my mind of Ka'kara and Proteus, with the portable ram, trying to tackle this door and the rest of the group poking at goblins through murder holes; all the while, we have missiles coming at us in every direction!

I have to agree - the visuals are often stunning with this crew. Hip Hip... um, never mind.

Just so you know what happened, my mom was diagnosed with Fungal Pneumonia and had part of her left lung removed last Friday because of it. The surgery went well but she needed to stay in the ICU longer than anticipated. She is finally doing better and breathing on her own again. I think the worst is over and she will be going home in the next few days.

...so if anybody can point me in the right direction to the nearest goblin I have a lot tension and stress I need to work off :)

And a personal thanks to AinvarG for keeping Rana in the game for me. I love the way you handled Ka'kara and the fighting so far! Thank you!
