Good sirs, can you refresh my memory regarding what xp progression we are using for our game? Not that I'm greedy, but I'm curious if and when third level might find me... OK, I'm greedy.

We're using the medium progression. It's slow, but both the campaign world and the adventure proper are made for a slow progression.

Getting my dot back! Are we gonna rob this prince under glass? Not really Ka'kara's style.

You are just hoping he doesn't sit up and whack us, aren't you?

Sounds good, I just could not remember.

I'm thinking we're looking at hidden tombs here, and Sandros isn't too keen on robbing the peaceful dead himself. I somehow doubt Proteus is going to come across all gung-ho either.

I think the purpose of the exploration at the moment is just to figure out what might be down here, nothing more.

No, Proteus is not down with robbing tombs, either. Let them lay in peace. My purpose is to find Fenton and I doubt that is him.

Considering the height of the tunnels to the tombs, I have this mental image of them building the sarcophagi in place after dragging the components through the tunnels and then dragging the "respected" corpse in to place in the coffin.

Of course, in a world of magic, they could have easily teleported everything into place and just left the cramped access passage for the guardian critters, but still...

Heh, just the opposite actually. If he sits up and attacks than she has a legitimate excuse to whack him until he doesn't move any longer and THEN rob the evil thing blind :)

Just wanted to apologize for overlooking you on the current battle map, Dark Arioch. It wasn't intentional, but I was trying to whip that map out as quickly as possible and it got overlooked.

No offence taken. I figure you just thought I was back near the first room defacing the wall so not quite on the map yet. So no worries, I very much appreciate all the work you put into the maps. Thank you.

Does anyone besides Sandros use a bow regularly? One of us should claim those arrows, but Sandros just picked up the shortsword, so it seems like it should be someone else's turn...

Hi everyone! Sorry I had disappeared so quickly and with no explanation but I got called up by my Unit to go on an extended overseas trip at the last minute.Gotta love the AF! :). I've only been home a short while and I just remembered that I was in this really awesome game run by this guy BlackTom! I've been trying to find out where I left off so I can see what's been happening to y'all. It looks like Rana got NPC'd, no hard feelings of course (the show must go on!). I'm definitely going to keep following the game because you guys rock!

Welcome back! Yeah, we lost you and Grond more or less simultaneously, but we've managed to carry on. Maybe we'll find some way to squeeze you back in!

Glad things went so smoothly with your deployment!

Yeah me too! I love the beach as much as the next guy but a little water would be nice:).

As far as getting back in that's up to BT. I certainly don't want to push anyone out either. I'm certainly happy just to watch too.

Heh, good to hear from you Thalyn. Wouldn't mind seeing you come back in at all but as you say it's up too BT. Besides Ka'kara is curious as to why you are so scared of her... ;) He does have a second group adventuring around in the same world so if there is no room here maybe there is in that group.

Good to see you Thalyn. I also wouldn't mind if BT found a spot for ya, especially considering the circumstances. Glad you're back safely.

Here is a link to the other game, if you got some reading time on your hands. Shisumo and I have just joined up since they lost a couple of players (Kirwen and Thrakhir, respectively).

I'd like to echo the "Welcome Back!" We were a bit concerned about your sudden disappearance, to be honest. I'm told I did a fair impersonation of Rana the first bit you were away. I'll chime in that I'm game for Rana to regain his nerve and join us, but that might be more characters than BT wants in one party.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Welcome back Thalyn.

I must say that I'd prefer five characters, but I did promise to make room for Otto, so you're welcome to join. I'll have to make the proviso, though, that if Otto does return, I'll give him your spot. I hope that's not too harsh.

We've missed Rana, anyway. I think there has only been a few days in game time, so we should be able to work you back in. Just give me some time to think about it. Meanwhile you could always come up with an explanation for your running.

"Well, I think he thought he saw a ghost. I thought she was an angel, but we know better." Winks at the barbarian woman. "But I don't know if Rana even saw the hole in the ceiling or if his first image was of this woman dropping through solid stone..."

Incidentally, since no one else spoke up, I guess I'll grab the arrows.

Thank you so much for the chance to get back in BT. Let me get caught up on everything that has happened since I left and I'll see if I can come up with something to get me back in.

Since I did drop out sudddenly and you did promise Otto a spot should he return I completely understand if you ask me to bow out. I don't like stepping on other peoples toes. Unless they put them under my feet of course!

I'll be reading along and getting caught up in the next few days, I'm really interested to see how Rana was ghosted in my absence!

I must say this is the friendliest band of adventurers I've ever seen. ;)

Oh, and let me tell you, Shisumo, Sandros cracks me up!

Hey, BT. Alright, I'm starting to look through the spells in the Spell Compendium to see if there are any I like.

Thus far, I see Dispel Ward that might be useful on that glyph in the tomb we found. I also like Resurgence, Sign, Spell Flower, and Updraft. All are level 1 cleric spells. Could you take a look at those and let me know if there are any of those I could take in the future?

Thanks.

Scarab Sages

I'm getting closer to being caught up. There has been a lot of posting in my absence! I'm not sure that Rana would have run away from the barbarian woman but I know why it happened. I think he will overcome his fears rather quickly and start looking to rejoin his compatriots soon.

I will be out of town this next week but if BT is willing I can have something ready the monday after next.

You can take Dispel Ward and Sign at any time you prepare spells. Spell Flower and Updraft look mechanically sound to me, but they don't feel quite like Asclepius's portfolio, so you'll have to research them. Resurgence is a tad too strong for a 1st level spell for my liking.

Well, Rana certainly overreacted, but I had to get rid of him somehow. You're welcome back next Monday. We'll see where we are then and how we'll get Rana into the action.

Of course, this goes for Roylenna, too, if there are any sorcerer or bard spells that look interesting.

Roylenna snaps to attention and executes a crisp salute. "Thank you, SIR!"

Seriously, I'll take a look, thanks.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Just a passing note: I appreciate that Roylenna is separating character from player knowledge dealing with the weasel, but you are of course entitled to a Knowledge (nature) check (or whatever is appropriate) as combat starts. In this case it worked out nicely but losing an action could be crucial at another time and I don't want your great role-playing to hamper you unduly... and Roylenna should get some mileage out of her investment in the Knowledge skills, too.

Note that if the DC is 10 or less you don't even have to have the skill to be entitled to a check.

Just noting for the record that I think the message plan is brilliant.

We might be in over our heads, here, folks. AC 21+ and nearly 30 damage in one go?

Shisumo wrote:

Why, thank you, sir. I appreciate that. Too bad it didn't seem to pan out much.

I have a question. Am I correct in my understanding that Vladoff will have to make a save every round he tries to use his sword due to the grease spell? Or, does his first save negate the spell?

WorsT wrote:

That's a good question. The wording of the spell implies the former, but that would make it rather overpowered in my opinion. I'm inclined to go with the second, and say that the first only applies if you pick up an unattended (at the time of casting) greased item.

But it's far from clear, so I appreciate any input.

Liberty's Edge

Human (Minkai) Samurai (sword saint) 7 (Order of the Warrior)

Well, the spell description is pretty specific that it's every round. More importantly, though, it's also clear that if you use the area-effect version, that save is every round too, and I have to say, I think the disarm effect is much, much weaker than being knocked prone.

I would go with the first also based on the wording. It also wouldn't prevent the person from picking up or drawing another weapon and using it, so it's really not terribly overpowered.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

OK, you're right. Also I just noticed that PfRPG upped the duration to 1 minute/level instead of just 1 round/level.

OT: Hey, Arioch!

Spoiler:
Did you decide to pass on joining the L5R game?

I am sorry that I can't do anything for the map right now. I have a B-day party to go to, but I will try to get an update and a post out as soon as I get back.

Female Halfling Rogue 2

Finally, level 2.

We're about to head back to town - we might just run into you there...

...or we might run into ourselves.

Scarab Sages

Heh. I would think that after fleeing Rana would feel completely horrible (read coward) and try to find the rest of you. Finding you on the road to town is well within the realm of possiblities.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

No sign of Otto. Rana is definitely welcome back, and I think I'll put you at the Roadside Inn if you don't have any better ideas.

Hope you have had the time to follow the rest of the group's adventures.

BT:

Spoiler:
I thought that Rana would be out actively seaching for everyone. After leaving them to there possible demise he will go back to the last location he saw them. If he has to search for them Rana will do so as stealthily as possible, fighting only as needed.

Yay! Rana's coming back! Roylenna was torn about following you or staying with the group. Her player, however, knew what was up.

Hey guys, if you're going away for several days now would be a good time to let me know. Otherwise I'll just keep the game running as normal.

Happy holidays to everyone!
