If I were in your enviable position of being able to shepherd someone special through the horror genre for the first time, I'd try to show my favorites first, because if you show the uninspired formulaic schlock first, you'll lose 'em.
Question is... to show The Exorcist or not? I know it's almost forty years old but that one will mess people up and you don't want to send you wife running. You think that film would effect her, or is it somewhat passe by modern standards since so much has copied it since?
I will at some point. I think. I may have to start her on some classic slasher flicks and then go to the actual horror films.
Been awhile any suggestions?

That very conversation broke out earlier on this thread... back around the February 8th posts. Mairkurion then moved the subject over to its own thread: Greatest Horror Films of All Time
There are, IMO, some ideal picks to be found there.

Did you catch my recent horror thread?
EDIT: Do'h. Never trust someone who looks like a friendly husky. They're probably a thing from outer space.

I need to copy them before Tuesday though. Oh that reminds me I need to get all the AA loaded onto my MP3 player soon as well.

NICE TIE-IN TO THE THING!
Makes me wanna burst into a mayonaisse sheened pillar of twisted biomass (they couldn't get the look just right in that scene and they actually used mayonaisse from craft service table. Worked like charm.)

Am I the only one who thinks of "Rocky and Bullwinkle" whenever I hears the name Boris?
Boris and Natasha. Cold War-era children's programming at its best...

Apparently not. <G> That's exactly what I was thinking when I added it there.

I meant to say guys... 40 shows now! Way to go! :-)
Thanks, EtC! We also released 27 RPG Countdowns and 7 or so Open Design Podcasts, not to mention the 4 AA Special Editions for Gen Con last year and then the Mutant Chronicles SE where we interviewed the director of the MC film and Matt Forbeck. That's three scoops of yackety-yak all covered with blabbidy-blab sauce!

Jade,
I did not want you to think I was upset with your post. Your post was what I was looking for. Any one who is held in such high regard should be looked at closely. I have been well aware of legitimate criticism for many years. I have also been inundated with lies, innuendo and half truths for just as long.
I did not want you to think I did not appreciate your response or that I did not see it.
The other, attack style approach I have spoken against before and am just tired of it. I have seen to much of it and have in fact brought a couple of people to tears when confronted with it in real life. I might share a story or two about that some other time.
Thanks again
Jason

Definitely.
And a travesty of film that took my nostalgia and roughed it up in a dark alley.

I'm surprised Mairkurion hasn't asked you to try to double that number. :)

Yeah I so wanted to go back in and post about the half truths that are in some of those pages. MT went out of her way not to even acknowledge anything that kept her off of her mission. Not to answer any wrongful thing said about her. She made an easy target in some ways.
[/threadjack]
Now back to our regularly scheduled programing.

I forgot to leave out: the Missus has a major prejudice against movies more than 10 years old and that together with her general avoidance of horror meant that, when she said afterwards it was a good show, it really had to be a good show.
Keith David looked like such a young'un. Same great voice, though.

I posted to that thread....:)
I am still trying to set up a good list of real horror movies for her to watch.
Of course I need a good list of fantasy films as well. That way I can make it a family thing and "force" my sons to watch too.

Keith David has a much more distinct and commanding voice than David Keith... but David got to say "Bodacious ta-tas" in a film, and that certainly counts as a win in my book.

I still have a few hours. :)
Also it gives you time to make a list for me. I am thinking of tracking down The sword and the Sorcerer. Maybe Sindbad.

Oo... forgot about those.
So with episode 41 of Atomic Array coming out in two days, along with 5 AA special editions...
And 27 episodes of RPG Countdown, along with 4 RPGC special editions...
And 7 episodes of Open Design Podcast...
And a Dark Whispers podcast in a pear tree...
That makes 85 shows in under two years. I'm pretty sure that's one of the signs of the apocalypse, but I'll have to fact check with Demi to be sure.

Hmm...seeing that list made me think that 2008 wasn't really that great of a year for gaming, in spite of a few bright spots I saw there.
Pathfinder products would have DEVOURED that top sellers list, but we can't get a sales source for them (we've tried) and so we only report what we can prove. We're getting new sources all the time, but Paizo doesn't sell through them.
Paizo sells WAY too well to not be on our lists. It's a crime of promotion neglect, I tells ya... A crime!
