I just finished assembling the first episode of Atomic Array, my new RPG podcast with Ed Healy. Our first guest was Richard Iorio, president of Rogue Games, and we discussed his Colonial Gothic line. Ideal for a July 4th launch, eh? John Baichtal was kind enough to mention the existence of our premiere episode on the Wired blog.
I would consider it a huge favor if you guys would check out our latest venture. Why? Because we made something fun (or we tried at least) and we really want to share with you, because if not you… who else is really going to listen to it? I’m curious how my soon-to-be-regular Rone Rant segment will go over. This first time out, I cover gamer elitism and the edition wars. 4E is not my preference, but I poke fun at anyone who snipes viciously from under cover of anonymity. Who am I kidding. I poke fun at everybody.
You can find our podcast at at atomicarray.com
We’re giving away two Colonial Gothic book sets - each containing the Colonial Gothic Rulebook and Colonial Gothic: Secrets.
We also have a contest with a $100 prize and you get to keep your clothes on.

Wow, by coincidence I just read the Colonial Gothic Rulebook a few days ago.
And, ordered Frontier Cthulhu from paizo to get some adventure ideas.
Great set up!

That means a lot, Adam. Wow. It was easy to get jazzed about the CG books. Somehow methinks I won't be asked to do a podcast for the Star Trek Conventioneers of America anytime soon.
I have an end music theme in mind but there wasn't enough time to lay it down so I just grabbed something from my bin of unused Rone songs laying around. They're two for one this week.
That reminds me of when Tim Hitchcock and I were jamming last year. He gave me one of his former band's CDs and said, "Here, have a coaster. Take two, I've got boxes of 'em."

BTW, guys... Ed and I also do Dark Whispers, the official Podcast of Sinister Adventures, Nic Logue's kickassery factory.
Heath, did you make it to the George Takei part yet? Have I gone too far?

George Washington burned my family farm cause we wouldnt support his bandit uprising...So he's a child raping fundmentalist bandit.

I made it there. LOL!!!

As you know, I was not happy with the edition change, but I never called for bodily harm on wizzy execs. I once thought there was still something we could do to be heard... to have some say in the change. Once I saw 4E was what it was, and wasn't going to alter its plans, I lost my passion. I'll defend the other editions if someone puts them down, but short of that the subject is just too tiring to stand up at the table and chuck mashed taters over.
People can cite what it was like during previous edition changes, but now there's heavily populated forums, and forums can all too easily spread rivalry and anger, confusion and misinformation. This fracture is worse than anything I ever saw before. I lost my hardcore D&D allegiance, but in a way it was creatively liberating because now I'm altogether happy to write for other systems and genres.
But the D mags... that scar will never heal. Dragon was one of the holy pearls of my youth.

As ever Jade, another fine fine podcast.
I look forward to hearing more, and to future Dark Whispers on the Sinister site.
You and Ed make a good duo - always very entertaining.
Keep us posted as to when you two do another one.
That is so very kind of you to say, Eyebite. Thank you.
Another Dark Whispers is in the early planning stages, and the next Atomic Array will be out in a couple of weeks.
Talking to the designers of fantastic RPGs is like throwing myself a party more than it is work.

He'll kick you in half, HE'LL KICK YOU IN HALF!

That George Washington video was so lateral and crazy. 6'20" tall with 30 penes? He threw a dagger past god in the clouds and doesn't save British children from drowning. I wonder what particular kind of drug that writer was using, or head wound he was suffering from when he wrote that. Inspired stuff.

No, not too far but the memory of that night is still too fresh and I can't believe you shared my personal affairs with your listeners without asking me first.

Any deadline on the logo contest?
I'll talk to Ed about it, but we were figuring we'd need to give artists a wide berth. We'll nail down a deadline.
If you're interested, I'm really looking forward to seeing what you have.
Blammo, the fiendish mushroom cloud, is really the only anchor. the logo has to work with him.
If anyone wants a bigger picture of Blammo, this can surely be arranged.

Oh, were you the guy with the cigarette in the armchair at the foot of the bed?
Also, yeah, a bigger blammo is going to be a must. I just sent an email to blammo requesting one. Cheers.

Will do! Thanks!
And yes, that was me... hunched over and looking down into an 8mm, sputtering directions past my cigarette, "Gorgeous, guys... really good. Tarren, look surprised. What is he about to do with that? Nice. Perfect. Are you sure you haven't done this before?"

Who's next, Chekov? Uhura? Wha?
The next show (episide 2, premiering on July 18th, 2008) will indeed cover spacepop. We're interviewing RPG veteran Darrin Drader about his new setting book Reign of Discordia. This is for everyone who wants to play a campaign styled after old school retro sci-fi, like 70's Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars, and Star Trek.
I'm getting nostalgic. Hey guys, remember Maximillian from The Black Hole? Good times. A guy I do contracting with sometimes calls me Maximillian when we're working together.
"Why do you call me that, John?"
"Because you're a big scary killer robot."
"Thanks, John."
"Take it as a compliment. I call everyone else, Frenchy."
