Ixius |

Ixius flinches as the viper bites him. He continues to attack the keche.
If Ixius can get in a full attack round de does so. If he has to move he moves into a flanking poisition if possible.
Claw attack (assuming flanking bonus) (1d20+5=6)
If he gets a full attack this round:
Second claw attack. (1d20+5=21), Damage (1d6+2=4), Sneak attack damage if appropriate (1d6=2)

Fippin |

Fippin didn't see those two, and apparently his hearing isn't working so well.
Fippin wrote:Fippin notes in his head that these creatures still haven't taken any overtly hostile actions against the party, and yet we are already trying to kill them.Tarren the Dungeon Master wrote:Apparently your definition and mine on hostile actions differ quite a bit. When a creature tears a crew member into bloody shreds and throw vipers at another party member, I call that hostile. ;-pThe three creatures at the front of the boat throw objects at Danner who begins to scream and twist about trying to pull the objects off of him. Then, all three pounce on Sperrago tearing him to shreds.
Chuol is caught alone behind the cabin. The two keches there throw vipers at him but the vipers do not manage to bite him this round. The apelike creatures do not attack him yet preferring to give the vipers a chance to do their job.

Fippin |

Round #3
Since Fippin probably can't see the action that well (given that the fighting in the cargo area is right underneath him, and the cabin is blocking his view to Chull and Keliwyn). He grabs his bow from Faruq and takes a running jump across to the roof of the main cabin. I'm not sure exactly how far the jump is, but I don't think it seemed more than 5-10'.
Jump- 1d20=18
That likely made it
Minor action- grab bow
Move action- jump gap to top of main cabin
standard action- unleash and arrow using true strike on the ketch fighting Darren in the cargo area
To hit (true strike)- 1d20+26=40
Damage-1d6+2=7

I've really gotta work on my mapping skills. The topdeck is the roof of the main cabin. Do you mean you are climbing to the roof of the pilothouse?

Baas |

Round two:
Baas rages and uses his swift foot ability (move 70) and moves to front of the boat. And places himself between any enemies and Sykala. If that is not possible, he flanks and attacks any enemies adjacent to her and if no enemies are next to her, he finds the closest enemy to her. Whatever the case, he appears suddenly and calmly and matter-of-factly whispers to his victim: "I am death" and introduces the victim's heads to his earth breaker
Raging, Overhand Chop (1d20 11=29) actually only 28, wrong modifier
Raging, Overhand Chop damage (2d6 11=17)
Round three:
Raging overhand chop
Round three: Raging, Overhand Chop (1d20 10=14, 2d6 11=17)
If either attack takes an enemy down and I can cleave another enemy...
Just-in case Cleave (1d20 10=18, 2d6 11=14)

Sykala |

Round #3
Tarren:
Round #1:Summon Natures Ally II (Hippogryph-shows up and attacks just as I start round #2)
Round #2:Equip shield and cast barkskin
Round #3:Summon Natures Ally II (Crocodile-shows up and attacks just as I start round #4-if it can attack the third kech not being attacked by the hippogryph or Baas it will otherwise where ever it makes sense)(hehe, how's that for messin with your mappin skills ;-D)
Sykala again chants a long prayer to Gozreh in a language none understand bringing into being a crocodile to fight for the group.
Augmented hippogryphs claws (1d20+6=12, 1d4+6=9, 1d20+6=15, 1d4+6=7)
Augmented hippogryphs bite (1d20+3=13, 1d8+4=10)
Hmmm, this crocodile attack shouldn't happen until they go again so don't apply it til then
Augmented Crocodile Bite (1d20+8=22, 1d8+8=14)
Augmented Crocodile Improved Grapple (1d20+8=16) +4 to this if they are small devil monkey things

Chuol |

Round 3:
Chuol ignores the throbbing pain caused by the creatures attack, instead trying to finish what he started by thrusting at the creature again with all his might.
Chuol power attacks the creature, but if he can move into flanking position with a 5-foot step, he does so.
Attack Roll: 1d20+5 (+7 if flanking)
Damage Roll: 1d8+7
If he manages to cleave through he will strike at another kech if they are in range, or one of the vipers if they are not.
Attack & Damage Rolls same as above.
Sorry, can't roll until this evening!

Keliwyn of Korvosa |

Fippin |

I'm flying to England, and I won't be back for 2 weeks. I'll try to get to internet cafes on a regular basis to check up on my e-mail and this pbp, but I'm fine with someone running my character in the meantime (perhaps Tarren, since he knows best what's going on in the game).
For the Fippin's next actions he will cast spiritual weapon. He will then try to stay out of melee, by remaining on top of the cabin and firing his bow down at any opponents he can see, while his spiritual weapon attacks. If he sees a companion go down, he will hop down and try to stabilize his friend.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

Ixius feels weakened by the snake's bite. 5 points of constitution damage and another DC 10 fort. save or 3 more constitution damage. He does manage to circle around and claw at one of the pygmy keches.
Fippin leaps onto the roof of the pilothouse and shoots an arrow with incredibly precise aim into one of the keches fighting Danner.
Baas appears from nowhere and begins knocking heads, finishing off one of the wounded wicked beasts but misses with the second attack.
The hippogriff summoned by Sykala is unable to get beak or claw into any of the keches but the alligator snaps its maw onto one of them almost cutting it in half. The pygmy kech manages to wriggle free but leaves the croc enough flesh to chew on.
Keliwyn is also weakened by the bite of the black mamba. 4 constitution damage and another DC 10 fort. save or 4 more constitution damage.
The two remaining Keches at the front continue in their concerted attack on Danner. Bringing him down shrieking and bleeding to the ground where he is stung by the black mambas. Within seconds, the shrieking stops.
The two keches at the back tear into Chuol with amazing ferocity. [ooc]17 points of damage. You better finish them off.
The two black mambas at the back bite at Keliwyn but do not hit.
ROUND FOUR
Baas -- between the bow and the covered cargo area
Fippin -- on top of the topdeck
Sykala -- on the bow
croc -- covered cargo area
hippogriff -- covered cargo area
Keliwn -- Behind Cabin
Ixius -- Covered cargo area
Chuol -- Behind Cabin
Keches and Black Mambas

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

Tarren the Dungeon Master wrote:How'd you come up with the +8? I'm getting higher numbers but still no grapple.Ummmm, it's +6 for grapple from the 3.5 Monster Manual and then gets another +2 because it's augmented (+4 strength). Is that right?
We're using PRPG rules, right? BAB+STR+SIZE+IMPR.GRAB = 2(BAB) + 6 (STR) + 0 (SIZE) + 2 (IMPR.GRAB) = 10 ... but I'm not sure because I'm trying to convert MM into PRPG.

Sykala |

I screwed up on the Hippogryphs claw to hit rolls too. They shoulda been +2 better than they were. Whoops, will correct that going forward. I am sure your right with the grapple thing. I was just going from the old info. I haven't tried converting creatures as of yet. (went back and checked and yeah it gets another +2 because of the changes to Improved Grapple (so total +10). So your spot on there.)
Round #4
Hippogryphs claw attacks (1d20+8=23, 1d4+6=8, 1d20+8=17, 1d4+6=7)
Hippogryphs bite attack (1d20+3=11, 1d8+4=6)
Crocodile has already gone.. For round 4.
Lightning Arc touch attack. (1d20+5=23, 1d6+2=7)
Sykala's eyes blaze with anger and a inner blue glow as she releases lightning once again at the nearest monkey creature. She then strides through what is left of the melee 30' toward the back of the boat where she knows two other creatures landed out of sight.

Ixius |

Fort save for secondary poison effect (1d20=15)
Ixius feels severely weakened by the viper's venom. He retreats 30' to the gangway between the cargo area and the back to get away from the vipers, then casts mage armor on himself. At this point he perhaps hears screams and the sound of combat from behind the cabin.
Perception, in case (1d20+5=6)
I sure roll alot of 1's

Ixius |

FYI: The secondary damage from the poison will probably be a moot point because Sykala will end up treating all poisoned people and the secondary damage doesn't end up hitting you until 10 rounds have passed. I think she automatically makes it with her +11.
So we use Sykala's Heal check instead of our Fort saves to avoid the secondary effect? For Ixius it's moot since I think he made the Fort save anyway. (I am still learning the 3.P Alpha 3 rules)

Sykala |

I am going on vacation starting this evening (going to try and post one more round if we get to that point before I leave hopefully). I won't have internet access as I'll be out camping. I will be back Saturday (so I should be able to post again that evening). If any of you feel up to running Sykala in the meantime I am ok with it. She only has Fairy Fire left for a spell so mostly she will run around zapping things and telling her Hippogryph (around for 1 more round) and Croc (around for 3 more rounds) to eat them. She will treat everyones poison and administer to the ones who lost Con so they recover more quickly. She will offer to have the "dead join Gozreh", which either involves finding a group of piranha and uncermoniusly dumping the bodies in or a huge insect mound that she'll put the bodies on to be stripped of flesh.

Chuol |

Did I hit in Round 3?
Round 4:
Starting to feel the pain of these creatures slashing claws, Chuol takes one last strike in an attempt to finish off one of the creatures attacking him. He lets out a yell as he does so. Then he steps back and picks a potion out from his pouch.
Attack roll: 1d20+8 (+10 if flanking), Damage Roll: 1d8+4. 5-ft step back. Draw cure moderate wounds potion as move action.

I'm confused by your roll for round 3. What AC did you hit? In fact, I'm confused by this roll too. You aren't posting the url.

Sorry, I can't roll at work, I should have noted it again. I assumed you had rolled for me, heh. I shall do my rolling as soon as I get home!

Keliwyn of Korvosa |

Keliwyn continues to press the attack against the second of the two creatures. His rapier manages to score a hit, and although the sudden wave of weakness keeps it from biting deep, it cuts a vital artery. Within moments, it's clear that the wound will continue to bleed.
1d20=13+5+2=20 to hit, 1d6=1+1= 2 damage,
bleeding attack rogue talent = 2 hp of damage every round
1d20=5+5+2=12 to hit, 1d4=4+1=5 damage

Chuol |

Here are Chuol's rolls:
Round 3:
Attack & Damage Rolls: (1d20+5=13, 1d8+7=15)
That's a 15 attack roll if Chuol is flanking.
Round 4:
Attack & Damage Rolls: (1d20+8=19, 1d8+4=12)
That's a 21 attack roll if Chuol is flanking.
If Cleave is possible at all, here is my Cleave roll:
Cleave Attack & Damage Roll: (1d20+8=9, 1d8+4=12)
Sorry about the confusion earlier, I'll try to take care of my rolls every night from now on.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

ROUND THREE WRAP UP.
Chuol barely misses skewering the kech again with his trident.
Chuol is flanking but still misses.
ROUND FOUR EVENTS
FRONT OF THE BOAT
Sykala's hippogriff continues to tear apart one of the keches. It no longer seems to have any interest in attacking but just stands up straight and whimpers. Sykala then hits it with an arc of lightning, finishing it off.
Ixius retreats from the vipers.
Baas still gets an attack this round.
The one kech remaining on the front of the boat attempts to escape.
One of the black mambas bites Baas striking with great speed augmented by training at the hands of the vicious kech. DC 10 poison or take 1 constitution damage.
Pretty much everyone in melee gets an AofO here so ... good luck with that Mr. Kech.
BACK OF THE BOAT
Fippin sees that Ixius and Keliwyn have their hands full and moves closer to them, calling upon Desna to allow him the use of a starknife. A starknife of pure energy appears whistling in the air and spins towards one of the keches. It misses the kech this round but spins up and around descending for another strike.
Keliwyn wounds one of the already injured keches. Chuol stabs the other one hurting it bad.
Both Keliwyn and Chuol are scratched by keches. 2 hp lost each. The black mambas also try to strike but get stepped on by their own keepers and miss.

Chuol |

Round 5:
After taking a step back, Chuol swallows his potion with one quick gulp, throwing the vial to the ground and holding his trident up to the kech he's been stabbing all the time.
"Little ting, if you want to leave dis boat alive, I suggest you jump off, now."
[ooc]5-ft step back, drink potion, heals (2d8+3=11).

Keliwyn of Korvosa |

Keliwyn continues his fight alongside Choul. Although the beasts scratch causes his dagger to miss its mark, his rapier bites deep.
1d20=2+5+2=9 to hit, 1d4=3+1 damage,
1d20=18+5+2=25 to hit, 1d6=5+1=6 damage
1d20=14+5+2=21 confirm crit, 1d6=1+1=2 damage

Baas |

Baas arm rears back, ready to make the ketch a little less three-dimensional, when his leg is pierced by sharp fangs.
Fort save vs poison (1d20 9=18)
He gazes with disdain at the serpent and crushes it.
Round four: Raging, Overhand Chop (AoO) (1d20 10=21, 2d6 11=13)
Noticing the Kech attempting to leave, Bass catches him on the backswing Round four attack. Same ole' bash (1d20 10=18, 2d6 11=19)
Round five:
Attacking the viper if it is still alive, if not the escaping kech if he is alive and present, if not, the closest enemy otherwise (I will use another swift foot, if needed to reach them).
Round five raging, running, overhand can of whoop@$$ (1d20 10=23, 2d6 11=19)

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

As Chuol drinks his potion, Faruq enters the fray. He leaps down with his falchion and slices into one of the keches harassing Chuol, killing it. Unfortunately, he stepped on the tails of two black mambas when he leapt. Faruq takes two bites but shrugs off the effects. "Snakes? No one mentioned any snakes. Ouch! That will leave a scar!" he says, genuinely concerned about scar tissue on his calves.
Ixius appears from the gangway and casts a spell. The remaining kech seems confused.
Keliwyn finishes it off with his rapier.
Baas destroys the kech at the front that was trying to escape and then hammers the black mamba on the boat deck so hard that Hurg starts yelling obscenities from the engine room.
Sykala scans the trees for any more of this tribe. Seeing a few she shouts to Fippin who fires some warning arrows at some keches who were considering attacking the boat.
There are 2 snakes at the back and 1 at the front. With their trainers gone, they are going to try to hide in the cargo. One AofO for everyone before the slip away.

Baas |

Baas watches the serpent slither towards escape and then squashes it.
AoO on the viper. (1d20 10=20, 2d6 11=19)
He turns to Sykala. "Anaka...what else do you" he stops shakes his head and starts over "Sykala, what else do you see? Are you harmed?"

Chuol |

Can Chuol attempt to grapple as his AoO? If so the Grapple check is: Grapple attack: (1d20+7=19). If successful, he will attempt to throw the snake overboard.
If Chuol can't Grapple as an AoO, he will strike at the nearest snake with his trident: AoO: (1d20+8=24).

You can attempt to grapple, but the snake gets an AoO, doesn't it? ... which it blows badly.
Chuol deftly picks the snake up just behind its head and flips it off of the boat before it can bite him.

Chuol |

That's fair!
Chuol looks around the boat for any other snakes looking to be thrown overboard.

Ixius |

Keliwyn of Korvosa |

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

With Keliwyn's attack, the last snake is dispatched. The boat is a mess. The mosquito netting is torn. Speraggo and Danner are dead. The carcasses of several keches litter the deck. Several of you have been poisoned and are having trouble keeping from vomitting. Cargo is knocked over.
Hurg, the hairless dwarf, comes storming out of the cabin having climbed up from the engine room. He storms right around the cabin waving his finger at each and every crew member and shouting "No respect! I tells ya. A dwarf's gotta work down there but d'ya care? No! No, I tells ya. You and yer partyin' and carryin' on dancin' around right above me poor 'airless 'ead. It's like yer drummin' on the inside of me skull. BOOMBOOMBOOM. It's all I can 'ear. Now! Sit the 'ell down and stop stompin' around just above me 'ead."
He heads back down into the cabin giving no sign that he noticed the six bodies on the deck (two crew members and four keches).

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

Sykala immediately comes over and starts checking on those who have been poisioned, setting up a make shift infirmary in the cabin.
Fippin works at getting the mosquito netting back in place.
Faruq, calls Esteban, and points out that two crew members are dead.
"What are we going to do with them?"
"Throw them off the side. The jungle will eat them," says Esteban, "That's natures way, isn't it Sykala?"

Sykala |

The hippogryph and crocodile eat what they can of the keches before they leave.
He turns to Sykala. "Anaka...what else do you" he stops shakes his head and starts over "Sykala, what else do you see? Are you harmed?"
"Not hurt, see more tree monkeys but easy scare now" as Fippin shoots into the trees to scatter them. Sykala looks up at Baal, "Not know word A-n-a-k-a, what is?". Before he is able to answer she takes the bone dagger out, cuts open the snake bite, and sucks out the poison. Which she then binds with moss and leaves.
"What are we going to do with them?"
"Throw them off the side. The jungle will eat them," says Esteban, "That's natures way, isn't it Sykala?"
Sykala nods. "Meat now. We all eventually eaten. Strong live, weak eaten. Gozreh's way." She'll toss them over board as soon as a suitable group of crocodiles or piranha is found. She does the same with the kech and snakes.
She then "tends" to the other snakebite victims eliciting curses and gasps from the victims......errrr patients. She uses Detect Poison to make sure the wounds are clean after she is done.
She will give long term care to those that want it through the night so they gain the 8 hours under care effect.

Chuol |

Chuol will raise his spear in the air and whisper a few short words of thanks in Mwangi in order to properly send off the deceased crewmembers.
Afterwards, he will look to see how injured his companions are and help Fippin with any healing required.
First however, he takes a moment to heal himself, closing his eyes and concentrating as his wounds slowly disappear.
Chuol uses 16 poins of Lay on Hands on himself, bringing himself back to full hp, and on top of that, he has 4hp of lay on hands and 4d6hp using positive energy to heal anyone on the ship near him.

Baas |

"Not hurt, see more tree monkeys but easy scare now" as Fippin shoots into the trees to scatter them. Sykala looks up at Baal, "Not know word A-n-a-k-a, what is?". Before he is able to answer she takes the bone dagger out, cuts open the snake bite, and sucks out the poison. Which she then binds with moss and leaves.
Baas says nothing and goes to check on the other travelers.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

Several days go by.
The journey progresses.
You pass the point where the Lesser Vanji adds its waters to the Vanji and, once past, the current is less powerful and The River Queen makes better time.
Having to fill in for the two dead crew members has meant a bit more work for all of you but it is not a hard life for the money you're getting.

Sykala |

Baas says nothing and goes to check on the other travelers.
Sensing some internal turmoil she let's the question go, watching as he distracts himself with more "important" things.
For the rest of the day, he tends to stay in one spot, sitting near the bow, with his bow in hand.
Since he is spending so much time on the bow Sykala asks Keliwyn to speak in Elven. She points to different things as they pass on the river and says their names in Sylvan and then waits for the name in Elven. During this time he notices that she repeatedly glances at him and it becomes apparent that she is curious about his ears. Finally she blurts out, "You fey? Some fey? You speak close fey. You come from forest."
She visits Ixius every day to talk about the jungle and Gozreh (and cast Endure Elements). Touching his arm where the bite is, "Jungle change us. We end this journey different.....stronger. Old selves not recognize us when done."
"Esteban ... slow!" yells Faruq. In the waters ahead of you you see a large white form floating slowly towards you from up river. As it gets closer, you see that it is a flat bottomed boat. You can see no passengers.
Sykala looks toward the boat with curiosity but also scans the trees and water for danger in case it's bait. She will ready a gust of wind again to move the boat away from the barge if it becomes a threat.

Ixius |

Ixius is glad for Sykala's company while he is recovering from the snake bite, listening carefully to her words about Gozreh and the jungle, even though he cannot understand much of it.
"Jungle change us. We end this journey different.....stronger. Old selves not recognize us when done."
"I am already completely changed from the self I once was. I have been reborn I think."
When the other boat approaches, Ixius grabs his bow and goes out on the fore-deck.
Is Ixius at full Con by now? Also, has a week's worth of bow-crafting elapsed?

Sykala |

Is Ixius at full Con by now?
Didn't realize you lost that much con. After 24 hours of long term care you regain 4 Con points. So with just another day of normal rest you regain the last point. Yes, you would be back to full constitution as Tarren said several days have passed. I imagine that Fippin will come in and check on Ixius and the others too. (curious as to what he thinks of Sykala's "primitive" methods)
Lol, I suppose I should actually ROLL for the check. Long term care healing check (1d20+11=30) Oh, wow. Yep, that should do it.
