Fippin |

Fippin creeps back out of the pilot house. He has his wand sheathed and his bow ready. He attempts to use stealth. He moves back towards the front, but tries to keep low and assess the situation.
1d20 10=15 There might also be some bonuses from darkness and the cover of the ship's railing etc...

Baas. |

Baas will jump down to grab Sykala and pull her out of the water before it's too late. "No, what are you doing?!"
Invisible Castle was down when I tried to roll, so I used my own d20. Rolled a 7, add 9 for CMB for a total of 16. Hopefully enough!
After grabbing Sykala, Baas attempts to set her back on land, and put himself between the creature and her.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

Baas manages to restrain Sykala from joining the ooze in the swamp but she is still intent on doing so.
You will have to maintain your grapple in the next round and she will be applying her CMB as you are now preventing her from doing what she wants. You get to add the +5 circumstance bonus for maintaining a grapple though.
The will-o'-wisp sends a second nasty shock into Esteban. Esteban, barely conscious and struggling to keep from throwing up, stabs at the ball of light with his rapier with great precision.
Faruq screams when he sees what is happening to Esteban and begins to run in his direction. He leaps off the boat and stumbles in the soft ground.
New round.

Sykala |

Another arrow at wisp (1d20+7=12) from Keliwyn, nope
Sykala struggles against Baas. "You let go! It get away!"

Fippin |

Ixius |

Keliwyn sees Ixius go to help Baas and says, "Ixius! I'll help Baas since I can't hit that thing! You seem able to hit that damn ball. Can you keep doing it?"
"Get everybody on the boat!"
Ixius uses his standard action to cast another true strike
Can Baas attempt to (gently) throw/move Sykala back onto the shore? If so, how should it be done?
After another successful grapple check, you can move yourself and your target up to one-half your speed.

Baas. |

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

The Will-o'-wisp disappears. Its crackling glow simply ceases to be visible.
As Sykala slips from Baas' hand and into the water, the bones, dead plants, and rotting carcases in the dark ooze rise up to embrace her. Fippin feels the cold chill of the restless dead waft off of it.
Uh oh. 26 points of damage. ... The good news is, you guys should be ready to level up if you survive.

Sykala |

Uhhhhhh......Did I understand you correctly, that I take 26 points of damage?!?! If thats the case than I am down and out at -3. Not that it matters at the moment but I assume that the mezmorizing effect is broken at this point
Keliwyn's eyes go wide as it envelopes Sykala and crushes? her as she smiles the whole time, "By the gods! Fippin get down here with some healing! Ixius! Forget what I said and help me get her out! Baas!"

Ixius |

Ixius shoots the thing twice.

Yes, 26 hp down. Nasty. ... Okay, now I need Tug-of-war as a combat maneuver, heheh. ... Opposed strength checks with the ooze, I guess. ... I'll wait until everyone has posted an action before trying to resolve this.

Baas. |

For Keliwyn:
Strength Check (1d20+1=17)
Has anything we have done had any effect on this thing? So far the descriptions haven't been real clear on that. Is it on it's last legs or barely hurt? I mean I could see Baas just hauling off and squishing it if it's barely holding itself together at this point.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

Baas has acted, but you're right the descriptions have been unclear. The creature is kind of formless though. Baas' previous hits definitely did some damage but the arrow got very little reaction. The lightning from Sykala got very little reaction. About the kind of reaction you'd get from a puddle of ooze.
Fippin sees the congealed mass of bone, rotting flesh, and dead plants embracing Sykala. He sees Sykala writhe in agony. He senses the coldness, the emptiness, the pure absence of life in this creature.

Fippin |

Well I'm feeling a little useless with basically no spells and bow that can't hurt anything
Fippin leaps from the bow of the boat and lands in the water near Sykala (hopefully- it's probable that he would just sink up to his head in muck). If possible he casts one of his last first level spells and makes it a cure light wounds.
She would get 7 hp back (sorry you'll likely still be dead next round, but that's about the most I can do to help you).

P.H. Dungeon |

The only other thing I was considering was trying to turn the thing or use positive energy against it, since I figure it might be undead
I guess a turn attempt would make more sense, but if it doesn't work then Sykala's basically done. Okay we'll try that instead.
Fippin bravely presents his holy symbol of Desna, and attempts to turn the creature and drive it off.
That might be enough to do it.

Sykala |

LOL, That's wonderful! but...it also heals us all 2d6 and if it's undead it does the same amount of damage to it. So in effect you do what you were originally going to jump in the water to do but on top of that you heal anyone damaged within 30' AND damage the critter (well hopefully - that's what I gather from Tarren's description too).

P.H. Dungeon |

I didn't see that in the discussion thread, and I hadn't really looked at how turning worked with the pathfinder rules. I'm still thinking 3E

Yeah, I had a feeling but I didn't want to go into the whole way it works if you were already aware of it and I just missed it. But no real worries, as we are all still learning the Pathfinder rules, which of course was one of the points of this game (to playtest).

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

Yes, this thread should actually read PtBP because it is a playtest.
Fippin:
Roll 2d6 please. I don't actually have to wait as you will kill it no matter what, but we should know how much you heal Sykala by.
Channel Positive Energy
When you channel positive energy, you unleash a wave
of positive energy in a 30-foot burst. All undead in this
radius take 1d6 points of positive energy damage plus
1d6 points of positive energy damage for every two cleric
levels you have attained beyond 1st (1d6 at 1st level, 2d6
at 3rd, 3d6 at 5th, and so on) and must f lee from you (as
if frightened) for 1d4 rounds + your Charisma modifier.
Undead in this radius are allowed a Will save that negates
the frightened condition and results in half damage. The
DC of this save is equal to 10 + 1/2 your cleric level + your
Charisma modifier. Undead who take damage greater
than their hit points crumble to dust and are destroyed
by the power of your deity. If a f leeing undead is subject
to channeled negative energy, it is not controlled, but
does receive a new saving throw to dispel the f lee effect.
Living creatures within the area are healed a like
amount by this wave of positive energy. You can choose
whether or not to include yourself in this effect. Hit
points gained above a living creature’s total are lost.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

Fippin appears on the bow of the boat and holds high his blue, starclad butterfly-shaped holy symbol of Desna. Despite the darkness, a wave of bluish energy twinkling with stars washes from the symbol over the party. With it comes a feeling of safety, of joy, and relief.
The dead matter of the swamp slides off of Sykala and becomes nothing but flotsam.

Sykala |

Sykala groggily opens her eyes to find Keliwyn and Baas holding her and starts to glance around hopefully, "Where....it.....go? You...catch? Want..for..Fippin." Then she tries to move and gasps in pain, "Unnnh...What....happen? Hurt..." With another pain filled groan she tries to get up but fails, "...much...lots"
Thought she was a goner for sure. My time had come.

Sykala |

Keliwyn lets her go once Baas fully has her in his arms. As Baas carries her form back on the boat she pulls a necklace of teeth out of a pouch and puts it around his neck, "I make for you. Is teeth crocodile." Putting her hand to his chest over his heart, "You strong spirit. Crocodile inside now."
The energies reviving her prone form fully, she looks up at Fippin and grasps his hand, "I try. It get away. It like you say is Desna. Was beautiful. Want you see." Her eyes get a bit teary and she closes them, "....rest...now...." and her breathing begins to slow.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

Esteban is unable to stand on his own, so Faruq has to help him to the boat. He's stumbling and unable to grab the railings accurately. If anyone wanted to take him out, now would be the time. Even in this condition though, he did score a nasty hit on the Will-o'-wisp with his rapier.
"Ooooh, Faruq, don't let it near me ... I'm almost dead ...," Esteban jokes. "Those sadistic gasballs always go after the ones begging for help."
Faruq helps him up to the pilothouse. "Lie down, Estie. We'll rest here. Hurg will show the others where to find the arcophage."

Fippin |

Fippin wanders over to Eteban.
"The cost of this wand came out of the pockets of my fellows because you and your employers were too cheap to bother trying to procure any healing magic for this journey. It's power is already dwindling. I will spare some of its magic on you. The rest is for my companions."
He taps Esteban twice and then turns and walks away.

Faruq glares at Fippin and starts to say something but Esteban stumbles and Faruq let's it slide.

As she puts the necklace around his neck, Baas smiles. It's the first time you've seen him do so in quite some time (if at all). Speaking softly: "Thank you, Sykala. I failed you today. And this is not the first time. If not for Fippin, I may have lost as I've lost..."
With that, his eyes seem to unfocus, and he walks to the stern of the boat, leaning over one side to watch the rivers waters.
