SO? Absolutely cool giant monster at the very end simply walking by ignoring the "Little People", THe Beblith stalking the Carpark, the spiders, the skeeters, the things eatin the skeeters, the tentacle thing...dumbasses kill themselves before the marines show up.

Loved the monsters, hated the human characters.

The Exchange

This film was extremely well done. I think the spiders disturbed me the worst. They were truly disgusting and absolutely insidious. I believe the film succeeded on a number of levels. If anything, it was one hell of a thrill ride. The lack of reason as to why all this was happening I particularly appreciated. Interesting how killing the dimensional creatures made the mist lift.

Cheers,

I really liked this movie a lot. I thought everything was done well and particularly liked the whole "preacher lady" subplot.

One of the few movies of it's type where the movie winds up being, as far as a horror story, better than the story it was taken from. I think it has to be the best and most faithful King adaptation yet.

I might buy it on DVD, because there is a black-and-white version of the film on the second disc. I think it would work awesomely well in B&W.

Damn it! I knew I should have bought the Special Edition. I'm going to walk over to the PX right now, in fact.

I agree. Keep in mind, the director (who also wrote the screenplay, including the ending that King never finished) is Frank Darabont, the same guy who directed Stephen King's The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption. Both of these were excellent films (Shawshank is one of my all-time favorites), so I'm not the least bit surprised by how good the film was.

On the DVD I watched, there was an interview where Darabont and King sit down and discuss their careers, and King compliments Darabont by saying the ending to the movie is as good, if not better, than anything he could have thought of himself!! Talk about high praise.
