Maps - Please

Curse of the Crimson Throne

I have noted that the number and complexity (quality) of adventure site maps within the Crimson Throne adventure path have been decreasing. This continues a trend from the later Runelords.

All this harkens back to a discussion that was had in relation to Dungeon Magazine and the Maps of Mystery series in that magazine. Long story short - maps are good.

Please include more and more complex adventure site maps in future adventure paths. Paizo has done some outstanding cartography and, for me, it forms part of the value proposition Paizo offers and, in part, it is why I purchase the adventure paths. So. Maps, please.

I think the maps are directly proportionate to the number of locations you visit in the course of the adventure. yes, PF10 had less maps... but it is also a very open ended adventure, where many of the encounters can happen anywhere.whenever an encounter has to happen somewhere, it is mapped

Maps are good. If they don't fit into the supplement then as a web enhancement please!

The number of maps a particular adventure has varies wildly, and is often influenced by the author's preference for maps. Some of our authors don't do many maps for their adventures at all (often, as in the case of the Shoanti camp in Pathfinder 10, I generate map turnovers myself to fill in gaps).

Those looking for complex maps should be happy with Pathfinder 11 and 12, which present two very different and very large castles...

Yes, I am now aware. I went through PF11 and nearly had a cow over how I'm supposed to make battlemaps out of those wonderfully convolouted halls for the combats! I may take a cue from Mr. Logue and run this castle without minis...both as an experiment in horror and as a kindness to my poor color printer.

i.e. I enjoy both kinds of maps. Simpler maps are easier to make my battlemats for but so far there is NO complaining of the quality of Pathfinder maps at all.

One of the cool things about having huge castles as key locations in 11 and 12 is the different way they serve as adventure sites. Scarwall is very much an old-school explore the dungeon type castle, while...

Spoiler:

...Castle Korvosa is a known quantity. The PCs have allies who know the castle inside and out, and can go into there with a full map of the site. This is more of a "reverse siege" than a dungeon crawl, in other words. It's pretty cool!

As to the spoiler - ROCK! That sounds awesome.
