With Death Magic doing damage rather than just killing how do those spells interact with spells/abilities that didn't work against save or die but did work against damage dealt?
Example: There's a spell (who's name i foget) that immediately casts a heal upon you when brought to 0 hp's or below (maybe just below) but it doesn't work if you're dropped by instant death (i.e. 3.4 finger of death).
But now, since spells like finger of death do damage does that mean that the aformentioned spell would trigger? How about other affects that don't work against death magic but do against damage?
What I propose is if someone is brought to negatives (-1 and lower) by a death magic spell (finger of deat, slay living, wail of the banshee etc...) they are dead just as if they had failed their save against the 3.5 version. It would work similarily to the death touch special ability, except that it still deals damage even if it doesn't drop the character.
Thoughts?

Close Wounds is the name of that spell, and I really like it. My favorite spell for Skjaldbakka, cleric of Fharlaghn.
Actually I was thinking of Fortune's Fate (I think that's it). You cast it and during it's duration if you get dropped by damage you get healed.
But Close Wounds is another good example.
So how does Death Magic work with these?

If Death Magic is the thing that kills you, then you're treated as being slain by a death effect, irregardless of whether or not you were weakened by other effects first. So, no raise dead for you then. If the death effect doesn't kill you, then damage is just damage.
