The Hill Giants and Earth Titan and Fire Gians and Fire Titans are fantastic paintings.
Im still anti 4th edition but these are fantastic.
This may be the first time in history a female fire giant was portrayed.
I like that the giant's appearances were untouched from 3rd edition..and the new bigger Titan versions are a neat idea.
I wonder if the regular old CR20 Titan is gone now.

"Hahahahahahahaha!"--Talam Shalief adventure and traveler on encountering the Stringe.
The Stirge
Stirges are bloodsucking, batlike horrors that lurk in caves and ruins.
Sorry but this sucks, no puns intended. The new stringe looks like a cross between either Pinocchio or Gonzo, and the Bat-Gremlin from Gremlins 2.

that I like alot

...yikes. That's got to be the most ill-concieved monster redesign I've seen in 4E yet. If it only had the two wings I might have been more receptive, but the four wings just makes it look ridiculous. Seriously, how the hell does that thing fly!?!
Antioch has it on the money: the insect look was better.

Antioch |

I just always envisioned them as really big, parasitic insects. Wayne Reynolds did a good one in Savage Species as part of whatever template mashes two creatures together. I dont remember what its called, but it had a stirge stuck to a bugbear.
For some reason an expressionless bug sucking my blood seems freakier than an angry looking goblin-bat. :-P

Reminds me of Watto.
It must be the hunched look and that tooth. That doesn't look like a proboscis anymore, just a big pointy nose.

Not quite ;)
There were some of the more interesting villains in the book too, I felt.

So the self-mutilating crazies are now just body piercing lifestylers?
Or are nose and brow rings evil in 4E now? I'm confused.

The picture doesn't say bleak, dark, evil or sinister to me. It just says moody.

I like them. I very much like the Raven Queen as an aloof and mysterious death diety of unknown motivations, neither reliably good nor reliably evil. I like that a servant of the Raven queen could create an undead horde to exhault the power of death, while another might destroy that same undead horde to preserve death's sanctity.
I like the Shadowfell, I like that the Raven Queen lives there instead of the Astral Sea, and I like that she has a subrace of blessed/damned humans who she brought to the Shadowfell to serve her. I like the idea of the Shadow power source, and I like the idea of a monster/PC race infused with its energy.
I like purple and blue and black - so while I am in general not a fan of excessive tatoos or piercings, I still like the look of Shadar-Kai in general. I like their characterization, society, and motivations in This Article

I think, subconsciously, thats why I didnt like the face.

They make me think of pale reapers from Firefly.
I could see that with the old Shadar-Kai, but these guys don't come across nearly as crazy or self-destructive. Of course Paizo's cranking those traits up to 11 in their Ecology Of entry may be coloring my memories of them.
These new Shadar-Kai look cool and all, but they're a very different animal from the originals.

I played a 4th Edition Demo when they had the Delegate Program at my FLGS.
I played an adventure called Escape from Sembia. In it the party was attacked by skeletons.
One of them was a flaming skeleton that threw a ball of fire every round. If you were hit you would catch fire.
Another was a reddish skeleton with weapons instead of hands with a blue fire in it's chest. It was called a Boneshard Skeleton. If it is damaged down to bloodied status it gave off a burst of negative energy that harms everyone around it (very much like an evil cleric channelling negative energy in the new Pathfinder rules).
It also does it again once its destroyed.

The Shadar-Kai were a lot edgier in the Worlds and Monsters preview. The story at that time is that they were servants of the Raven Queen, and though alive, live in the Shadowfell. In order to not succumb to the land of death and become shades themselves, they have to inflict constant pain on themselves, the pain keeping them vital. If they lose focus, they become wandering spirits, trapped in the Shadowfell forever.
I still like the preview. Somehow the image doesn't really hang together--seems almost like a series of figure sketches on the same background, but I think the basic point is pretty ok.

Possibly. But that's not what I see.
I see one Soldier roled Skeleton (the one in armor on the left). Another Skirmisher type (the guy with blades for hands). The guy throwing the ball of fire is the Artillery type, while the one falling apart is likely the poor Skeleton Minion. I think we're just looking at some differently roled Skeletons.
That all said, elemental Skeletons sounds kinda interesting. Fire is easy of course, but what would an Earth or Water Skeleton be like? For that matter, what would an Air Skeleton be like?
Cheers! :)

All so the images in the W&M and the online articles were much better.

The skeleton picture is great! I really like this one.
I'm just a little confused about the contents. Are any of these just a regular animated skeleton? The one on the left looks more like a 2E skeleton warrior, the next one looks like a Mohrg, the one up the back reminds me of the 2E giant skeleton (obviously this one isn't the right size) and the last one... I don't know what the hell that is!

Antioch |

They are probably Skeleton Warrior (soldier), Boneshard Skeleton (brute), Flaming Skeleton (artillery), and Decrepit Skeleton (minions).
Skeleton Warriors and Decrepit Skeletons are in Keep on the Shadowfell, Boneshard Skeletons are a mini from Dungeons of Dread (and one of the leaked stat blocks), and I'd heard there was a Flaming Skeleton of sorts somewhere (one I think is in Against the Giants DDM expansion).

So I'm thinking of a three faced figure, each face looking similar. The head rotates to display the face that most adequately represents the feelings of the being. Anyone know which mythological/literary character this picture is reminding me of?
Cheers! :)
From Masters of the Universe! Man-E-Faces! I had the action figure.

There is a multi faced figure from Hindu religion I think, but I can't remember which one it is.

Wow... Those look almost EXACTLY like the Bonelords from The Elder Scrolls series.
