RotRL - Starting Characters

Rise of the Runelords

Where does it detail the recommended point buy and number of players the module is designed for and other recommended starting conditions? I would expect to find this kind of information within the first 10 pages but I found no numbers.

Thanks,

I do not recall if it is written in the book, but the adventure path is designed for 4 PCs. As far as starting stats, gear, etc I believe that is up to you. I let my guys use the RotRL players guide for starting stats and started them off with 32 point buy or roll 4d6 drop lowest (their choice). Right now we have 6 PCs, one dead and will be back in next session, which required me to modify the encounters a bit. Mostly stacking more NPCs and adding extra levels to them.

3.5 presumes four players. I would expect an adventure to mention it only if it deviates from this standard. Your players point but is generally a group decision or the preview of the DM. This is a decision that should be made for each individual group depending on things like experience level and how tough they like their games. 25 is presumed though James Jacobs has stated he personally likes a 32 point buy.

Have you seen the Free ROTRL Players Guide? That might help with some of the other starting conditions. Not point buy or player numbers AFAIK. Thats up to you and your group.

Just to add, the presumed number of PCs and level can be found at the bottom of the credits page in each Pathfinder.
