So the group is nearly done with the "clear out Vanderboren Manor to save Lavinia (and Kora...I love that little halfling!)" section of the Bullywug Gambit and they're in pretty bad shape. I was thinking that it'd be kinda fun to let them do some "fun" stuff while the Wormfall Festival winds down.
Any ideas?

Sigh more stuff I wish I thought of back then.
Swimming race/boat race.
Have a competition of strength of magic and play up how the current record is held by someone who's gone to a place called "farshore"
Maybe a Scavenger Hunter in which all the clues are riddles if your group loves puzzles.

A lot of the short articles in the back of each Dungeon have what might apply (campaign workbook?). There were a handful of dice games in this issue (I think it was this one).
Also you could set up random DMG traps or encounters with subdual damage as the crunch and 'step right up test your skills at the wac-a-worm' as the fluff.

Avner, being an ass as usual.
We had the Meravanchis throw a debauched party in honor of the Heroes of Sasserine. Avner is an ass, sure, but he's a rich one who likes celebrities and bad-wrong fun. Some of your PCs might like some debauch: some might like disapproving: and every player likes celebrations in their honor.
Setting up other passengers is better the earlier you foreshadow them. My group had Father Feres "cast detect evil" on each prospective applicant, mwaa haa haa!
Setting up affiliation stuff is also a good idea while still in the city. Have affiliation reps approach the PCs if necess.

My players had a good time with the gladitorial contest held by the Church of Kord. Running a series of playoff contests between adventures allowed me to develop a competition between the party and the Jade Ravens. The competetion culminated at the end of the Wormfall Festival after TBG with a three way king of the hill battle royale on the Burning Pyramid of Death between the Jade Ravens, the party, and the current champion of Kord - Thraag the Ogre. Good times for all, except for the Jade Ravens and Thraag who were defeated after a brutal battle.
If I was to do this again I would have had Lavinia sponsor the Jade Ravens and introduced Avner to sponser the party.
