D&D Baby Shower

Off-Topic Discussions

Scarab Sages

Alright, so one of my players is pregnant and we were wanting to do a little In-Group baby shower for her and her husband. We've got a banner and will print it up with something like "Congrats on the little Monster!" with a few critters scanned on it (goblin, xvart, etc). We'll be having some munchies and of course the game (which will hopefully move from my intermission to the start of Sea Wyverns Wake).

I don't have time to order anything for the shower itself, but if anyone has any great ideas for food or anything else to do, let me know!

Wow, im seriously envious. I've heard that, at those baby shower things, they almost NEVER play DnD. LAME.

Snacks.

Hormonal Imbalance Game:
Everytime the group has a fight or other "emotional" experience, everyone makes a wisdom check to see if their characters exerience emotional changes. Give the mother-to-be a -4 on her wisdom. Each player who fails has to pretend to cry for 15 seconds (jokingly of coarse) once the fight or event ends.

Create Coat of Arms Game:
Have a contest between the players to see who can create the best coat of arms for the baby.

Title Game:
Have each player create a title for the baby which they promise to continue to use as a nickname as the child enters their early years (make in gender flexibile and complimentry). Example, Little Princess of (insert game world).

Mock D&D Gifts:
Each player finds a D&D magic item which will protect or otherwise enhance/benefit the little one and get on their knees before the mother-to-be and present it. Edit Example, offer Heath's Diaper of holding (see Heaths post below).as a magic item. Buy some diapers, wrap it up and give it as a gift calling it Diapers of Holding.

Alignment Game:
Make a spinner (or roll dice) with the nine alignments on it. Each player spins (rolls) to see what alignment the child will portray each month for the first two years after it is born. The results are recorded and kept. After the baby is born and the group gets together to play, the parents decide what alignment the child was like that month and give an award of some kind to the player (say candy for example) who spun/rolled that alignment for that month.

Character Game:
Have each player present to the mother-to-be a completed character sheet (inlcuding class, alignment, etc.) of what the child will be like when it grows up. She can keep the sheets to remember the baby shower.

Dice:
Present the mother with a set of baby dice (instead of clothes for the baby).

Cake:
Have a cake made which shows a dragon or similar D&D monster or personality on it and eat it during the game.

Snacks for Minitaures:
If you use miniatures, replace them with snacks for the the game. Example, use pretzels for orcs, use a box of your favorite snack for a big dragon, etc.

Roll Natural 20 Toast:
Everytime someone rolls a natural 20 they toast the baby and parents.

I think some D20 Soap might be in order...

That's the only gift I can think of that seems appropriate for a baby shower and yet also involves D&D.

*Edit* Oops! I just reread the original post and saw that you don't have time to order them. Maybe next time then.

Those are some cute ideas Eileen! Thanks!

My wife has sewn together a 'Baby's First d4' and 'Baby's First d8'. We are playing Savage Tide, so we ordered a Pirates of the Carribean cake and are replacing the Jack Sparrow figure with the couple's minis + a dragon and wyrmling. I'll take pictures and post 'em when I have the chance. Thanks for the input on such short notice guys!
