teak cigar case inlaid with tiny bits of jade worth 25 gp
2-pound gold ingot worth 100 gp bearing the Cheliax coat of arms,
silver ring bearing the inscription“For Emmah—the light in my nights,” - ?
a highly realistic and highly scandalous ivory figurine of two entwined succubi, worth 450 g
a tiny glass tube containing a dose of oil, -?
an obsidian wand,*
a crystalline vial (worth 25 gp) containing a liquid that smells of silver,
and a bejeweled brooch with a broken clasp worth over 900 gold )the queens).
Looking down at the head in the box Anju says "how can she have aged so quickly? It was but yesterday when she was standing right before us!"
I'm going to cast "Detect Magic" to see if I can sense anything from the head.

Arius Pelgane |

"Well, well. Quite a lot of valuable things."
Arius will tell you his valuations when he gets a chance, but just look at the spoiler in the other thread.
By the way, my guess is that "Zellara" either had a vengeful twin sister or was a ghost when she commissioned us. Let's check out her house later.
"What the.... Something's in the mystery box!"
Arius pulls the magic missile wand out of the box that he is holding.

Anju wrote:There is no magic on the head, you see a slight gleam where the box was under her head though. Looking up you see a strong aura around the box (still in Arius' hand)

I take it that the aura belongs to the wand that was in the box
"Do you see any mysterious vials of liquid in the box by any chance? If not then I must question our dear friend Lamm."

Arius Pelgane |

"Happy to search with you in a moment." Arius slips the Harrow deck into his belt pouch and makes sure that the wand is ready to use on whatever emerges from the box--if he'll need to.
There's a silvery liquid (possibly silversheen) and a mysterious vial of oil, which might be what you're looking for. We should question Lamm to confirm it when we have a chance.

Sorry, didn't have time to actually describe the contents of the box on Fri
As the two lock-masters uncoil the chain from the box on the table, a thumping can be heard coming from it. They look at each other and around at the party, making sure everyone is ready for whatever comes out. A hair-less mammal that looks so dehydrated that it couldn't possibly be 'alive' sticks it head out of the box Anyone trying to figure out what it is can make a Knowledge:nature or survival check The creepiest thing about it is that this creature has the face of a human boy of about 16.

"What is the meaning of this! This cannot be a product of nature!"

Tamai |

"What is the meaning of this! This cannot be a product of nature!"
Anju:
Everyone: The creature climbs out of the box, walks over to Ox and sits on it's haunches as if it is waiting for a command. Ox looks at it in disgust and decides to put it out of it's misery, decapitating it (rolled a double 20) the creature melts where it stood and more knocking can be heard coming from the box, a minute later the koala-like creature climbs out again, with Ox's face, and sits where the original one had. Ox walks over to Arius and Anju and whispers What is that thing, Why is it looking at me like that, and why does it look LIKE me? This part (the creature) isn't actually in the books, its just an awesome wondrous item that I want to see what you'll do with. once you figure it out

Arius studies the box and the creature, and is at a loss as to what it is.
While he leaning over the box, the Koala-like thing reaches up, and grabs ahold of Arius' belt, climbing onto the wizard's shoulder. and Grinning in Ox's face. As the koala steps on Arius' belt pouch, He again hear's the fortune teller's voice in his head saying "Migrus - bear"

Anju picks up the box and studies it knowing very little about the ways of the arcane.
"I'm guessing this box is the source of these deformed koalas. Maybe he'll go back in?"
Anju presents the open box to the creature.

Arius Pelgane |

Cool. The item will be potentially useful, albeit slightly creepy.
Arius has a glazed expression on his face for a moment, then seems to snap out of it. "I believe it's a variant Migrus--a sort of construct. Despite its appearance, it's not undead. In fact, it's a combination of...."
Anju and Rumil, feel free to check the link on Migrus in Cap's post. Arius is happy to blather about magic in an authoritative manner, even if his source is a ghost. ;-)
After noticing Branahm roll his eyes a few minutes later, Arius gets back to business. "Anju, I'd be happy to look for whatever liquid that you need and question Lamm about it if we need to. Do you know anything else about it?"

Arius Pelgane |

Arius looks at the Migrus. "That seems easy. Well, let's close up the box for the trip out; I don't think that the creature will suffer at all. Perhaps we can have it carry a rope up to the top floor so that we can circumvent the shark bridge."
"Branahm, if you'll go upstairs and make sure that the kids are still okay, the rest of us can check this place out more thoroughly."
"Lady Anju, could you tell me exactly what you are trying to find?"

Anju closes the box to contain the creature.
Anju is only partly listening as Arius asks her to describe the antidote when her memory flashes to the vials that Lamm was handing out to her villagers that night goes through her mind.
She looks at Arius and responds "It was a greenish liquid. That stuff called "shivers". I think we should question Lamm."
As she is saying this Anju looks over to where they left Lamm tied up.
I believe Rumil is also tied to the "shivers" storyline as well. So if he is still active maybe he can help in the search."

![]() |

"'Shivers'? We've heard that Gaedren was involved with the stuff. My brother can heal him to consciousness if you're ready to ask him your questions."
"Yes, I think considering his current situation, Gaerdren will be willing to see things our way."
I myself can heal him back if you don't want to use one of Branham's spells

Pseudo-Branahm |

"Very well." Branahm scrutinizes Gaedren for a few moments before invoking the power of Torag. Everyone in the room feels a sense of well-being as healing power passes through them.
He'll just channel positive energy instead of using a spell, but he makes sure that Gaedren is weaponless and securely tied before waking him up.

Keth Longstrider |

From outside the room where the group had defeated Lamm, Keth clutching a short spear in one hand and a stout shield in the other, several axes hanging from his belt, padded the Half-Orc. He peaked around the cornert and saw the party searching the room and the Cleric exhuding raw energy as wounds knit back together. Nearby the elvish woman knelt near the Crocodile that Lamm called his pet. The Critter seemed to be passivly calm, and seem to not care.
Her wolf snapped its head around at hearing Keths approach and he called out from the doorway. "I mean you no ill will. I was coming to deal with this filth myself. Hi Rags, remember me, Keth....It seems we arent the only ones whove been wronged by this foul excuse for a person. Its a wonder you haven't stuck a knife in his ribs yet."
Keth takes one slow step into the room and makes sure he is showing no aggressiveness in his posture, but his spear rests easily in his right hand should he need it.
He tries to meet Gaedrans eyes on the ground, but from his vantage point he cant...he wants to see him grovel before his death. "My name is Keth, some call me Longstrider. I was one of Lamm's prisoners, much like Rags...and Ive come for payback."
When Keths eyes pause on the two Elves he squints his right eye and cocks his head to the side, "I hope we won't have any problems here...Ive never had any luck with you Fey" The last said with almost a spit....

The 'Cap |

"Welcome, as long as you're after Lamm. Do you know this man, 'Rags'?"
Rags nods, his eyes a little wide, Kerth was the Lamm who's escape he had mimiced 3 years earlier (until he was caught and almost beaten to death), and had grown to be a bit of a legend among the boys of Lamm's Lambs..
Lamm Slowly comes to from the healing by the religious brother, and answers questions quite openly. The trips to outlaying villages to give out free shiver was a side deal for someone he never met. a note would show up in a fisher's catch, he would collect the drugs and go to the village indicated. The outcome of the village somehow factored into how much he was paid, but even Lamm is fuzzy on which outcomes were favorable and which weren't.
that's all Lamm knows about shivers

Anju stares down at Lamm as he speaks and in a voice more aggressive than she ever normally speaks she says.
"Lamm, you must know of an antidote or at least someone who might possess one. What do you know of this "supplier" of which you speak."
As Lamm is about to say anything Kerth walks into the room. Upon hearing his words Anju looks over to Rumil and sees a look of distrust on his face. She looks back over at Kerth
"A..ranger?"

He looked on and said "Whats this shivers hes talking about?"
and then as the pale Elf male tensed and the elf woman said 'A ranger'?
he shrugged, and said "I guess, I just considered myself a woodsman or a hunter...but Ive been called that by some."

Garth:
any particular tavern in Korvosa you had in mind?

Garth Blacksteel |

Garth looks at the figures skulking in the alley. What have we here? Looking for the opportunity to possibly release some frustrations by pounding on some alley-skulkers, Garth causally strolls down the alleyway.
I did not have a specific tavern in mind. Feel free to pick one that is handy or I can look one up in my Guide to Korvosa later tonight.

The 'Cap |

Garth:
feel free to choose one yourself if you have the books to be able to do so, that way you can pick one you can play with adding fluff from later

Garth Blacksteel |

All she's got is she's Chel!
"Watch your mouth, you dirty pincher!" Bristling at the racial slur, Garth sucker-punched one of the loud-mouthed agitators and began pushing his way to the front of the crowd. He felt no particular love for the queen, but Chelaxian honor was something else. Besides it was a good excuse to hit something and he began to feel better already.
Looking around Garth tried to spot the Guard he had caught a glimpse of before. Perception Check (1d20-1=5) Okay, not so much with the spotting then!
Let's say the tavern was the Sticky Mermaid, in Old Korvosa.

Arius Pelgane |

"Lamm, you must know of an antidote or at least someone who might possess one. What do you know of this "supplier" of which you speak."
"Yes, Gaedren. I'm very interested in your business associates too. And after you give us a better account of your involvement with 'shivers' and answer some questions about how to restore Ox's reputation, I'd love to talk about where you got this little bauble."
Arius shows Gaedren Queen Ileosa's brooch.

"I don't even know who it is - they left a note with which village to travel to, and left the gold in a secret stash in advance with the drugs. they have used 5 or 6 stashes, and never in the same order. as to the reputation," He sneers at you "Find the Guard's book of sellouts and misdeeds, and that MAY give you what you want"

Keth Longstrider |

Keth stood when he heard Lamm's disgusting voice sneering at Arius' questions and picked up his spear, taking a step forward he felt the anger coming back, and he said low in his throat...almost a growl.
"Oh let me just kill him and be done with him..He deserves far worse than what you are doing!"

Elizabeth Danflor this one is a real spoiler to those in the fishery
Garth Blacksteel: You feel the chair-back held by the man you suckerpunched splinter on your shield. The man's eyes go wide, and he turns and disappears into the crowd.
Fishery group:

Keth Longstrider |

without hesitation Keth takes quick strides towards the bed and with a glance at Lamm he growls "What you looking at Lamm...whats so important about the bed thats got you sweating...."
Leaning the spear against the wall, Keth reaches down and grips the edge of the bed and lifts it straight up so all could see underneath it...
"Is it underneath?.....what you looking at Lamm?"

Keth Longstrider |

with a wrench of his well muscled arm, the bed tips on its side...."So what is it Lamm, What you gawkin at...not underneath it...is it in it?"
Keth grabs up his spear and begins sticking into the bed clothing again and again as he continues...
"or is it hidden near th bed...or perhaps its a compartment behind it? Ill keep looking til I find something you scumsucker"

As you knock the layers of padding from the musty bed, some pieces of paper fall to the floor, ripped from your spear. They appear to be pages from a book the same size as the one Rags is holding which is missing a few pages...

Rags has been holding this special book since the beginning of the adventure.
Anju seems to be lost in thought and it takes her awhile before she says anything as she watches Keth tear apart the room.
"Keep Lamm alive please. I have an idea. He'll get what he deserves in the end."

Arius Pelgane |

"Certainly, Lady Anju. In the meantime, Keth, if you would be so good to bring those pages to where we could examine them more closely, I suspect that they will prove enlightening. 'Rags,' perhaps you could help interpret them?"
If Keth brings the missing pages over, Arius will read any interesting parts--especially anything pertaining Lamm, a PC, or an item the party has found--to the rest of the group.

Garth Blacksteel |

You feel the chair-back held by the man you suckerpunched splinter on your shield. The man's eyes go wide, and he turns and disappears into the crowd.
"I guess I'm lucky he aimed for my shield and not my skull." thinks Garth as he watches the man disappear into the crowd.
Turning his attention back to the nobleman and his attackers, Garth makes his way to the front of the crowd. Trying to get a good look at what is going on.
Are the men actually attacking the noble at this point or are they just harrassing him?

Keth Longstrider |

The pages had fluttered to the ground and Keths eyes had gone to them...certainly that wasn't it? was it? The pages must have some very important information on them if Lamm was worried about them...

shifting toe spear to his left hand, he held it behind the shield, The ranger knelt and retrieved the pages. With only half a glance at them he brought them over to where Arius crouched and handed them over.
His every instinct was to plunge the spear deep into Lamms black heart...and an almost inaudible growl escaped through his lips...
He looked down at the bound man and fought his instincts back...Lamm could see the internal fight in Keths eyes if he looked. With a shake of his head...The Half Orc took a step back and glanced back and forth among this group he had found. He looked at The woman and her wolf..."What can you tell me of this thing you mentioned 'shivers'?...Ive never heard of it."

Elizabeth narrows her eyes at the Fishery across the road.
"Looks like someone has beaten me here. I hope they haven't killed that bastard before I get a chance to exact some revenge."
Looking around the street, she cautiously walks over to the front door, Caress held out before her and a spell ready on her lips in case there is trouble.
Looking through the door, she sees a run down entry hall that looks like it has seen better days. She takes note of the dog's corpse on the floor as she continues cautiously into the bowels of the Fishery.
