there are no stairs, how are you trying to make your way down... are you shimmying down a pilon, or trying to find another way down?

m Human (Varisian) Rogue /1

I will go down into the ship first and see if they have made some sort of secret opening in the ship like a door or hatch. If this doesn't work I will try to find some rope to lower over the deck to the platform below..

the maps I gave you should have the boat top openthose on the top floor:

Spoiler:
The top floor of the boat is obviously in disrepair. The sea water and sea air is starting to create rot along the sides of the boat. You notice a pathway that looks commonly used from the end of the the dock to the stairs to the lower level.

Arius: the shark devours the scraps of meat from Anju threw to it, and starts to circle the area of dock you climbed up on. As you start to get nervous about it, Anju throws some more things over the other side of the boat, and the shark swims away in that direction.

M Human Cavalier /1st

Ox tenses and looks as if he might jump off the dock toward the shark at any moment. his knuckles were white as he strangled the hilt of his sword he intensely watched as the shark made way toward where Arius was. He stopped himself from jumping as the shark turned away to anju's ploy.

" Arius are you going inside and away from that beast? If so we will try to meet you there in moment's."

Here is a map of where I have everyone... if this sin't where you picture yourself, let me know

Here's a more detailed description of the boat (the stairs are behind the door):
The rotten deck of the this ancient barge seems to be barely intact, its hull worn and thick with seaweed and barnacles. The barge is held together primarily by the layers of old rope that lash it securely to the pilings that support the fishery and the nearby boardwalk. A single wooden door leading into the aft cabin bears a crude painting of a red fish on its surface.

Male Human (mostly Chelaxian) Pathfinder Universalist Wizard 3

Arius looks nervously at the circling fin. "It seems that I have little choice."

He mutters a brief incantation and tries to shift the door open with his Hand of the Apprentice.

Arius' position is fine, but I think that Branahm may be closer to Tikaani. He hasn't gone out far enough on the walkway to make an Acrobatics check... yet.

Male Human (mostly Chelaxian) Pathfinder Universalist Wizard 3

Arius scrutinizes the "door" in the hull, Hand at the ready. "There must be a latch here somewhere."

Arius Pelgane:

Spoiler:
you find no latch, but as you press firmly on one side of the odd surface, you find that it rotates freely, although a little stiff.

everyone else

Spoiler:
You pick your steps carefully over to the door and open it. inside you see a room that takes the rest of the ship. there is a large amount of spider webs, and stairs leading down to the lower level(s) of the boat

Male Human (mostly Chelaxian) Pathfinder Universalist Wizard 3

"I've found an entrance. Going in."

Spoiler:

Arius stands back and opens the panel with his Hand of the Apprentice. He advances and cautiously enters the ship.

That's assuming he doesn't see a gator or a mook standing with weapon in hand.

m Human (Varisian) Rogue /1

Rags makes his way down the steps dagger in hand. He quietly makes his way through the hold looking for any sign of a way onto the lower platform.
Stealth, Perception (1d20+8=15, 1d20+4=6)

Rumil follows Rags down the stairs quietly with thinblade at the ready. All the while looking around for anything to jump out

Stealth check (1d20+9=27)

Perception check (1d20+7=22)

for those who go into the hold:

Spoiler:
Dark and dank, the ship’s hold smells of mildew. Several barrels, crates, and other containers lie stacked here and there, and a shallow layer of river water has collected in puddles. A soft scratching sound comes from behind a few of the crates. there are more of the cobwebs seen at the top of the stairs, and they are more spread out
updated map

Male Human (mostly Chelaxian) Pathfinder Universalist Wizard 3

Arius looks around cautiously into the dimly lit hold as he steps inside.

Perception for hold (1d20+4=20)
Stealth for hold (1d20+1=11)

...although with the opening panel, I'm not expecting his Stealth fooled anyone.

He lets out a breath in obvious relief. "Rags, I'm glad to see you. Are the others coming?"

Rumil motions to the other two to be silent and with sword at the ready Rumil checks behind the crates where he thinks he heard the scratching

Rumil wrote:

Spoiler:
Behind the crate you find 4 spiders about as big as lap dogs.. They seems to be moving towards the fool of a loud wizard...

"Arius I would move if I were you there are some pretty big spiders coming your way"
Rumil says right after stabbing and killing one of them

Male Human (mostly Chelaxian) Pathfinder Universalist Wizard 3

Rumil's sudden appearance from the shadows--and sudden attack on the hold's monstrous inhabitants--startles Arius, but he moves toward the stairwell. With a quick incantation, a Hand of the Apprentice stabs his dagger at the nearest spider.

That's assuming that he can see his opponents in the shadowy hold.

Wait... the cards tell me that I will be bitten by at least one spider....

[ooc]spiders are vermin and not animals [/spoiler]
Arius Stabs sideways with his dagger, and is surprised as the dagger not only hits on, but goes through it and pins the second to the crate. He turns as Anju attempts to commune to the insects in vain, to see another spider ready to jump on him. Rags comes to the rescue, kicking viciously at it against the ceiling, green good dripping down to the floor of the hold.

vermin are animals too and although spiders might be pushing it I've seen druids deal with rats before, even the giant ones.

Anju turns to Arius
"our previous methods seemed to work well before, I can keep the shark distracted while we cross."

Anju will assist Arius in searching the cabin keeping an eye out for any possible secret doors.

"Lady Anju, if you judge that you can continue distracting the shark effectively, I'm willing to try the crossing."

What do you think about throwing something larger into the water to keep the shark occupied for longer, something like food from down here... or perhaps any raw fish from upstairs? If we used fish, Branahm or Guarn could gut them and toss them into the water away from the walkway while we cross.

And there's always the dead dog.

Sczarni

male Captive2/Rower3/Brawler3

As Arius is saying this, Guarn comes to the fishery door, and heaves the body of the do into the water about 30 feet to the side of the boat (off to the top right of the map) He looks at you all and huffs "well... you all going or what?"

Although not terribly pleased with the idea of throwing the dead dog in the water Anju figured this was as good a chance as any and crosses the walkway beckoning the rest to follow.

sorry for the delay guys

Rumil slips past Aruis taking the front and moving across the dock carefully and as silently as possible.

Balance check, and Stealth Check (1d20+9=23, 1d20+9=21)

I'm going use the marching order arius put in the ooc board, with rags in back

You all cross the dock easily and go into the room at the end of it. You enter a fairly large room with an opening to the water. An Old man is hunched in the corner, and recognizes each of you as you come in. to rumil"Ah... the elf, here for some more of your addiction, eh?" to the brothers "You two are more resourceful than I thought.. I should have fed your measly sister to my pet when I first heard you were looking for me." to Ox The guard trying to clean his name? Ha like that will work! to Anju (while looking at Rumil)"ah.. you brought the cute elf from that quaint village... How many new addicts do I have there my dear, and are you here for more or as my payment?" He glances to the last to enter the building, Rags "YOU!? Havn't I beat you enough to kill you three times over yet? Well, no matter, I'll fix that momentarily."

Male Human (mostly Chelaxian) Pathfinder Universalist Wizard 3

Arius smiles, showing all of his teeth. "Gaedren, Gaedren. No need to make threats. Let's talk about this."

Twisting his ring, he mutters a few syllables in some incomprehensible tongue...

a.k.a. Charm Person, DC 16.

Initiative against Gaedren Lamm (1d20+1=19)

m Human (Varisian) Rogue /1

you never have been able to do me in old man, and I don't think today will be any different you stinking Chel! Rags smiles and waves his daggers. I'm finally going to give you what you have coming!
inititive (1d20+4=15)

Rags hurls a dagger at Gadrian. attack and damage if hits (1d20+4=15, 1d4=2)

Looking sat you all, Lamm looks Puzzled "How did you find me and how did you all come together, anyway?" Ox mentions Zellara and Lamm laughs. "The Fortune teller? Oh Yes I remember her and her 'harrow deck' they're right back here - would you like to see them?"

Just checking that the placement on the map is good witheveryone before combat starts?

"Abducting middle-aged widows? Really now, Gaedren, I was expecting some clever threat involving a gang of thugs or the neighborhood shark. Is this the best that you can do?"

"Abducting middle-aged widows? HA don't make me laugh - she came here looking for her little cutesy son" at this point Rag's dagger comes flying as Lamm drws him crossbow up and fires you think that he missed, as his bolt goes into the water below your feet. a moment later you realize how wrong you are, as Lamm's Croc comes thrashing out of the water snapping at you.

Now you know why I asked about placement

Arius casts his spell, and says "why don't you show her to us?"
At this Lamm laughs saying "you think I'm going to turn my back on you now one of you already tried to skewer me!" As Anju tries unsuccessfully to quiet the crocodile. Rumil throws a dagger at Lamm, grazing his leg. Ox moves foreward trying to get the crocodile within reach of his weapon, and the croc abliges, snapping its jaws closed on his non weapon arm. Lamm then fires his crossbow at Rags again, The arrow going cleanly through Rags' torso critical hit - 6 damage, and at the end of each of your turns 4 more bleed damage until healed

m Human (Varisian) Rogue /1

Rags clutches his side as he goes to flip through the air trying to get close to Lamm.

Acrobatics (1d20+12=15)

Rags bounds past Branaham, and would attack Lamm, but slips on his own blood about 2 steps before the crime boss, sliding to his knees just in front of Lamm. Looking back, this might have been lucky, as Lamm's dagger flashed inches above the top of Rags' head. Branaham Heals Rags no more bleed damage, but you still took one round worth at the end of your action - the heal is for 9HP Arius casts something which makes Lamm forget where he is momentarily, and Rumil Jumps over everyone, quickly attacking with his thinblade and scoring a dark line on Lamm's arm.

The wolf jumps over everyone- tackling Lamm by the time she steps away, Lamm is no longer moving. At the same time Anju successfully calms the crocodile.
no more baddies around, what do you want to do?

"Don't kill him... yet. We must find out if this creature really has captured the fortune-teller."

"Ox and Rags, let me take a look at your wounds."

Nice work taking out the baddies, Anju; that charm made this fight a lot shorter.

Anju lays out the items on the floor next to Lamm knowing very well that the weapons are of the kind that druids frown upon.

"Perhaps the others can use them" she thinks to herself as she ties Lamm up.

"I'm willing to bet these keys will come in handy" Anju says to the group pointing to the keyring.

I'll post when I get home... unless someone does something else I'll assume Anju opens the door behind Lamm.

This foul-smelling room seems to be a combination bedroom and study. A wooden bed with a lumpy mattress stands against the east wall, while a round table heaped with dirty plates, bread crusts, stained goblets, fruit rinds, and scuttling cockroaches sits nearby. At the foot of the bed sits a large strongbox, a slighty rusted lock securing its lid. A sagging dresser filled with moth-eaten clothes well past their glory days is in one corner—what appears to be a wooden hatbox surrounded by a small cloud of flies sits atop this dresser next to a small wooden strongbox wrapped in chains and padlocked. There are lockpicks sitting next to the padlock, it looks like this is what has been occupying Lamm the last few hours.

Male Human (mostly Chelaxian) Pathfinder Universalist Wizard 3

"What a filthy hovel." Arius pulls out a handkerchief and holds it to his nose.

"Ox, please come over with me to check the hatbox. I'd like you to be ready to bisect anything hostile that emerges when I open it."

Inside the hatbox is Zellara's Head, poorly preserved and made-up to look as close to alive as a obviously dead face can.

Anyone who can make a DC 10 heal check:

Spoiler:
she has obviously been dead for several weeks

when the head is moved, you find a small wooden box containing her Harrow deck under it.

Anju:

Spoiler:
You can't believe your eyes: How could she be dead for so long - you just talked to her yesterday?

All:
The old man’s personal habits are very much on display—he has little interest in cleanliness. Bedbugs infest the sheets, a chamber pot pushed under the bed is badly in need of cleaning, and the bits of food heaped on his table have attracted a large nest of roaches and rats.

The Footlocker at the foot of the bed is locked, but easily opened with a key from Lamm's keyring. In it you find 6 bound and wrapped items - these contain:a narrow teak cigar case inlaid with tiny bits of jade worth 25 gp, a 2-pound gold ingot bearing the Cheliax coat of arms, a silver ring bearing the inscription “For Emmah—the light in my nights,” a highly realistic and highly scandalous ivory figurine of two entwined succubi, a tiny glass tube containing a dose of oil, an obsidian wand, a crystallinevial containing a liquid, and a bejeweled brooch with a broken clasp.

Even to an untrained eye, this brooch is obviously the most valuable object in the entire collection. The circular gold brooch depicts a pseudodragon and an imp coiled around each other in an almost yin-yang pattern. The pseudodragon’s eye is an amethyst, while the imp’s eye is
an emerald.

Arius:

Spoiler:
You recognize the broach as property of the Queen of Korvosa Herself! you also see magic coming from the oil, wand, and vial

Male Human (mostly Chelaxian) Pathfinder Universalist Wizard 3

Arius pales. "I think that I've seen that brooch before... on Queen Ileosa."

"I've had some experience with valuing items. I'll take a closer look at these--especially the oil, wand, and vial, which are magical."

Here's some Appraise checks for all the items.
