Hey, I want to start playtesting the Pathfinder RPG this week, but every time I try to download it Internet Explorer says:
"Can not download [filename] as the connection to the server has reset"
and Firefox says
"PathfinderRolePlayingGameOGLAlphaReleasePDF.zip.part could not be saved because the source file could not be read.
Try again later or contact the system administrator"
I've tried re-personalizing it a bunch of times, but it doesn't want to co-operate. Help me Paizo Wan Kenobi, your my only hope.

I didn't have any problems downloading it on release day - mayhap take another crack at it?

We have been having some issues with our servers this morning, but the level of screaming and pounding emanating from Gary in the server room has tapered off somewhat, so it looks like they are starting to behave a bit.
Please try your download again this afternoon, and let me know if it still isn't working.
thanks,
cos

Hey, tried it again, but still no download, same issue as before. As I type this I'm downloading the Rise of the Runelords Players Guide, so I can download things from paizo.
In any case, its easter long weekend, so I can be patient, hopefully the problem will be fixed tuesdayish.
Unfortunately, you're the only one reporting this, and I can't figure out what might be causing it. Do you get partial downloads?

Didn't Lisa say your downloads were hosted elsewhere? The Player's guides aren't Watermarked, so are you possibly hosting those locally?
Nighthunter, have you ever had to download anything you first had to watermark, or just the player's guides?

You're on the right track, but not precisely correct. If we're serving a file through your "My Downloads" page (excluding the links to the Player's Guides at the top), it's coming from our colocation server, whether it's watermarked or not. If it's linked from elsewhere (like the Player's Guides), then it's coming from our main webservers.
But it sounds like that's not the problem here.
Nighthunter, you've ruled out pretty much everything except your own computer. Do you have any firewalls or other security packages that might be interfering?

Turned off my firewall, but still no love from the Paizo servers.
Its these kinds of gremlins that stopped me from getting into computers as a career in the first place ^_^.
I'll keep trying over the next week, but if it doesn't work, it doesn't work and I'll just have to live with using my friend's computers to download my shiny pdfs straight to flash drive.

I have downloaded something that needed watermarking, from a computer that is networked to the one I am trying to download to now, and that seemed to work no problem.
Well, if you can get the files on another computer on the same network (indicating the same DNS server, which rules out another possible problem that jumps to mind), then yeah, I'd say it sounds like a client issue.
You already said you tried different browsers...any other differences between the node that works and the one that doesn't? Different OS? Wired vs. wireless? The player's guides (which you can get) and everything else (which you can't) are being sent on different ports and/or different protocols, though I don't see why that would be a problem (especially with your local firewall turned off).
Other than that I'm out of ideas...sorry. :(
Edit: One last thing: some antivirus/security suites (typically for Windows) will block various types of executables and scripts(.exe, .com, .bat, .vbs, etc.), though I can't see why they'd stop a .zip file (which is pure data and hence is not really an execution threat), but it might be worth checking.
