Firstly: what should their Stat modifiers be?

Should they get the 'usual' PC-race ones, a +2 to two characteristics (being wolfish, I'd go with Constitution and Wisdom) and a -2 to another (Charisma?), or should it be handled the way it is for humans, half-elves, and half-orcs, with just one +2 to any characteristic?

As you point out, only humans and the half-breed races get +2 to any one ability score. All the other unique races get 2 +2s and 1 -2. By that standard, PFRPG versions of other half-breed races, such as muls or half-giants, would also receive +2 to any one stat. Lupin, however, are not (if I recall correctly) half-breeds; they are a wholly unique race, who just happen to look like anthropomorphic wolves. Therefore, I would guess that they would get the +2,+2, -2 array.

If memory serves, however, they had a level adjustment, but I think it was just a +1. If so, and assuming I were to allow them as PCs in my campaign, with the way the standard core races have been buffed in PFRPG, I would probably just drop the level adjustment and use them as is.

*Now I wish I weren't at work, so I'd have access to my Dragon Compendium.*

I have the PFRPG Core book, which I'm using to run a tabletop game for my kids. Unfortunately, due to a large family and strange work hours, I don't have any time to play in a tabletop game myself. If ayone is starting a PBEM game and needs a player, drop me a line @ jerrodkaine@gmail.com. I will play PBP if absolutely necessary, but prefer PBEM because I don't always have time to keep up with PBP.

Remar, still in the hold, draws his blaster and makes a few personal modifications (OOC: Class Talent) to it. Then, he moves the firing mode from stun to full, takes up cover behing the cargo door, and fires at the closest droid. (1d20+4=6 <5, if they're further than 20 yards> Since I doubt that hit, I won't bother rolling damage.)

(OOC: I know this is too many actions for 1 round. Due to my limited posting schedule, I thought I'd post Remar's next few actions and let you break them up over however many rounds you need to.)

"Ships have been crashing here . . . well, for as long as I can remember. I don't recall many leaving, however, especially if the poor travelers reach the surface of the planet."

As he wraps up his triage of the droid, remar verifies HK-22 is powered on and gives him a friendly pat on the shoulder. "Shhip-shhape." He looks around at the battered cargo hold they're in; light streaming through gaps in the hull. "Ssso to ssspeak."

"I have not heard of Coruscant, or this Republic . . . some of the wrecks may have star maps of some sort. My people do not use them. We can defy gravity for periods of time, and the vacuum does not harm us, so we travel freely from the moons to the surface without ships. We have no desire to leave the moons, and we avoid the planet."

Looking at Ceelel and Klonsa when they ask about being preserved for 300 years, Lucen replies to them.

"Nothing can die on these moons or the world below, at least not from aging or from starvation. The storms, accidents, meteors, or the bright lances from the raiders . . . these things bring death, but a lack of food, or the passage of time, death is not in these things."

"What you sssay about the propertiesss of thisss plassse isss fasssinating. I would relishh the opportunity to ssstudy them...sssee if they can be contained." Remar says this all off-handedly, not caring whether anyone is actually listening. The primary focus of his attention is HK-22, as he tries to verify the droid is operational.

Not wanting to contemplate what this meant for his other deeply-held beliefs, the Khil instead focused on something he could more readily identify with. He moved to where the droid was, and started checking its structural and functional integrity.

At Aruuna's query regarding the time, Remar recalls that he has not checked his Datapad since the ion blast. Pulling it out of one of his bags, he powers it on and immediately checks on the date.

For Remar:

"Hmm." Remar's brow creases, and he taps the datapad experimentaly with his finger. When that doesn't work he knocks it, rather urgently, against his palm, then stares at it in consternation. "Blasssted ion weaponsss. I am not getting an uplink sssignal. In addishhion, the devissse isss alssso shhowing that three hundred yearsss have passssed. As the ship's status goes from bad to worse, remar has time for two thoughts. First, he hopes that the ion blast didn't cause any permanent damage to his equipment. Secondly he chides himself for unstrapping before the ship set down somewhere. A third thought begins to percolate, but doesn't have time to form before everything goes black.

"If my guessss isss correct," Remar muses aloud, after the ship is through jolting about, "all your combat preparashhionsss may be for naught. I Ssstrongly sssussspect that the shhip'sss hyperdrive wasss jussst activated. Wherever we are, it isss mossst likely not the Ssstar Forge, if we're even anywhere near Rakata Prime." As he finishes unbuckling, he approaches the ship's intercom and presses the button for the cockpit. "Captain, could you kindly provide the shhip'sss presssent location?"

The droid temporarily forgotten, Remar frantically begins looking for somewhere he can sit down and strap in, or at least some netting or a nice sturdy support beam to grab ahold of. "I can not be absssolutely sssertain what isss about to happen," he says, to no one in particular, "but I would advissse everyone to brassse themssselvesss."

OOC: I picked up the Khil speech affectation (hissing 's' sounds) from the KotOR comic book. If everyone prefers, I will drop it from my text in the future.

Remar turns toward the droid. Immediately, his analytical mind begins evaluation all of the droid's components and construction.

d20+9=24

Remar followed Ceelell back to the hold, where the rest of the infiltration force was waiting. As Ceelell tried to inspire the warriors in their group, Remar sorted through the contents of the two bags he was carrying, then did a touch check of all his pockets. Every bit of his equipment was accounted for; residing in its proper place.

As a technician, he know his place was in the rear of the group, along with the reporter. Knowing that things seldom worked out as expected, however, he went ahead and checked his blaster, ensuring it was set to stun. He also verified his stun baton was clipped to his belt, as it should be.

With a deep breath that caused a reedy whispering as it passed through his hullepi -- the tentacle-like masses of flesh that hung down in front of his mouth -- he psyched himself up for the chaos they would soon be stepping into.

Had my books with me at work on Sunday, but was a busy day. Planned on working on it yesterday, but wife had something come up and I had to take care of the twins and home-schooling our oldest. Trying to get it knocked out and to you tonight.

I'm leaning toward either a scout or a slicer. Species unknown at this time. Will e-mail you when I've decided more.

Shucks...there goes my Ewok Imperial Knight concept...

I'll look through the books and try to have a concept to you by Friday. What's the name of the thread you want us to post to?

Also, are there any books or anything from any books that you're not allowing?

Yeah, I'd be interested. Are you planning to run it on these boards, or on another service, like Yahoo! or Google Groups?

I'm still waiting on mine. Personally, I think it's bogus that folks who did NOT pre-order this product were able to walk right up and buy them at GenCon, while those of us who did pre-order are having to wait for restocking. Yet another reason I won't be ordering directly from Paizo ever again.

Of course...the change that makes all the difference is in the ONE part of the document I did not take a careful look at: the Level-dependent benefits chart. Thanks for pointing that out.

I've tabled a proposal with my PBEM group to adopt this Alpha rule-set for the Rise of the Runelords campaign we were about to start. Hopefully, they'll like it as much as I do, so we can provide feedback on how it works in action.

However, I spent the night reading every word in the document and there was only one flaw in the text that really stood out for me: In the section on Fighter's bonus feats, it states that Fighters now get a feat at every level. How do you figure that?

Fighters get a bonus feat, as a class ability, at 1st level and every even-numbered level. Then, like all characters, they get a feat at 1st level and every level evenly divisible by 3. (And that doesn't include the bonus feat humans get at 1st level.) That still leaves 6 levels where a fighter receives no feat (5th, 7th, 11th, 13th, 17th, 19th). You couldn't even change the text to state that fighters receive an average of one feat per level, as that still only totals 18 feats (or 19, if they're human).

Did you actually click the add to cart option and go through the checkout process? I had to do this before I was able to download the file.

I can completely sympathize. I ordered a back issue a while ago, so I could get the part of the giant FR map I was missing. Went to my mailbox to find the mailing envelope folded in half -- along the width of the magazine. Fortunately, the good folks at Paizo were kind enough to send me a new one -- in a parcel box, this time.

I also lodged a complaint with my local post office, and NONE of my magazines, deliveries, or even normal mail have shown any damage since.

That's exactly the kind of information I'm looking for. Thank you for the assist!

Thank you for these links. These are good starting places for me. But I'm looking more for information on the actual religions, such as demands these deities place upon their followers and how the worship of the deity has shaped that race's culture, outlook, etc.

I'm trying to get information of the following monstrous deities:

Blibdoolpoolp
Eadro
Sekolah

Unfortunately, I find Deities & Demigods and Faiths & Pantheons lacking (as in: there's no information there at all). If anyone on the boards can help me out with this, please do. The more information I have, the better.

Thank you in advance.

We are using the World of Greyhawk. Based on numerous posts I've read regarding the adventure path (and previous experience with Dungeon adventures) I ran the group through a mini-adventure to level them up to 2nd before starting them on Whispering Cairn. They start WC this coming Saturday. Here's the party composition:

Malik: Male Human Sorcerer 2. The player is new to RPGing, and is basically just doing his best to support the group for now. I hope to see him start to develop more of a personality and agenda for his character in the near furture.

Gilydin (sp?): Male Halfling Rogue 2. This player has very limited tabletop experience. Most of his RPG experience is from MMORPGs, and it shows in his reliance on RPG stereotypes. However, he's putting a real effort into developing a distinct character personality, and actually role-playing it.

Spag: Male Half-Orc Fighter 2. This player has gobs of RPG experience, but made a conscious decision to play a stereotype, because of a single (very) low roll during character creation. His big dumb brute of a character has a very well developed personality, has provided a good deal of laughter (and embarassment) in social situations, but moves to the forefront during combat, where he's proven himself invaluable.

Silas Book: Male Human Rogue 1/Cleric of St. Cuthbert 1. This player has the most experience in the group, next to myself. He lists Shepard Book (from Firefly/Serenity) and Sayid (from Lost) as his inspirations for this character (more the later than the former). Unbeknowst to the other characters, Silas used to work for the Free City military/government as an "information gathering" specialist. He has also emerged as the strongest personality, and the party's leader. (He is also my accomplice for Hall of Harsh Reflections.)

We may be gaining one more player, who I believe wants to play a Paladin. Which should prove interesting if Silas' true past ever comes to light.

I'm a fan of the IK, myself, and agree that, in tone at least, the Age of Worms AP fits nicely with that setting. However, I'm particularly interested in hearing how you guys plan on reconciling elements like the Air Lords (due to the IK being effectively cut off from the planes) and the various dragons (due to their unique nature and limited number in the IK) that play such a large role in events. There were a few other elements mentioned in the campaign overview in AoW Overload (Kyuus' pact with demons would seem to indicate some sort of Infernalism or dragon-taint) that also did not quite seem to fit. Perhaps one of you would be so kind as to post your conversion here when it is complete? I'm not sure yet that I would use the IK or not, but I'd certainly like to see what you come up with.

Why not use the last page to provide some much needed Epic Level support. Even just one encounter an issue designed to challenge parties of level 20+ would be better than the scant support Epic play currently receives. Each encounter could include notes on how to drop it into an existing campaign as a single-shot encounter, or how the whole year's encounters could be strung together to form a module of sorts.
