Bedu the Barber |

Bedu goes across the chamber and waits, on lookout again. The dwarven eyes peer into what lies beyond.
"Could we search quickly, if you wish too? Be wary of goblin curses on any that steal from their dead.."

Perception rolls for people to keep things moving along...
Skittle Perception (1d20+4=16)
Pindara Perception (1d20+3=5)
As Indo walks over to the sarcophagi, two slavering humanoids leap out from behind them, giving up their ruse. Their mottled, rotting skin is pulled tight over their frames, and hate-filled eyes burn above mouths filled with sharp teeth.
As they clamber forward over the sarcophagi, claws greedily outstretched, Indo swipes at one with his sword, but misses.
Roll initiative and state your actions. Updated map here.
Bedu:
Please make a Perception check.

Indo Ninzarbi |

Nice.
Assuming I am not paralyzed or dead, Indo drops the sunrod and swings again at the closest foe. The dead should stay dead! he says and takes a step backward toward his party.
Death to the undead! (1d20+3=10, 1d10+3=6)

BTW - the new map does not have the bad guys next to Indo. Is our round during their move towards me? Do they have a 15 foot reach? Yeesh!
That's cuz I updated the map before I knew whether y'all would be surprised or not, and was too lazy to update it again before I posted. :)
So they popped out, moved forward, and Indo attacked them on a "surprise round" for them. So assume they're next to Indo as round 1 begins.
Lotus |

Rudely awakened by the sounds of battle, Lotus is quickly ready for action. She knows however that she is still hurt from the fight with the abberation. Her only action in the beginning is to move a little bit forward to protect Pindara should any of the creatures come close. Her short sword is at the ready to attack anything that comes near. Pindara saved our lives back there. Now it's time to protect her as well. What are these things? she cries out, unsure of what they face this time.
Initiative Lotus (1d20+4=24)
Round 1 attack, if needed. (1d20+2=14, 1d6+2=7)

Bedu the Barber |

Bedu moves up next to Indo with his scimitar slices downwards at a monstrous head, "By the horns of the desert kraken, die!"
Attack=7 it rolls random right?
"Help us everyone!"

22 Bedu
24 Liet
19 Skittle
13 Pindara
2 Indo
Round 1
"What are these things?" cries Lotus, drawing her sword and moving forward to protect Pindara.
Bedu moves up next to Indo and slices with his scimitar. "By the horns of the desert kraken, die!" he shouts, but his swing goes wide. "Help us everyone!"
Liet brandishes his holy symbol. "Bless your humble servant and smite thine enemies!" he intones as a wave of holy energy replenishes your depleted reserves. Everyone heals 5 hp.
The creature on the right hisses as the sacred energy washes over him, but stands its ground. Its companion to the left screams in pain and jumps off the sarcophagus to flee. Bedu and Indo both strike at it as it tries to get away, and it vanishes up the northwestern tunnel.
Bedu Attack of Opportunity; Damage (1d20+2=17, 1d6+2=4)
Indo Attack of Opportunity; Damage (1d20+3=8, 1d10+3=5)
Skittle draws his shortbow and looses an arrow at the remaining creature, but his shot goes wide.
Attack; Damage (1d20+5=9, 1d6=6)
Pindara waits, hoping to not use one of her few remaining spells if not needed.
The monster on the sarcophagus swipes Indo with one of its claws, and clamps down on the warrior's arm with its jagged teeth.
Indo takes 5 points of damage, and must make 3 Fortitude saves.
Finally, Indo swings his blade at the beast. He misses wildly, and side-steps to block the creature coming any closer to the party.
Behind the monster, the hideous statue leers at you in the flickering shadows.
Round 1 is over. Please post your actions for round 2. Updated map is here.

Indo Ninzarbi |

Three Fort saves? With invisible castle? There's no way!
Indo winds up for a mighty blow. With his sword flipped behind him and his shoulders on the verge of snapping the blade forward, he snarls and says I will send you...back...
Indo eyes widen in disbelief as his words slur and his arms freeze in place. His whole body retains his prestrike stance, but never unleashes the blow. As the paralysis overtakes him, his eyes move toward, Bedu, but he cannot call for help.
Practically guarantees a "1" (1d20+1=20, 1d20+1=8, 1d20+1=11)

Lotus |

Oh hell! Lotus thinks as she sees Indo get raked by the foul undead beast. With plenty of trepidation she moves forward to aid the big man. Then with her shord sword she tries to pierce through the creatures defense.
Round 2 attack (1d20+2=19, 1d6+2=3)
I declare that one creature my dodge

Shane is having some family medical issues and might be back and from from Indy to homethe next few days. I think he'd prefer to be NPC'd rather than hold up the game. He'll come back when things aren't so chaotic for his family. Sorry.
On the (sole) upside, if you recall that his wife just had a baby, the good news is that they are both fine. It's other family.

Thanks for the heads up. I had sent him an email and didn't get a response, so I was just wondering.

Round 2
Indo's threat is cut off as paralysis sets in, his body going rigid and freezing in place.
Lotus edges forward to attack the creature, looking for all the world like she wants to turn and run back to the surface. But her short sword slips through its defenses and she stabs it in the leg.
Seeing Indo overcome by the ghoul's attack, Bedu rushes forward to flank it with Lotus. He slashes with his scimitar, blade flickering in the dim light, and successfully wounds the monster, which now growls and slavers in pain and anger.
Attack; Damage (1d20+4=23, 1d6+2=6); Confirm critical (1d20+4=8) Sadly, no.
Liet steps farther forward, brandishing his holy symbol again, but the undead monstrosity stands its ground. "Indo! Fall Back!" Liet cries, but the paralyzed warrior can do no more than roll his eyes in agitation. Everyone is healed 1 more hp.
Skittle darts forward and looses another arrow, which whizzes right between Bedu and Indo, close enough for them to feel the breeze of its passage. Attack; Damage (1d20+1=20, 1d6=4)
The arrow takes the ghoul right in the throat, and it drops, gurgling and thrashing as the necrotic energy possessing it leaks out through its wounds, leaving its body a lifeless hulk.
Round 2 is over, with great success, unless you want to go chasing after the turned beastie. Final map here, if interested. Indo's paralysis lasts for 7 more rounds.

Lotus |

Seeing the foul Ghoul still twitching and gurgling, Lotus wastes no time to sink her sword into its throat to end its unnatural life permanently. A small tricklet of sweat can be seen dribbling down her temple, but she quickly wipes it away. Now noone will ever know if it was fear or exertion that caused the drop of sweat to appear. What happened to Indo? Lotus asks Bedu, whom she still sees as the leader of this assorted party. And where did that other thing get to?

Indo Ninzarbi |

Indo's dry eyes slowly begin to tear - signaling a return to his faculties. With a sudden intake of breath, he drops his sword and collapses, clutching his wound with one hand and wiping his eyes with the other.
After heaving for several seconds, he lifts his swords again. Drops of water fall from his cheeks as he scans the floor. He squints away the blur and says...
Tracking the ghoul... (1d20+5=25)
It went this way...it might tell others about us. We should kill it.

Lotus |

Lotus skids to a halt to avoid the claws of the ghoul and side-steps the monster to come up behind it. Once there she puts her sword to good use. It penetrates the natural armor of the undead and does its damage. Now Indo has plenty of chance to finish off the creature from up front.
Initiative, Attack, Damage and Acrobatics (1d20+4=7, 1d20+2=22, 1d6+2=6, 1d20+8=25)

Indo Ninzarbi |

Bedu the Barber |

Bedu follows the others into the fray.
Initiative=13, Attack=10 and Damage=3
He tries to stay close to Indo in case he freezes again. "Quickly before the charnel beast gets help!" he calls to the rest.

Weakened from the previous battle, the ghoul quickly falls to the combined attacks of Lotus and Indo, its claws flailing in impotent rage as its unnatural life-force bleeds away.
You're back in the first room you entered. Do you want to go down the unexplored northeast passage, or go back to the previous room with the ghouls and sarcophagi?

Lotus |

After finishing off the fled ghoul Lotus really wants to return to have a good look at the room they came from and almost leaves without waiting for Indo and Bedu.
Once there, she takes time to search the room carefully, take stock of the sarcophagi and anything else interesting in the room.
Let me know what kind of checks you need from me.

![]() |

Back in the sarcophagus room:
Two huge stone sarcophagi stand in state to the west before a hideous stone statue depicting a large goblinoid figure, its chest covered in eyes and a huge maw of gnashing teeth in its belly. Through the teeth, a jumble of sculpted bones can be seen filling the mouth. (Liet identified the statue as the Eater of the Dead, a goblin death god.) Another statue of a tentacled worm with humanoid features stands against the opposite wall. Ahead, across more rubble-strewn floor, a passageway leads into another room.
Lotus (or anyone else), you can make a general Perception check for the whole room. If you want to inspect something specifically, make a dedicated Perception check for that.

Bedu the Barber |

Bedu starts by searching the statue, working from its base upwards.
He will also ask Liet to listen down the new exit for danger.
"It is good that some of us can fight well. Indo what happened to you? Do your wounds need further assistance? I trust you can protect my valued flesh a little longer."

Lotus |

Lotus is so excited about actually inspecting the room that she fails to make any true observations about the features. In fact he excitement quickly deteriorates into sulking. Pffftt, I was expecting more from this. Why would these things otherwise be defending them? she asked to noone in particular. In frustration she kicks a piece of rubble up the new passageway making plenty of noise.

Liet Kynes |

Bedu starts by searching the statue, working from its base upwards.
He will also ask Liet to listen down the new exit for danger.
"It is good that some of us can fight well. Indo what happened to you? Do your wounds need further assistance? I trust you can protect my valued flesh a little longer."
"Got that, Bedu."

Peering into the sarcophagus, you see a humanoid (though inhuman) skeleton dressed in exotic half plate armor. Its arms are crossed above its chest, hands clasped around the hilt of a greatsword.

Can't fail Knowledge (Local), unless you rule Knowledge Local can only be used very specifically. For example, hobgoblins in Iskandria, vs hobgoblin cults below this city.
I have seen my share of hobgoblins near the ruins in the jungle. Always looking for treasures that don't belong to them, those. Is this figure famous?

Lotus |

Not able to suppress the urge she moves closer and reaches into the sarcophagus. Her young fingers run over the exotic half plate armor and along the blade of the greatsword.
Incredible... fabulous... we've come upon a fortune... Lotus thinks to herself as she feels the intricate subtelties of the armor and sword. How can we move it? she asks and in her mind she is already thinking of a fence that can "move" it into cash.
I have only knowledge of dungeoneering and architecture & engineering and low wisdom.

Bedu also takes a look inside at the body and its equipment.

Lotus |

Amazed at the knowledge she has on the intricate armory she really wants to take it with her and get the best price for it.
