I hope Shulim isn't too difficult to understand. I'm not really sure what accent he's using here but it's clearly quite thick.

I understand it just fine. I tried to do something similiar, but in no way as good as yours on Mr. Wolf's PFRPG game. That idea went out the window when I realized how hard it is to not 'talk' correctly. My initial goal was to have his accent something close to the slang spoken by poverty stricken British children. It didn't take long for me to realize I didn't even know what that sounded like or even knew if they spoke like the movies portrayed. He has since moved to my normal typing patterns but I am trying to interject some of his personal slang in.

The Exchange

I understand most of it and Shulim does have a way of getting his point across. Good character, fits well with the rest. Very well in fact.

FW: You've said before in general skill checks must be trained. What about yesterday's know(local) and today's sense motive. Trained only?

Sense Motive is untrained so go for it. Knowledge skills are trained but if you can give me a reason that you may know something I can be convinced.

I am very much into it and am able to follow it. The accent fits very well. Good Stuff!

Well, know(local). I mean if you grow up somewhere you just absorb a certain amount of knowledge. Always seemed to me like it should be possible untrained in the area you grew up or have lived for years and when you're not at home it should be know(tourist trap) or know(geography) or (anthropology) that applies.

Guy, Shulim's accent is more like dialect. And it is perfectly understandable. I like it. It adds a he's from away aura to Shulim.

Ok, good to know, if the DM and my fellow PCs can understand Shulim them I must be doing something right.

I always hear him in my mind with a thick Cajun accent from out da bayou.

Is this game levelling too slowly for you guys?

I haven't given out much experience and you are all still level 1. Is that a problem for everyone or not.

Any suggestions of good ways to help this from other games, would be appreciated. I see one game gives out xp every Monday and they are at level 3/4 in a pathfinder game.

What do you all think when this game started at Christmas and most of you will not level for a month or two at this rate?

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Mr. Wolf, I care not for the power and the glory. Being part of such a fun and witty crew is all the experience I need.

Now someone feed Marwan one of those CLW potions Najm-dammit!

We've had basically 3 encounters right? Levelling pace is fine for what we've actually done. I think we all understand that PbP moves more slowly than a "face" game.

It seems fine from my perspective.
PbP has to move slower than a face game, just by it's nature.

I'm in a PbP game that does Monday XP, and we are at level 3 in the Pathfinder module that only goes to lvl 4. So the DM is thinking that he may have to curtail the MOnday xp to keep us on track.

Also to be noted, in THAT game, the characters are already level 3, but they've been playing a little over ONE WEEK of game time! Gaining a level of prowess and or Power every 2-3 days is unreal, even in a fantasy game! But we didn't realize this until one of the players posted a timeline of the adventure for us to review. Because we started the game back in October or November, so it seems agonizingly slow sometimes!

So no, I think your right on track. I'm sure that there will be other 'encounters' both social and combat before we catch up to the Sea Harem, Plenty of time for a group of new acquaintances to hone their skills and become a feared group of dangerous 2nd level adventurers!
:D

The game is moving great FW. We have an excellent group here, and we play well off of each other. I truly would not change a thing.

Now, by chance, if Yrar uncovers a +10 Maul of Super-Smash with Pirate Bane, he won't complain. :)

Heheh, Be careful what you wish for! (Ever read "The Misenchanted Sword"?) Lol!

French Wolf:

How far to Musushlat? Is Musaal on the way?

Can the 2 boats from Sea Harem be rigged for sailing ala an 18th century cutter? Or are they simply row boats?

Should we be thinking bigger boat for this voyage?

If I understand our current situation right,...

-We have access to 2 small boats (basically rowboats with a sail) One on this beach, and one on the other beach. If we took both, we could all sail, but I'm pretty sure they won't match a sailing ship's speed. We'll NEVER catch them that way.

-The village 'around the bend' on this island has a Dhow (Small sailing ship, will easily hold all of us) currently under the ownership of a low-level bad man. (Sounds like he's the 'big fish in the small pond' guy, He manages to control a village and now he thinks he's the Godfather.) I don't think we're supposed to feel bad about taking his boat from him. (We ask nicely first of course, then,...?)

-We know the (supposed) destination of the Sea Harem, and they are on the way. If we hurry, we can get there right after them, or maybe even at the same time, IF we hurry!

-We KNOW that there is something else going on, but we do not know what. Nebucs has dropped hints that he knows, but he aint talking. (Probably/possibly what Zerea and her new partner are actually up to!)

-Nebucs- DOn't know what to do with him. I don't want to kill him in cold blood, (tempting,...)
BUT I don't want him coming with us either! Leaving him here, with or without gear, is acceptable to me. (There is a village here, and another rowboat)
It is becoming obvious we will only be wasting our time by trying to get more out of him. I wish we could get him to talk, but I think that even if you actually started torturing him, (Again, TEMPTING, but not really in character for most of us I think), you still wouldn't get any straight answers from him. I think we're gonna have to go get more clues to figure this one out guys!

-Just FYI- For RP purposes, IF by some miracle Nebucs does come back to haunt us, Fazaam will probably take it personally. Because he just championed letting him go, and talked about second chances. If NEbucs ends up hurting anyone, Fazaam will consider it his fault.

Fun RP everybody! Great job! :)

But if we're done 'bobbing for truth' from Nebucs, Fazaam is beginning to look decidedly impatient,... ;P

The 2 boats hold four men or six at a squeeze. They have two oars and a sail.

The crew have headed into the jungle to the boat which is nearest Musaal.

Ragadolf has covered pretty much everything in a nice neat package.

In answer to the other question you could use the small boats and travel round the coast but it will take time and any weather/swell or the like (did I forget sea monsters?) would be serious.

Musushlat is to the north of Musaal around the coast. At some point in the next week I hope to provide a map of Vinggor and the islands around it.

I have a feeling that Nebucs might be a reoccuring villain. And I hope he is. Yrar really isn't into killing anyone in cold blood, at least not in his present day state of mind, but if the little shit ever has the balls to fight, Yrar will smash and then smile.

Nice summation Rags. Thanks!

Must, not, drink, coke, when reading, this thread,...

ROFLMAO!

TheOcho: Ghari may be able to detect magic, but won't think of it without a a PC bringing it up in general. If a PC asks if ant of this stuff is magical Ghari'll get a clue.

The Exchange

Other than potions being taken I don't think anyone even paid any attention to the gear. If nothing else it could have been sold at the next village to help fund our journey. If someone took any of the gear post here and maybe we can get detect magic cast on it. Either way it would have been nice to sell.

Male to Charles, my favorite pizza shop Dork 10, Husband 5, Paizonite 5, Accountant 0, Self-Entertainer 12

From a RP standpoint, Yrar was involved with Nebucs, then his focus was the boat and saving the girl. The gear would not have caught his attention, and he would not have thought of selling it in civilized lands. Now if Yrar is asked to carry some items for a bit, he might oblige.

The Exchange

I have noticed that the roleplay, is great the party works a treat, but gathering treasure and adding it to your alias sheets is not so good in general.

Its early days but you may want to elect a treasure guy to keep an accurate record of what you find and make sure it all gets divvied up to people.

It's up to you.

Unless someone objects, I will volunteer to do this OOC, and when appropriate, IC.

Let me know any thoughts.

Well thoughts pertaining to a treasure guy. :)

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

I second Utak! Yay Yrar!

All in favor of Utak as treasure guy, "Aye."

All opposed, .....

Part of the problem has been lack of treasure interest IC. There's the early treasure opportunities were largely tied to Fudrick, so we couldn't loot them bare . Nebucs was a serious distraction from pillaging the corpses of the vanquished. For IC reasons, Ghari was willing to leave the silks behind, taking only a swatch as a sample for bargaining.

Although its true, I may not have added the sack with monkey-spit bread and some blankets borrowed from Fudrick's cousin's camp to my sheet. Maybe I did. I'm sure if a quicked cool +3 scimitar had showed up I would have added it.

The Exchange

Utak, thanks for taking the lead on that. Mr. Wolf thanks for mentioning it.

I Third UTAK! YAY UTAK!!!

Yah, I don't usually have a problem in RL games keeping track of my personal treasure, but I've NEVER been elected party treasurer. Either my math sucks too much, or I was just too lazy to do it properly.

AT least in THIS format I can claim that I barely have time to skim the posts sometimes, much less have time to update my PC sheet! :)

Thank you for pointing that out mr DM, and thanks for the Role playing complements! (I personally theorize that we were just so involved with the RP and trying to keep the story going we just kinda skipped the customary strip-the-dead-body portion of the program.)

Spoiler:
In answer to your question, you could hug the coast either on foot or by sailboat. It would be much slower than a dhow. The coastline can vary, it is not one long beach so the journey would be a mix of of beaches, jungles and rivers. Possibly the odd marsh.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Wibbles wobble but they don't fall down?

FW: Musaal is Ghari's home town? I think I spelled it wrong in my background. IF it is:

1. has Ghari heard anything like Faroun's rant?

2. And just how big is Musaal? Aren't Fazaam and Ghari known there?

The Exchange

Originally I didn't want anyone from the village.

Shulim was the only one who even stopped there before heading to the island.

Garyn/Ghari shouldn't come from this village. My mistake for not reading your profile more closely.

I would prefer you to come from another village or port town on Vinggor. Apologies again for messing you about.

It could be Bidikah, the capital, or invent a name for another on either the north or south coasts. Feel free to make one up.

No sweat, he's from Mussal. A much smaller, poorer town on the north coast. Just sounds similar. Can't remember where I got that, maybe from Sully? Anyway its easy to fix.

Thanks TT. I agree that you probably got it from him, because he never really played I didn't check his sheet.
