Quince yelps as he sees the cauldron moving. Holding his fingers together, he spreads them out in a fan, and a blast of lightning shoots from his fingertips. Burning hands (lightning damage) (3d4=4)
Initiative (1d20+4=22)
Hoping his lightning will at least delay the animated cauldron, Quince runs outside and hurriedly casts mage armor on himself.

Finally the internet has allowed me to post...
Surprise Round
Coralee, Fjyndel and Quince notice the cauldron coming to life. Fjyndel and Coralee hurry out of the hut. Quince signs arcane gestures in the air and a sheet of blue-white lightning melts portions of the animated cauldron.
Quirk, Rolly and Drint turn in time to see the commotion insider the hut.

Rolly 15
Drint 11
Fjyndel 7

Cauldron 4
Quince follows Coralee and Fjyndel outside. A coat of mystical energy now covering his torso.
Quirk sees the chaos erupting (i.e. the first round)... gulps loudly as his heart stops for a moment grits his teeth and flies into the fracas...
(i.e. second round will see Quirk enter the fray)
“What the ...?" Rolly says as he is momentarily taken aback by the attack, but recovers and smashes the cauldron with a mighty blow from his axe. A dent can be seen on the front of the cauldron.
Drint, Fjyndel and Coralee can still post their attack actions, if any. Tomorrow I end round 1.
Meanwhile, Drint draws his spear, but seems uncertain as to what to do. He takes a step back.
Coralee Starscryer
Coralee turns to see Rolly whack the Cauldron with a resounding clang. Arcane syllables spill from her mouth as she attempts to help him out.
Magic Missile. (1d4+1=5) Magic Missile says it doesn't damage objercts, but I am assuming that this is aConstruct and therefore doesn't count as an object? **Crosses fingers and hopes she didn't waste a spell**

End of Round 1
Fjyndel, Grendel and Drint hurry away from the animated cauldron. Coralee, on the other hand, launches an arcane bolt which hits the cauldron but fails to stop it.
The lip of the cauldron bites down on Rolly. 7 Points of damage. It then attempts to draw Rolly in.
Grapple Time
If Rolly rolls below 16
Post Round Two Actions.

Seeing Rolly in trouble Coralee rushes towards him, drawing her Light Mace as she does so and swinging at the side of the Cauldron.
Attack Roll with Light Mace. (1d20+2=22)
Light Mace Damage. (1d4=3)
Constructs (which I'm assuming this is) can't be Critted right? What a damn waste of a 20!
"Watch out Rolly McGolly. It's gonna get you. I... I actually think it's trying to eat you!"

Quince Darkivy
Not wanting to hit Rolly, Quince hopes his unerring magic missiles will impact only the cauldron and not the dwarf. He sends a pair of bolts across the clearing, then retreats to the edge of the clearing, hopefully far enough away to be safe from the cauldron's attacks.
Magic Missile damage (1d4+1=5, 1d4+1=2)
Move to edge of clearing.
Quirk
Quirk buzzes into the fray keeping to the rafters of the hut screaming at the top his lung "Get OUT, you oafs! Haven't i told you that this place is cursed?" grabbing all sorts of jars and peppering the cauldron with glassy distractions....

If Rolly's the last one in the hut, as soon as he gets free of the cauldron's "bite", he will withdraw outside; otherwise, he waits for anyone left inside to get out before he leaves.
You have already escaped the Cauldron's bite and you are the only one in melee range with the Cauldron.

Quince I assume that after firing off your magic missile you also join in the general flight away from the hut.
Everyone rushes out of the clearing. The last one to leave is Drint. The Cauldron does not follow you. You see it lumber back to the hut, perhaps, to continue its lonely vigil for its now absent mistress.
Three days of hard travel through the forest brings you to the mountains and the ruins of an old monastery. Made of simple stone blocks, worn smooth by time, the stout building is falling apart. Sections of the slanted slate roof have collapsed and portions of the outer wall have crumbled. Weeds and wild thorn plants run rampant across the field leading to the place, leaving only the slightest indication of a path that ends at the ruined front doors. Beyond, an overgrown yard sits in shadow.
It is dusk ....

BTW, your rations have been reduced faster than you expect.... you estimate that you only have a weeks worth.
"Rolly" Skullsplitter
Rolly stops for a moment to take in the ruins. "A shame," he says, shaking his head a bit. "Looks like it could'a been quite the building, in its day." Then he seems to come back into the present.
"But what else would you expect from Dwarven construction?" He chuckles a bit to himself. "This was where I was headed 'fore I got turned around and you all found me. So, ya think yer mushroom is in there?"
Coralee Starscryer
Coralee looks around at the building. "Wow, that thing is a mess. I thought Dwarves were s'posed to be good builders? So should we camp here tonight and start to look in the morning? I s'pose we should check the place out first though just in case there's something living in there. Ummm... Rolly McGolly how about you go in first... ummm y'know 'cause you're a Dwarf and all and it being a Dwarf building... yeah that sounds like a good idea!"
Rad:
Does Coralee know what it is and/or does yet (ie: can I look up what it does in the Module) or do I have to make an Appraise check for her to know?

For Coralee
Spoiler:It is a soulspeaker; it can be used to cast magic mouth 1/day; my version, however, makes it an intelligent item, one that is conversant in a number of topics.
Rad:
Will I have to ask it specific questions, or will it just offer up tid bits of information when it deems it necessary?

"So ya want ol' Rolly to be the canary, eh? Well, I 'spose chain will have to do fer feathers!" Rolly will laugh loudly, even if the others don't get his mining reference.
He gets a little more serious and says, "Yes, we dwarves ARE good builders. But even the mightiest dwarven fortress can't stand up to the most vile foes of all ... time and abandonment. Everything crumbles, eventually." He gives another look at the ruins. "And they may have been helped along here, too ..."

Rolly looks at the kobold for a moment, and then explodes in laughter. "And I believe ya'd be right!" He comes over and slaps Drint on the back (a little rough, but not enough to hurt). "Can't believe I'm sayin' this, but you're all right!"

Quince Darkivy
Quince somehow misses the howling of the wolves, and is somewhat taken aback when they emerge from the woods.
"Yikes!" Looking around to make sure Risk is safe, he notices Quirk flying into the air. I wish I could levitate, he wistfully thinks, then turns his attention to the task at hand, throwing a burst of light at the nearest wolf in hopes of scaring them away.
