Male Halfling Sorcerer 3

Quince wakes up well-rested and in a good mood, which quickly turns sour when he realizes Girther is gone.

He turns to his friends. "Why did he leave? Without even telling us? And alone? It doesn't look like there was a fight, or anything. But we still have more things to gather for Laurel, some kind of root - rat's tail, isn't it? Should we follow Girther, or look for the root? I think Laurel said some witch had it."

"I don't know why he left. He should have said something. Wake someone. Anything.

Yeah, rat's tail was the name. And the witches name was... Uzmilla?

Looking for him will only slow us down some more. He should not have left. It does not look like he is near, or will come back, all his belongings are gone too. I suppose? I hope nothing has happened to him, but more I want to help Laurel save Falcon's Hollow. We should go, without the dwarf. I am sorry to say that, but I have decided that way, and I think it is for the best, for the people of Falcon's Hollow." makes the Gnome his point.

Female Gnome Favoured Soul 2 Fey Bloodline Sorcerer 1

Coralee wakes up cheerily, then puts on a pout when she notices Girther gone.
"Where's Stoney? Is he out taking a leak? No, wait a minute. His stuff's gone. He doesn't need that to take a leak. Does he? Where on Golarion could he have taken off to? Oh no, maybe he has been bewitched by that Uzmilla lady? She's a witch right. We should definately head to her place next then to find the next ingredient and hopefully Stoney too. I hope she doesn't eat him. He's pretty tough though so she might not want too. I don't know why anyone would take Stoney over Quince anyway." Realizing what she just said she blushes again and heads over to sit under a tree and say her morning Prayers to Desna.

Male Kobold Rogue 3

Drint looks down. "If Usssmilla had the ability to bewitch folk, she would have done it already, before now. Girther hassss abandoned us", He says bitterly.

Dark Archive

DM Stand-In for Quirk

"Where's Girther?" Quirk asks as he hovers in place.

"What name did you just say? Uzmilla?"

Male Gnome Druid 3

"I'm with Drint on this one. If Uzmilla would have bewitched Girther, why not do that to someone else too?" he asks, before going to his prayers as well.

Male Halfling Sorcerer 3

"Right," Quince agrees with his friends. "He probably wasn't bewitched, he went off for reasons of his own. But we need to find the root and help the town. I think the name Laurel mentioned was 'Uzmilla', or something like that. Why, Quirk? Have you heard of her? Can you lead us to her hut?"

Dark Archive

<Gulp!>

"She's scary!"

"You sure you need to go to her place?"

Male Gnome Druid 3

"If you know a better place to get rat's tail, near here, or on the way, we would appreciate it. But if not, I think we have to."

Dark Archive

DM Stand-In for Quirk

<Sigh>

"I guess we have to then."

Spoiler:
Hunger and fatigue have a way of wearing down the hardiest of people and they are doing a number on you right now. The damned scholar's ill-fated remark about dwarven ruins and the treasure they contain is the reason that you are here in the forest lost, hungry and tired. And the hair at the back of your neck tells you that a predator is quietly stalking you, waiting for the moment that you let your guard down and your strength fail you.

The heavy rains these past few days have made game scarce. And you are reduced to gathering roots to keep up your strength.

Consider yourself fatigued and please post in spoilers until further notice. Post any plans you have for the day.

male You might wanna know...but I won't tell *G* More than you can shake a stick at...

"Did I tell you she's very scary? Well... when I was small... well, smaller then I am now... don't giggle... I am serious here... well, our parents always told us to be careful, when making a deal. If Ulizmila would be our bargaining partner, we might miss an eye or tongue afterwards. Scaary..."

Quirk nods solemnly as he buzzes just a bit over the ground, accompanying the others.

I'm ba-ack.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 1

Spoiler:
Rolly curses under his breath. "By the gods! Will this cursed weather never end?" He's starting to realize that continuing to walk without having any idea of where he's going will be futile. He also realizes that if something is trailing him, he'll never lose it considering his lack of stealth. So he has two goals at this stage: the primary goal is to find shelter, preferably a rock outcropping or cave where he needs only keep watch on one direction and rest. His second goal is to keep an eye on the ground for tracks of game or evidence of habitation (maybe a logging group or something). He also keeps his short bow at the ready, in case a deer happens across his path. Finally, he makes regular attempts to get his bearings - preferably back towards town at this point.

Also, every so often, he will stop and try to see if he can spot or hear anything (i.e. looking for whatever might be trailing him, game, signs of habitation like smoke, etc.)

I don't have access to invisible castle or dice at work, so I'll either have to give you Survival and Perception rolls later this evening when I get home, or you can roll them for me as needed (probably the better plan). He has Survival +5, with any modifiers due to inclement weather and such, and Perception +7.

"If that's what it takes to get the ingredients... A high price for one, mind you, but what costs would we meet not to pay it? But be thanked for the warning.

Who can lead us?"

Spoiler:
Retcon Alert: Rad, how beat up was everybody? I would assume that Coralee would have used the last of her Cure Light Wounds on people before she went to bed for the night. She has two Level 1 Spell Slots left:
Cure Light Wounds. (1d8+2=4)
Cure Light Wounds. (1d8+2=9)

If at least one isn't needed then one of her remaining Spell Slots will be used on her Dream Feast.

Dark Archive

For Coralee

Spoiler:
There was no need for the extra healing. Though you guys were very tired.

Female Gnome Favoured Soul 2 Fey Bloodline Sorcerer 1

Spoiler:
No Problem.
If you aren't aware, Dream Feast is in RotRL #2 from the article about Desna.

Dream Feast
Conjuration (Creation)
Level: Cleric 1, Druid 1, Ranger 1
Components: V, S, DF
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Touch
Target: Creature touched
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless)
Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless)
The next time the target sleeps (within 8 hours), she dreams of a rich feast with her favorite food and drink. When she awakens, she is sated as if she ate and drank a nutritious meal, regardless of what she dreamed she ate. The target must sleep for at least 1 hour to gain the benefits of this spell. Being awakened during this period interrupts the spell and cancels its effects.
If you sleep with this spell prepared, you may automatically expend it while you sleep to gain the spell’s benefit. This expenditure does not count as spellcasting for the purpose of determining available spell slots (you could go to sleep at midnight, expend this spell during an 8-hour period of sleep, and still prepare your full allotment of spells in the morning).

In case they're needed:
Survival checks and Perception checks (1d20+5=17, 1d20+7=27, 1d20+5=6, 1d20+7=14)
Survival checks are +5, Perception are +7 (Got a natural 20 on the first Perception check :-))

Male Halfling Sorcerer 3

"If it's all the same to you, I'd prefer not to trade my tongue, thank you very much," Quince says. "Some sorcerer I'd be if all I could do was mumble and drool. Now Coralee, on the other hand, probably has an extra tongue or two she could trade. I don't see how anybody could talk so much with just one tongue!" Quince smiles broadly and throws her a wink to let her know he's just joking.

"Quirk, it seems you're our best guide. Lead on then, to the witch Uzmilla! And with Desna's fortune, maybe we'll get our root without having to trade assorted and sundry body parts for it!"

Quince sets off down the path, whistling a jaunty tune in the crisp morning air.

Damn DSL is fluctuating again. On then off.

Spoiler:
Your woodcraft leads you to a bunch of edible mushrooms. They should be very tasty after a little roasting over a fire.

As you move to reach for the mushrooms, out of the corner of your eye you notice a reptilian eye peering through the bushes to your left.

Initiative!

Spoiler:
Darn work filters! They let me through to IC once, but haven't since then. As soon as I get home tonight, I'll roll and let you know what I want to do.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 1

Radavel

Spoiler:
Initiative (1d20=7)
Not sure how far away this eye is, so here are Rolly's possible actions:
1. If, by some miracle, I won initiative, Rolly will either grab his bow (if the "eye" is more than 30' away; I assumed I put the bow down when reaching for the mushrooms) or his greataxe (if closer than 30'). Then he will ready a std action to attack if attacked first. He yells in Common
"Show yerself! Who are ya and why are ya followin' me?"
2. If he loses initiative, then his response is based on the actions of the "eye":
- if it talks to him, he's willing to parlay and doesn't draw any weapons (although his spiked gauntlets are always on and he can use those, if necessary)
- if it charges him to engage in melee, Rolly draws his greataxe and enters melee (taking a move action to close the distance, if needed)
- if it attacks him at range, Rolly draws his axe and uses a move action to get close and attack, or a full action to close the distance if necessary
- if it runs, he picks up his bow and gives chase, but doesn't fire unless shot at first.
"Stop! Who are ya? Why are ya followin' me? I just wanna talk!" he yells ... and beat the snot out of ya, he thinks quietly.
Attack rolls and damage, if needed:
Greataxe attack and damage rolls (includes Overhand Chop, but not using Power Attack) (1d20+5=14, 1d12+4=14)
Shortbow attack and damage (1d20+3=15, 1d6=3)

Female Gnome Favoured Soul 2 Fey Bloodline Sorcerer 1

Coralee looks at Quince with her eyebrows raised, putting her fingers in her mouth and feeling around while trying to say, "o, ee. ony un ung in ere." With that done she pokes out her tongue at Quince and gives him a big grin.
Finishing packing her the last of her things onto Monarch, she follows him off to find Uzmilla.

Spoiler:
Quirk picks a path cutting across the forest. You are making good time despite the muddy ground. By midday, the evaporation of the rain water is slowly making you perspire.

For Everyone Except Skullsplitter Perception DC 15

Spoiler:
You notice tracks across the muddy ground. The prints have been made by the same type of boots preferred by dwarves. Girther? You think.

Male Kobold Rogue 3

Failed Perception check.

Male Gnome Druid 3

Perception (sight) (1d20 3=5)
Fjyndel failed
Perception (1d20 7=22)
Grendel noticed the tracks

While walking, following the lead of Quirk, Grendel at some time barks, then puts his nose down, to sniff.
"What is it Grendel? You found something? Now look here."
Survival to identify tracks (1d20 12=28)
"Whatever made those tracks wore boots like a dwarf. Could it have been Girther? Why would he have been here?"

Spoiler:
In his fatigued state, Rolly's first instinct is to defend himself from something that looks awfully dangerous. Not having ever seen anything like it, he grabs his greataxe and swings at it.

"By Our Lord in Iron! What is that thing?" he exclaims.

You can use the attack roll in my previous post for the greataxe, if you like. Since I'm again at work, I have no access to IC.

A scream: "YEEARRGGH!! You cursed, overgrown garter snake! Let go!" can be heard from Northeast. You just that you are a few hundred feet away. You can reach it easily if you run.

Male Gnome Druid 3

"What is that now..." asks Fjyndel as he jumps on Grendels back, readying his club and let's the dog stride out fast.

Female Gnome Favoured Soul 2 Fey Bloodline Sorcerer 1

"What in the... that sounds like it could be someone in trouble. Maybe we should go and help them. It sounds like it came from over there," she points in totally the wrong direction, then sees Fjyndel jump on Grendel and race off in the other direction. "Or over there even. We should probably hurry too, 'cause there can be some nastty things around here. Pluss we saw all of those footprints around and we still don't know where the Scythe Lady went. Then there's also the fact that..." She trails off as she realizes that everyone has already rushed off after Fjyndel and that she is standing alone talking to Monarch. She glances around quickly and then urges him to follow her at a faster pace than he would normally like.

Rad:

Spoiler:

I was thinking that given her little speech and the fact that Monarch is being stubborn, she will arrive 1 round after everybody else.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 1

Spoiler:
Assuming Rolly was able to break his arm free, Rolly will re-grip his axe and attack again when his turn comes round.
Attack w/ Greataxe (1d20+5=25) Woohoo!! natural 20!
Greataxe damage & Critical Confirmation (1d12+4=9, 1d20+5=22) IC seems to be being nice to me tonight! Don't know for sure if that's a crit confirmation, but a nice roll, regardless.
"Gorum be praised! That's what ya get for takin' a taste of ol' Rolly, dragon-bait!" he exclaims.

If Rolly wasn't able to break his arm free, then he'll attack with his spiked gauntlet on his turn instead.
Spiked gauntlet attack and damage (1d20+5=17, 1d4+2=5)

Male Halfling Sorcerer 3

"I'm beginning to feel distinctly disliked in this forest," Quince says to no one in particular. "It almost makes me want to go back to Riddleport." He draws a dagger and hurries after Fjyndel and Grendel, wishing he had a big animal to ride, too.

Spoiler:
Yes, sir! Extra damage from critical hit (1d12+5=7, 1d12+5=6) (After I rolled, I realized I added +5 to the roll, when it should have been +4; so subtract two points) Total: 9 + 6 + 5 = 20

Rolly simply continues what he knows - chopping at the lizard with his axe, all the while shouting curses and insults at the thing. If he at any time becomes unable to use both hands, he switches to his spiked gauntlets. The attack roll is the same; only the damage would have to be changed.

Round 1: Attack, damage (1d20+5=12, 1d12+4=6)

Round 2: Attack, damage (1d20+5=22, 1d12+4=10)

Uggh! Looks like IC is making up for that natural 20 with some really bad rolls ...

Somehow your blow hit a major artery and you are now drenched in the creature's foul stinking blood. The creature sensing that it will meet its death if it continues its little dance with you starts to flee. You slash again but the creature manages to dodge your blow.
Awesome persuasive skills!

For the rest of the group

Spoiler:
Before you is a dwarf holding a bloody axe. His victim, nowhere to be seen. Guys you may want to give a brief description of your character at this point.

For Skullsplitter

Spoiler:
You hear the thundering footfalls of a number of creatures. You look in the direction of the sound and you see: a gnome, a halfling, a flying creature whose species currently evades your ken and... a kobold? You may want to describe your character for the benefit of the crowd.

Male Kobold Rogue 3

"What isss going on here?", Drint asks, frowning at the dwarf.
Drint is small, even for a kobold. He has copper-red scales, and snakelike eyes.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 1

Rolly is a dwarf of average height (a little over 4') but very broad, even for a dwarf. He has a shaved-bald head with a jet black, short beard (for a dwarf) and a matching mustache that seems to be as long as his beard. He is currently dressed in blood-covered chain mail, spiked gauntlests, and wields a blood-soaked greataxe. His right arm is wounded, as if from a bite or sharp claw. He doesn't smell too good right now, either.

Skullsplitter sees the group approach, especially noticing the kobold. He brandishes his greataxe threatingly and says, "Ho! Looking fer yer pet, are ya? Well, ol' Rolly's not so easy a target! I suggest ya back off an' look for another mark; if ya hurry, yer overgrown gecko might still be alive."

Male Halfling Sorcerer 3

"Hold, sir!" Quince calls out with a friendly smile. "All of our pets are with us, but we did misplace a dwarf. Any chance you might have met him?"

Quince is a bit on the short side for a halfling, with tan skin, green eyes, and long black hair queued in a ponytail. He's wearing a leather vest over a blue shirt, bright red leggings, and worn leather traveling boots. Bandoliers bristling with daggers crisscross his chest. A small fox with bright red tufts of fur around its feet is twined between the halfling's bare feet.

Male Gnome Druid 3

Two gnomes! One male, one female!

The male gnome is rather huge in comparison to other gnomes. His skin would be pale, if it wasn't darkened from sun exposure over the last years. His haircolor is odd as well, being mostly dark brown with a blue cast in it. He wears a studded leather armor under his traveler outfit, which seems to make him more corpulent than he really is. Most of his equipment is mounted on his dog, Grendel, on which he is currently riding.

Fjyndel stops Grendels approach to the dwarf, then jumping down from Grendel. He puts away his shield and club, saying: "You look badly hurt. If you want, I can bandage you up, or Coralee might want to heal you somewhat.
And I hope you took good care of that gecko, that it won't come after us later..."

Two gnomes! One male, one female!

Actually Coralee's a round behind you guys, she stopped for a bit of a monologue before she realized you were gone. Then she had to get a fire lit under Monarch's arse to get him to hurry. =D

Coralee comes upon the rest of you after a short while, puffing and pulling on the reins of a Monarch. She stops suddenly as she sees you all looking at her and as her eyes move from Quince to Drint to Quince, to Quirk, to Quince, to Rolly, to Quince, to Drint, to... wait a minute... her eyes dart quickly back to Rolly's blood soaked appearance and the apparently calm manner that the others have around him.
"You're not Stoney," she says with a puzzled look on her face. "Are you friends with Stoney? 'Cause if you're friends with Stoney then you're friends with us. He was a surly old thing, but he watched out for us. He's disappeared you now. Went to bed and there he was, woke up and he was gone. I think it has something to do with the Scythe Woman, but the others don't think so. What happened to your armour? It's looking a little, er... messy. Are you hurt? I can probably ask Desna to heal you if you want me to. She'd love to help out any friend of Stoney's I'm sure. I'm Coralee by the way and this is Monarch." She jerks her thumb behind her at the Pony. "Do you have a name? Maybe I should just call you Stoney as well. That would be funny huh? So Stoney, would you like me to take a look at you and see if you need some healing? No trouble. What, What are you all looking at me like that for?" She turns to Monarch. "Is Monarch eating my hair again. I've told you about that boy. I know it tastes nice but it's not for you. There are plenty of leaves and grass around." He gives a short whicker. "I know they are a bit bland, but they're better for you than my hair, not to mention better for me." The others are used to it by now, but Rolly is dumbfounded that anyone could say so much so fast without seeming to pause to catch a breath.
She heads over to where Rolly is standing and extends her hand to him in a shaking gesture. "Pleased to meet you!"

Coralee is an attractive (in a cute way) Gnome with bright Orange (for the moment) shoulder length hair that is currently in pigtails. As you may have noticed she is a bit of a rambler. You'll get used to it... eventually. She is wearing a short blue skirt and white blouse and has a large silver Butterfly on a chain around her neck.
She is leading Monarch, who is a slightly lazy Pony whom Coralle occasionally rides, but is mostly to carry he belongings and for companionship (she can often be seen conversing with him at great length while walking along).

Male Dwarf Barbarian 1

Rolly's grip on his axe relaxes ... but just a little. "My name's Havraal Skullsplitter, but most folks call me Rolly. You'll excuse me, I hope, if I don't shake hands just yet. I've been out here in the wilderness for nearly a week now; m' food ran out, and I haven't so much as seen a hare run by, let alone any other dwarves.

"Now, just a few moments ago, I'm trying to scrounge up some more grub, when this lizard/dragon-thing jumps out of the brush and latches onta my arm. I gave him a good whack with my pal here," Rolly indicates his axe, "and it takes off with it's tail 'tween it's legs. Not more'n a few moments later, ya comes chargin' outta the same brush ... with a kobold, no less! So, maybe ya can understand why I'm a little nervous.

"But at the same time, I've never seen a group of bandits that looked quite like you guys do. And it seems a long ways off the beaten path for highwaymen. So how's about you tell me who ya are and why in the world you're out here in this gods-forsaken wilderness? And tell me how two gnomes and a kobold ended up as traveling companions?"

Rolly lowers his axe a bit more; he is suspicious, but he's obviously not up to full strength. He really hopes these folks are friends and not enemies. After even a remotely reasonable story/introduction, Rolly will be happy (and thankful) to take up Coralee or Fjyndel on their offer of healing.

Female Gnome Favoured Soul 2 Fey Bloodline Sorcerer 1

"That's just Drint. He's OK," she hold her hand up to whisper to Rolly, but it's a whisper that everyone can hear, "for a Kobold". She turns and winks at Drint and gives him a big smile.
"These guys met him back in Falcon's Hollow and I was a bit suspicious of him when we first met as well, but he's been a good companion over te course of our quest, so I trust him. Ooo, Ooo, you should help us with our quest. We are trying to help Laurel cure this terrible disease that's afflicting Falcon's Hollow. We have to collect these ingredients from around the forest. We already have some moss, now we're on our way to visit the Witch Uzmilla."
"Now let's see about fixing up that arm of yours shall we." She takes Rolly's arm and calls upon Desna's Blessing.
Cure Light Wounds on Rolly. (1d8+2=4)

Male Gnome Druid 3

Hearing that the dwarf ran out of food, Fjyndel goes back to Grendel, taking one of his own rations and brings them to Rolly. "Here, eat a bit. I don't have too much either, but we all can share some. And we might find some berries around. I know what to look for. My Name is Fjyndel by the way. The Kobold is Drint, and yeah, he is okay. We trust him by now, and you will get to know him, if you are willing to help us.

Coralee told you our story, so, what is yours?"

Male Halfling Sorcerer 3

Quince makes a small bow. "Quince Darkivy, at your service." He indicated the fox at his feet. "And this is Risk. A pleasure to meet you, Rolly."

Male Dwarf Barbarian 1

Rolly begins relaxing a bit. "Well, I thank ya for the food and the spell. My story? Not much to it, really. I'm a mercenary/man-at-arms by trade. I came into Falcon's Hollow as a caravan guard, but since that was the last stop, I went looking for something else. Didn't care fer the town much, I can tell you. So when I heard about the dwarven ruins around here, and the possibility of some nice stuff left behind, I thought it was right up my alley.

"What I didn't count on, was all this weird weather. Now, I'm not a babe in the woods, mind ya ... I generally know what I'm doing. But I admit, it was after a few days that I knew I wasn't where I thought I was. Since then, I've just been tryin' to get my bearings back to Falcon's Hollow. The fact that I ain't seen any game has just made things harder; I swear if I eat one more mushroom or root ...

"Anyway, that's what I was doin' when that dragon-thing came after me; those mushrooms over there are edible," Rolly points to the clump in question, "and when I bent down to pick 'em, I noticed a lizard eye starin' at me. The rest I already told ya.

"So what's this 'quest' ya were talkin' about? I guess I'm not really in any sort of shape to turn down travelin' companions, so long as ya don't mind a dirty and," Rolly gives himself a quick sniff, "smelly dwarf tagging along. Sounds like ya mighta had one before, anyway, huh?"

Rolly breaks out into a big grin, then a sudden realization hits him, and he bursts out laughing. "Ya know, I think this is the first time in my life I was the tallest one in the 'room'!!"
