The Chelaxian Devil Binder wants to buy a house in Sandpoint where he can set up an alchemist lab. I am gathering from the description of the Mercantile Guild that property is individually owned and is not granted by the Guild in Fuedal fashion, although you have to have their permissin to purchase (although I may be misreading this.)
I had the goblin commando eat that citizen, and his family is moving to Magnimar, so that house should be available.
Any thoughts on how much I should have him pay for the house? Maybe I should make him rent.....

Whenever I run into a situation where I need a "price" on the spot, I usually fall back on the B.U.C. system (Basic Universal Currency). I basically say 1sp is equal to 1 U.S. Dollar, then price accordingly. This is FAR from perfect, but in a pinch is usually ok.
So, for a 3-bedroom, 2 bath with garage (barn) in a hicksville little town on the coast: Probably anywhere from 100,000sp-300,000sp depending (location location location), that equates to 10,000-30,000gp. Less if its a bit run-down, more if its bigger, etc.
Hope that helps.

Check page 101 of the DMG. It lists basic prices for buildings. According to this table a simple house would be 1000gp and a grand house would be 5000gp. I'm guessing that this house would fall between those two so would cost 2500gp-3000gp.
Unfortunetly this table seems as screwed up as the rest of the D&D economics but it should work. If you want to make it a little more resonable (in my opinion at least) you could half the prices, since a family of commoners probably wouldn't be able to pay 1000gp for a simple house. Even if this assumes that most commoners would build their own homes, the cost of materiels would be prohibitively high when you consider the rest of the economic system presented in D&D.
Those are just my opinions and they very well may be wrong, as I am no economist nor do I have any expierience with the real estate market even in the modern world.
Sorry I rambled, I hope this helps.
