*Sigh*
...
...this thread has built up an immunity to thread-jacking, hasn't it?
Just have to try harder.
Okay, yes, Thundarr was pretty frikkin' sweet.
Voltron, though, I wouldn't even put in my top 40 favorite anime, much less my top 40 favorite animation shows period. So I'm going to have to disagree with you there. :)
Oh, and: smurf.
MIke, what would your top 40 be?

Oh lord, that would take a while to compose. I'll put up my top 10 favorites, though, behind the following spoiler button (to spare everyone not interested). (Also note that these are my favorites, not necessarily what I consider the best artistically.)

9. Witch Hunter Robin
8. Chrono Crusade
7. Cardcaptor Sakura
6. Neon Genesis Evangelion (which I consider the best, but not my favorite)
5. Princess Mononoke

3. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
2. Azumanga Daioh
1. Gunslinger Girl
Other shows that would make the list, in alphabetical order.

It was a lot of fun as a kid. It's kind of silly now. I also really liked Thundercats (er... Thundersmurfs). The animation was way ahead of its time -- but the stories were weak at best. (And that was during the era of "too much violence in cartoons" so every episode had a moral to the story.)
My wife and I have actually been rather impressed with the D&D cartoon recently. For a 20 minute kids cartoon, the writing was actually really good.

Did the Wonder Twins get killed off in Crisis on Infinite Earths or something? I haven't seen them around.
They never got that 80's/90's gritty revamp treatment.
There was an episode of Justice League vs. the Legion of Doom where they smashed through a statue of the wonder twins.
"Wondersmurf powers activate"
"Form of something useless"
"Shape of something worthless"
Where's vomit guy?

What's your top 96? Just kidding...
Bullwinkle and Bugs Bunny are teh roxxors, but only Bugs Bunny made before 1960.
Voltron makes my top 96, I'm sure. But maybe not. I'll let you know in a few more years, once I've seen more shows.
And yeah, Bullwinkle and pre-60s BB are great! :)
