Hey folks, just letting you know I'm sick, but that I'll be posting somewhere in the next 2 hours (I hope).
That sucks. I hope you get well soon.
Rags, there is a good time to get sick; just before a family gathering with cousins who you don't have much in common and who think that your hobby is of the devil (sadly I'm not exaggerating).Ragadolf |

Ouch!
Yeah, although I'm selfish enough that I would wish that THEY got sick instead!Wow, and i thought that MY mom was tough! (She still thinks it's wrong after all this time, but she never went THAt far). Good luck with your holidays! ;)

@Santinj-From earlier, just what job are you looking into at OU? Just curious. :D
OSU, or Oregon State University. It's a position in the student health services depatment as a substance abuse prevention coordinator. You know, essentially training RAs and other staff people about signs and symptoms of abuse, coordinating interventions, that kind of thing. It'd be a good step-up for me in the prevention field, but the commute from Eugene to Corvallis would be a drag every day (45 minutes, no biggie for an ex-Californian, but for an Oregonian that's a travesty).

AH, I see.
OSU is also Oklahoma State University, hence the confusion.Good luck all the same! :D

That sounds like something they could use more of.
Though when I was a freshman, the only things our RA had to intervene in were some clowns trying to shell the Admin building 300 yards away with a potato gun from a sixth-floor balcony and a guy practicing his shuriken tossing by throwing them from the back of his room out the open door, and into the door across the hall.
Fortunately, he (the RA) never caught on to the fact that whenever the guy across from me was "taking his suit to the cleaners" he was in fact taking a Russian SKS 7.62mm rifle and more than 1,000 rounds of steel core ammunition up into the hills to shread CMU blocks...
Come to think of it, the RA might have preferred it if we were a bunch of drunks. :)
Ragadolf |
Oh. My. Gosh.
The only thing our RA had to worry about was the guy on our floor who tried to 'cook' a batch of homemade smoke bomb. And it went off. WHILE he was cooking it. IN the dorm room. So he tossed it out into the hallway where it cooked away about half a dozen floor tiles before the fire dept. arrived.
Oh. Wait. That WAS the RA! nevermind! :P
I originally logged in to warn everyone, I'll be checking in tonight as usual, but tomorrow, and possibly Thursday as well, I'll be very busy at work. So you'll have to survive without Slidell's over-verbosive responses for a day or two.
Now, Now, I know your all broken up about this,... :P
See you all soon! (I hope!)
JSL |
So is everyone off to discuss amongst themselves? That's fine.
If you stay in the room you are in, you can probably persuade a servant to get you a bottle of wine or something. Otherwise, if you go to the common room, be prepared to attract the notice of the commonfolk gathered there.
I'll leave it to you to roleplay as you like because your discussion is probably more important than the vintage of wine or whatnot that I would have to contribute...
Ragadolf |
Woo-Hoo! XP! XP! XP!
(A-hem! I meant, Thank you @JSL.)
By the by, I've almost done with updating Sli, I just found the reference that his STARTING spells in his spellbook should include bonus spells for his Intelligence! (Wouldn't really have affected anything as he would have chosen the originals as what he had memorized.) So I'm adding those tomorrow. Too tired now.
Happy travel day @Santinj!

Oh crap, I've just re-read Slidell's post and realised that I completely mis-interpreted the meaning of Slidell's bit about the 'making a few friends' - I thought it was directed to Ehlissa, rather than Corran. Sorry!
Ahhhh well, people misunderstand things in real life; especially when placed in stressful situations with new people, so I suppose we can still work this in as Ehlissa getting the wrong end of the stick... just like her player did. Whoops! *embarrased*

No worries, I liked it!
And the beauty of Slidell is that he is so easy, (and so much fun, ) to misunderstand!I just re-edited my post 3 times due to your follow up, I don't want to dig to deeply into it in the middle of a graveyard, but I liked the little you let "slip" about her background. Once Slidell has processed that bit of info, you MAY find yourself on the receiving end of his 'helpful' intentions!
Which may ,... or may NOT,... be a good thing! :D

Happy travel day @Santinj!
Thanks, got back to Eugene last night/early this morning. Going through re-entry at work is the pits.
Anywho, I hope Talion and PsiFox are okay. Didn't one or the other mention being sick? Haven't seen a post in the GT in a while and was wondering if they're okay.
Good to be back on my own laptop/home computer; I'll actually have the time to read posts more carefully before posting myself. No more talking to characters who've left building!

I think Psifox said he was sick. Hopefully he'll be on his feet again soon.
Fabes, now I'm really curious about Ehlissa's past. You're doing some fun stuff with her.santinj@ |
I'll be on the road for much of tomorrow. Won't be able to post until the afternoon/evening.
I'm back. Anybody heard from PsiFox recently? Naelah's been quiet, and in re-reading 'her' posts from when we first started, I have to say I miss what they added to the group. There was a certain poetry to PsiFox's writing, ya know?
Ragadolf |
JSL wrote:I'll be in meetings all day...That phrase describes one of my worst nightmares.
Close, 'meeting' used to be my nightmare word, but it since been replaced,...
by INVENTORY! (shudder!)
BTW, Psifox, are ya still there? your last post said you were sick, is everything alright? I think the above posts have made it clear that we miss Neahlah! Hope all is well,...

I am not going to be able to post tonight afterall. I just read my email and there is something that needs prompt attention. And it is already 11PM.
I will try tomorrow AM.
Sorry for the inconvenience and sorry that things have dragged on so much. In addition to the usual holiday craziness, I am also dealing with problems at my son's school and the State of California is adopting a new building code next year, so I have to deal with that at work - both adapting to the new code and dealing with clients trying to sneak in under the wire on the old code.
Ragadolf |
Those crazy wire-sneakers!
Good luck @JSL, All is craziness right now, and that's withOUT any state trying to change stuff on you!
(I like to call it, 'co-operative chaos!', Sometimes that's the best you can hope for!)
All I know is, I am enjoying this game immensely, and I am enjoying the 'company' of all involved. You take care of business, we'll be right here when you get back.
In case the craziness gets out of control,....
Merry Christmas! "And God bless us, everyone!"
:D

Ok. Got it done. Here is my schedule for the next week:
Dec 20-21st should be able to post
Dec 22 travel day - post late, maybe (will be staying in Eugene, if we make it that far)
Dec 23-25 travel and Grandma's house (no internet, family stuff)
Dec 26-29 in-laws, lots of internet except during Emerald Bowl (what a stupid bowl to get sent to)
Dec 30 travel day
Dec 31-Jan 1 off work and nothing better to do
Jan 2 - back to work and hopefully calmer
On a metagame note, we are still in a pretty unstructured part of the adventure. By design the intent is to meet and greet the town, take care of business, enjoy being the heroes, and maybe solve a mystery or two. I have opted to not run combat encounters because of scheduling concerns. Given everyone's Christmas/New Years schedules and stuff, I think the structure of combat would bog us down even more. And I don't want to leave people hanging over the holiday with 1 hp and 4 goblins bearing down on them...
I expect this part to wrap up by January 7th at the latest. Then I hope to launch into an all-out brawl to get everyone's blood pumping and dice shaking again.
santinj@ |
JSL: Glad to hear that you've unburied yourself from work. Enjoy the days off! And, enjoy Eugene (if only for one day)! It'll be strange to have one of the virtual family in the same town. Safe travels!
I'll be at work pretty much every weekday for the next couple weeks except Christmas and Christmas Eve. And, though I'll be at work, it's going to be awfully quiet, so post away!
Also, I suppose at some point that I'll put out a shout-out to Psionic Fox on the other forum. I hope he comes back to us. Naelah is missed!
Lastly, shall we add 100xp for this week (Dec. 17th) if we haven't already?

Sounds like a plan to me!
BTW, If While your in Eugene you make it by the Tulsa Area, let me know. I'll be visiting family after Christmas. Might be nice to put a face to a name!
Until then here's to enjoying hero-dom!
Merry Christmas Everybody!
FabesMinis |
I start my new job on January 7th!
And... will not have internet access... :(
Well, I suppose I might do at work but I have no idea if I have a shared computer or not. And, it's the most high-powered job I've ever had so I don't want to screw it up by being discovered PbPing. Then again that's never stopped me before!
I'll check to see if there's a library in town, as I'll be staying at a B and B to begin with and then my gf is staying for 2 weeks from 10th (yes, and I won't have my own house until probably 14th! Yahoo!)
I shall let you all know nearer the time that I will prob not be online for quite a while. :(
If that should be the case, then can I entrust Ehlissa to someone?
(Blimey, that was verging on Rags style for length!) ;)
Arctaris |
Glad to here that you're not under as much pressure, JSL.
Congrats on the new job, Fabes! I hope it treats you well and leads you to interesting (and good) places. I'm sure that we can run Ehlissa for a while.
I should be able to post consistently throughout the holidays.
Merry Christmas, Happy Solsice, or Happy whatever you happen to celebrate.

We'll probably only be there overnight and then be off to points farther north as soon as we get up on Sunday. It works out to be a convenient place to stop - about as much driving as the kids can stand and, provided good weather, we'll get there right about dinner time.
Lastly, shall we add 100xp for this week (Dec. 17th) if we haven't already?
yes. and also for the 24th, when that rolls around.

It's a small theatre in North Yorkshire and the job description runs to two sides of paper haha
Basically I will be in charge of the Youth Theatre, workshops with schools, liaison with community groups, writing educational material for the theatre, providing workshops in conjunction with visiting companies, subbing for the Duty Manager when required, creating strategies to get people from isolated rural communities to the theatre, securing funding for the post beyond its current 2 year lifespan etc etc
It's quite daunting!
But enough of that...
What is our XP total now?
;D
santinj@ |
...securing funding for the post beyond its current 2 year lifespan etc etc
That sounds just like my field (substance abuse prevention)! I look for new jobs every three years when the grant money runs out! Sounds like a very cool position. Again, congrats! New jobs are like new girlfriends--great fun until you get to know them. Did I say that out loud? I'm joking!! Congrats!
Also, I've had a question about your screen-name but I keep forgetting to ask. The "Minis" part of FabesMinis, anything to do with making/painting/collecting D&D miniatures? I'm interested in painting metal ones--it reminds me of fly tying, and I think it's the kind of thing I could get into in my "old age."
