For Dragonmann:
** spoiler omitted **
Getting 7 feats worked great when there were 100 or so in the PHB, now there are over 2000 and it seems a bit harsh

In regards to the prestige class, my thoughts are leaning towards a very martial/magic tradition of a semi nomadic people. Probably stiff requirements to get in, but improving magic, improving combat abilities, and probably a bunch of skills.
I am deciding if I want the two factions to have seperate PrC, or if they mush together.

Hi folks
I have been mulling over the make up of the party and before my character joins the main bunch I was wondering whether I should change her.
I'd like to think this pbp will last and so I'd rather bring this up now just so could I get everyone else's opinion.
We have in the party;
1) cleric of fharlanghn - Shepherd Veirax
2) knight of same - Memnon Varial
3) druid plus wolf - Aradove Dawntracker plus Ethelwulf
4) beguiler (rogue/illusionist/enchanter) - Lady Janas
5) warmage (fighter/mage) - Dardin
6) rogue - Ava
7) spellthief - Dinpel Jannipack
8) ranger - Erian El'ranelen
Out of combat we are fine, my Cha 14 beguiler is one of the lowest in the party so for a pbp our interpersonal skills are terrific. We probably have all the main skills in spades, heal?. And opening doors should be happening every time.
In combat though..... Maybe we are fine as is, or maybe we should think about one or two PC's multi-classing into a warrior class? or I could roll up a katu cleric of kord or barbarian, for instance?
If we met undead, it's pretty much up to the cleric, knight and warmage to protect the rest of us. Personally my gal will be legging it out the door at the first sight of a ghoul. Of course, Utak wouldn't put loads of undead against us, would he?

Still at work, so I don't have my books, but here are a few thoughts.
I do have plans for Lady Janas, but don't let that deter a change if you want to play something else. Now would be the time.
If you want to make Lady Janas and the party more combat savvy, maybe check out some archer type PrC or multi-class with rogue. With her dexterity and a selection of particular feats, she could be a great ranged combatant. Mix that in with some enchantment spells to make your enemies standing targets, she could be dangerous.
If you are worried about undead, WELL YOU SHOULD BE:)
You can always grab some vials of holy water or the like.
Just my thoughts

Again thanks for the thoughts - Utak. One other alternative is to take alternate levels of swashbuckler. That would beef her up and since it is based on high dex (weapon finesse), high Int and high Cha then she has a chance of doing OK.
Your spoiler would definitely come into play, however I'll wait and see what everyone else thinks over the next day or so.
Cheers

I would suggest that the more social beguiler would be much handier in the long run in a PbP. Combat is not, nor should it be, the focus of a PbP.
Specifically, if you fear undead, look into undead empathy which lets you use diplomacy against the deadites

Where is that, Dragonmann? Will it let me talk a ghoul out of an unhealthly elven snack? If so, it sounds great.

Utak:
Basic outline I have come up with for the prestige class:
Prerequisite: halfling, spontaneous cast 2nd level arcane spells, armored caster, spell focus (evocation), weapon focus (ranged spells or touch spells)
5 levels, rogue attacks, all good saves (or all bad with an improvement on the halfling bonus to all saves)
Class skills as warmage + hide, move silently, spot, listen, and survival
4-6 skill points per level
1d6 hp
level 1 - rank (see below) bonus feat tracking
level 2 - Horror hunter
level 3 - ranged magic specialization
level 4 - Master horror hunter
level 5 - Blood fueled magic
rank, add class level to diplomacy with other halflings and add class level to intimidate "night horrors"
Horror hunter favored enemy "night horrors"
ranged magic specialization (+2 damage with all offensive ranged spells, ie magical weapon specialization)
master horror hunter: adds favored enemy bonus to spell damage, save DC, and
Blood fueled magic - caster may choose to take damage to cast aditional spells per day. 2 hp / spell level (DC15+spell level fortitude for half damage)
spell progression is either full, or 1 3 5, not sure of balance yet. It is very focused and powerful, i think to get full progression i would need more penalties.
And we need to fully define the "night horrors" goblinoids becomes obsolete in most high level games, and since I won't qualify until 4th or 5th...

Unfortunately I don't have that book. However undead aside, what is your view on our eight man team?
Cheers
I think a knight a cleric a druid and a ranger should be able to lay down a bunch of whompum, and 2 sneak attackers to support them helps a lot. I think we are fine...
But make sure YOU play something you enjoy. If your character isn't what you want, try something else.

Dragonmann,
Re: the horrors
I know what races are the masters of the goblins and "The Vines" for that matter. Since this won't come into play until 5th level, would it suffice to say that these horrors were only mentioned in inscriptions at this point. By third level, the campaign will probably meet this new nemesis. This will give you 2 levels to train on proper fighting techniques. What do you think?
By the way, I really respect your knowledge of the game, creativity, and your game enthusiasm. So please throw critisms and suggestions my way. I have to be honest until your Stormreach game, I was only a lurker on the boards, and I havn't truely played for about 2 years. This is my first attempt to DM in a very long time, and with this many players it is challenging, but also a lot of fun. Basically, any advice that comes to mind as I am ripping off posts to the players is always welcome.
Cheers

okay, so i have been gaming for 18 years, and have seen a lot. I am also an aspiring author, so it helps me to stretch myself wheneve i can.
I worry about making the PrC too powerful, because I am writing it for myself. I tried to make sure tha I will not meet the prereqs automatically just by leveling, but it is still pretty much exactly what I want.
I would suggest that you make any initial tweaks, then stick it in the main d&d forum here for review.

Ok question. How much longer til we are playing the actual adventure? Also how, when, when are we going to meet up in the campaign? Just wondering. I really interested in seeing what the adventure is like.
I see where you are coming from. Currently you are probably feeling left out.
Your character came into the group later on into this PbP. By this time, I had ideas for the other characters and we were basically on our way. What I am trying to do is create a dynamic world where the PC actions effect things. The plan I had to start the adventure has changed. The PC's actions dictated this, and for some PCs, the adventure has already begun.
I must admit, I am having trouble integrating you character. I will need your assistance for your character to get involved. An event will happen that will bring everyone together, but the current events of the game are dictating certain actions and stalling / changing the planned start of the actual adventure.
Since I am having trouble involving your character, I have been making an attempt to keep you busy. I guess my attempt is failing. Sorry about that. The only thing I can really suggest is to set a short-term goal for your character. Something she needs/wants within the next few game hours. Maybe she has a reason to be at the mill that was not detailed in her background. I am not saying to force the story, but I do want you to be involved. I just need help.

An alternative plan for Ava would be to stub a narrative together, and wander into the tavern with Lady Janas and Dardin in the slightly future universe.
Simple as: "digunted by the human's tendency to wander about thinking with the head below their shoulders, Ava finds a shadowy spot and changes herself for himself. Another few hours of getting a feel for the town and she decides to return to the inn, just in time to see a halfling getting rather loud about little demons and such..."
In a couple sentences you find your way off a dead end path and back to (some of) the group

you may have bitten off more than you want to chew with a very strongly personalitied halfling... let me know if you want Dardin toned down a bit
Oh an because I can't stand to have a pun go unnoticed:

Nice.
Actually, I really like Dardin. By giving me a challenge, I can either give up or get better, and I am not a quiter.
