Where is Ms or Mrs Wahine originally from?

Yesterday was my birthday, I made 39 years old.
tommorrow I visit my relatives on Oahu. We will celebrate my birthday with a bottle of Don Julio. heheheh.
Oh and next week the most wonderful women in the world returns from America and I get to see her again.

Love, live and always loot the bodies.

Nani Wahine went to high school near Great Falls MT and I grew up in Nye MT (very small town, consists of a bar and post office...not kidding)

Aaaa I just looked at your profile and you were probably inquiring about her name. Her real name is Hawaiian too but her parents just thought it sounded good she has mostly German and English blood.

Never send a man to do a womans job. I am Montana born and bred but the easiest way to explain my real name, Keani is my parents were pot head hippies. Hey so since you live there and all will you please tell me what Keani actually means. You wouldn't believe what I have been told. As for Nani Wahine. Well I assume that you know what it means so that explains why I picked it.

Ah! Harry Potter! Ah! Ah! Ah!

So, my book should get here today and then my ma and I are going to go see the movie again. So excited and nervous!

I'm posting from a public library, soon to be going to the Harry Potter movie. Hopefully it'll be good.

Oh, it is. It totally is. My friend saw it at the IMAX and said it was pretty amazing but I saw it at a low quality local theater, which was equally as awesome.

In the past I haven't enjoyed the Harry Potter movies that much but this one was very good. I thought that it did an excellant job telling the story. I especially liked the supporting cast of characters. It seems like in the past the movies have been a little disjointed and have missed a lot of the nuances of the book but this one caught a lot of those little details. All in all it was a pretty good movie. I don't usually like adaptations of a book (don't get me started on the Eragon movie) but aside from the Lord of the Rings trilogy this is the only one I'd be happy to see again.

Liberty's Edge

We went and saw the movie last week and we liked it. Bought our books Friday night at midnight and started reading last night. I read faster than Dreamweaver so I finished at 2 this morning, however I have to wait for him to finish before I can talk to him about it. It is hard to sit here and wait.....

Good Things:

I just have a weekend of playing AD&D2 behind me (got to play my new half orc fighter with STR 19 and CON 19, Yay!!), and I updated my profile.

1. Getting woke up at 7:15am Saturday morning by UPS meant I got to read Harry Potter first. Just finished and wife is excitedly reading.
2. Going to Silverleaf Renfest yesterday, even if it was a bit disappointing. I miss Maryland Ren!
3. No meeting in the morning means I might actually get caught up on the play by post and some other work that desparately needs doing.
4. Gaming for the Homebrew campaign tomorrow night. Man those bluespawn stormlizards were tough last week! (Right Magnus? :)

Had a fantastic visit with my little brother, even got a little gaming time in with him. Now I'm packing up the kids for their three week stay with all my family in Washington (deep breaths, I can do this) they leave at 6:00 am. Mother in law bought me the new Harry Potter book, can't wait to start it. Hubby and I are going on an overnight trip to San Francisco tomorrow. Geez, lots of good things today :)

Picking up the copy of "Shattered Gates of Slaughterguarde" I ordered via Amazon last wednesday after Lilith provided pointers to it. It was sold as damaged, and the outer cover has some creases which don´t make it any less usable - the creases would have been unaviodable anyway, with the booklets not filling the cover to the edge. And I got it for 13 or so Euros including shipping.

Husband finally finished Harry Potter so I was able to talk to him about it YEA! I waited over 12 hours for him to finish and I thought I would burst.

* Had a great time at the golf scramble with Dreamweavers work (everyone loves to drive a golf cart while the free beer cart comes around)

* Won a prize for longest womans putt

* Won a prize for losing the most balls 27 yea four drunk people and water hazards don't mix well.

* Floated the river without kids and drank more beer. Ah nice and relaxing.

* Mowed the lawn without the baby sitting on my lap and am now going to drive 3 hours round trip to picked them up. I have missed them

* Got a new random job that will be 10 hours week but get paid for 15. Brings home 600/mth before taxes. Can not complain

Tomorrow is my last day at this frackin' office. Thank Pelor.

Post interview report:

I am actually 1 of 3 remaining candidates, I was the second to be interviewed (I HATE HEADHUNTERS!!!) anyway

got to my 1 pm interview at 12:45, they were late (kudos for me, i think)

spent over an hour with each of the 3 guys that interviewed me, and was told by the company owner "personally I really like you"

last candidate interviews tomorrow, hoping to get an offer by end of week...

HATE WAITING

I just found a copy of the Sharn book on Amazon for $8.99, including shipping!

I had to get an abdominal ultrasound today because I've been getting hell bad stomach cramps after I eat sometimes. Turns out I have gallstones, so I'm really relieved it wasn't something more serious.

Plus I wandered into my FLGS and there was a table with dozens of 3rd party D20 books on it marked "Hardcovers $10 softcovers $5." I got Mongoose's Slaine RPG and an Elric RPG for 15 bucks (normally $130 the pair).

In the immortal words of Ice Cube, today was a good day.

I ordered my laptop yesterday! YAY!!!

Liberty's Edge

D1 arrived yesterday. With a pack of item cards! Yay! And my wife has finished nearly a 1/3 of HP7, soon I will be able to read it!

SCAP starts tonight! (now if only I can get some time to finish the prep today...)

Paizo Employee Director of Narrative

I got my copy of D1 today in the mail.

As a bonus happy-happy joy-joy, my Gen Con pass came today too.

I scored big-time at a local used bookstore last night! My wife went to pick up a book about Tarot and, of course, I drifted my way over to the RPG section just out of habit.

I present to you, the loot:

  • Forgotten Realms: Faiths & Pantheons (3.0)
  • Wraith Player's Guide (White Wolf, out-of-print)
  • Scion: Hero RPG

Total price for all 3? $41. Not too shabby. :)

SCORE!

Was it first edition Wraith (incredibly interesting but completely unplayable), or second edition (also fascinating and slightly less unplayable)?

Second Edition. The one with Mnemosys and Flux in it, as well as all the Wraith Merits and Flaws.

I've wanted to run a Wraith game for the better part of a decade now. My friends always look at the game, I tell them about how it works, and they're like "Ehhh... it sounds emo."

Tell'em that it predates emo by about ten years. Back then, we called it Goth.

But... yeah... it's pretty much emo. This, however, totally endears it to me. YMMV, of course.

I completely understand. I wore a black leather trenchcoat in Arizona when I was in college. And I dyed my hair black for a year straight.

A Good Thing for everyone!

Fatey, Scion is AMAZING- I'd love to play by post that one some time, if you will.

I just got back from Otakon in Baltimore, MD. It was wonderful. I met Peter S. Beagle, (and took a picture with him!!!!) author of The Last Unicorn, who is fighting for the rights to his own work. I went to two raves (bringing my total number of raves up to three), and bought over a thousand dollars worth of merchandise. I didn’t think it could get any better than this.

When I returned to Brooklyn, I immediately went to visit a friend of mine who is in the hospital(I believe I mentioned her earlier on this thread- her condition has worsened since the last post). She was on Paxil and an anticonvulsive drug the name of which slips my mind now. As I spent the afternoon with her, I realized just how bad a shape she was in. I am very familiar with the type of medication she is on and I knew the side effects could be harsh, but her short term memory was almost completely eradicated. She had trouble remembering that she was in the hospital as opposed to home, who her nurses were, that I was showing her pictures on a camera phone, everything. It was like spending time with my long lost grandmother, only the woman who was with me was but 32 years old. I thought back to my awesome weekend and the good time I had. At that moment, it seemed so hollow. I would give it all away- even the part where drunk girls showed up at our room two nights in a row- to have my friend back.

Perhaps a ghaele or astral deva was listening. My phone had a glitch of some sort, and three of my favorite pictures from the con disappeared. I was dismayed to say the least, and I must have had some strange look on my face or something because my friend started laughing. Not the distorted giggle of the highly medicated that I see on a daily basis, but genuine laughter. I started laughing too, and we started to get into a deep conversation. We spoke of her fears of a living a medicated life and of my fears of her possibly committing suicide (she’s in the psych ward due to suicidal ideation, although she did not enter the hospital under those circumstances). I educated her on how to deal with side effects of Paxil (the loss of libido is a real bummer), and she educated me on what feeling suicidal depressed feels like. Somewhere in the middle of all of our deep and rather dark conversation she just...came out of it. Her sentences became more coherent. Her words became longer. Her jokes became dirtier. She was actually able to walk me to the door when visiting hours were over. Three pictures for a friend returned to health, if only for an afternoon. Not a bad trade, all things considered.

I would join if you decided to start one up, but it seems like it might be a tough one to do in PbP format.

Well I just found out that I will get to use some of favorite new beasties from the Monster Manual V in a campaign I'm starting soon.

I found the Draconomicon at a used book store for only twenty bucks...and I had a ton of in-store credit. Good condition too, just a few scratches on the back cover.

I'm home alone a lot this week, so I can play my guitar almost as loud as I want. (Not too loud...just in case the neighbors don't like the sound of Trogdor at 12:30 in the morning.)

It is about damn time! Now get back to work, slave! We expect better out of you next time! ~winks~

1. Intro session (Session 0, if you will) for SCAP went pretty well last night and the future looks promising for the group.
2. Asked back for a face to face interview as one of the final 3 candidates for a job I really really really want and need. (Sadly, I'm not holding out much hope as I seem to always get to this point only to be told I am 'almost' perfect for the job but someone else is 'just right'. Grr.) *sigh* Now the waiting begins anew.
3. May be able to spend a good portion of the weekend on D&D prep as I need to considering I am currently running 3 PnP games.
4. Won a little bit of money twice this week at bowling.

Congrats!

Also, some good news for me, we found out this week that my wife is not pregnant and that she just had some kind of weird stomach flu (which she has since recovered from).

(One child is enough for me right now, thanks.)

Going to one of my player's group show tonight for his photography stuff. Afterwords: SIMPSONS MOVIE!! With a GIRL?!

Another session of my Styes campaign tomorrow.

Dogsitting my sisters' dauscheund next weekend in Park Slope Brooklyn, taking the opportunity to enjoy the city for a little while again. Family vacation to Vermont the weekend after.

AND I have to somehow get a painting done for the Wheel of Time calendar competition by August 15th during all of this.

Hokay. Just finished moving over the last of my stuff that I don't need the moving van for. I'm unofficially moved in to my fiancee's place- shacking up, according to my eternally frowning mother, but we're making it legal in less than year. I'm not sure when I'll be posting again, as we don't have internet. Hope to see everyone again before I get my last issues of Dragon and Dungeon.
