It takes two flaskes of alchemist's fire to cauterize all seven heads.

Ashur, you and Jed round the corner to see Dahak smashing the heads of a large, seven-headed, reptilian beast into a pulp. Myrkar is picking the ninja up off the ground, and Revan is going behind Dahak, pouring Alchemist Fire on the stumps.

Masculin Personality Warforged Barbarian 7

You forgot to mention the singing

M Elf Druid3/Monk3

Coming up on the scene "Great gods, what happened here? Oh, well, actually, that's pretty clear. Is anyone in need of healing, I am capable in that."

I have some cure light potions and goodberry scrolls, and my prepared spells shall be as follows:
0-Know direction, Detect Poison, Purify food and drink, Resistance
1-Entangle, Cure Light wounds, Priduce Flame

If someone is hurt, I shall decide which items to use on them, if not I will examine the area for signs that this creature had any struggles territory wise with another large creature. Survival 11+11=22, that looks good but may not get me anything.

Masculin Personality Warforged Barbarian 7

When my rage subsides:

"That one is in need of reassembly," Indicating the ninja. Meanwhile I seem oblivious to the small trail of bubbling oil being left in my own wake.

M Elf Druid3/Monk3

Hm, I'll see what I can do.
I cast Cure Light on the guy and then use one of my Goodberry scrolls. Total of 11 hp healed... Anyone else cast healing?

Laucian is now at 16 hp. Anybody want to look in the cave behind the water fall?

Masculin Personality Warforged Barbarian 7

"This not dragon... me go look for dragon..."

I wander further into the cave

I sigh and follow the warforged, looking around at the cave for anything of interest.
Spot 13

Male Elf Monk4/Ninja3

Very cool guy's, I'm at 1/2 HP.

Alright i'll look behing the falls

Laucian takes a deep breath and plunges through the falls

STR check = 15+1=16

Male Human Rogue 4 / Wizard 3

I take one last nervous glance at the creature, half expecting it to get back up, and then follow the others into the cave.

Uhh..., you don't need the STR check if you walk around behind the waterfall.

The cave is dark and damp (being behind a water fall). Sitting in the middle of the room is a stack of wooden crates.

Laucian and Ashur, make Search checks.

M Elf Druid3/Monk3

Search: 14+2=16

"Be careful, this cave may be home to further dangers. You, Laucian, should be especially wary, as you are still injured."

Ashur, in each of the three crates, you find two back packs bearing HHH in large letters.

"Hmmm. Interesting. What acronym is this?" Anyone have know (local)? I don't, so I can't be of help here. "I do not wish to open these until we have an idea of what they might contain."

Liberty's Edge

Male Engineer Geek 6/Engineer 5/Engineseer 1

What are Heathens, Houseguests, and Hags... Things that stink for 2000gp Alex

Still waiting on Laucian's Search check.

Know(arcana) to recognize the acronym.

I'm making Laucian's Search check for him.
Search Check (1d20+8=25)

Laucian walks over to the wall of the cave, "Hey, there's something here. It looks like a door, but I don't see a way to get it open."

Masculin Personality Warforged Barbarian 7

"Barsh?"

I wander over to the indicated door, and hit it with a maxed out power attack.

AC 16, 24 damage

Assuming the door shows signs of damage, "BARSH!!!" I yell happily, and continue thumping on the door until it is no more.

M Elf Druid3/Monk3

*sighs at the warforged's antics* "Could we not simply have checked first to see if there was a lock. Oh, well, it's open now... Let us try at least to be more wary and quieter in this new place, bashing down doors is hardly either."

"Have you some malady, you seem to be leaking air."

"And what is a lock? And why should we be quiet?"

The "door" seems to be made of solid stone. Dahak's blows hardly scratch the surface.

Masculin Personality Warforged Barbarian 7

**Boggle**

M Elf Druid3/Monk3

"Perhaps now that you have made the racket with the steel-on-stone, we can force it open more quietly. I am not an expert on doors, but if we can figure out in which direction it opens (in/out, if it is the kind of stone door I'm thinking of, perhaps even which side), then we can move it more effectively."

Search? 8+2=10. Woot. If the door has clear hinges or some other clue that would give us the information, disregard this whole bit.

m human Fighter 5 / Vigilante 1

*doik*
This is still the side quest. Ah, well...
See you in a few weeks.

Male Human Rogue 4 / Wizard 3

Clueless as to the true nature of the arcane symbols on the backpack, I step up to the plate and begin my own thorough search of the area, hoping to find some clue, or trigger, or perhaps something more sinister.

Booyah! Natural 20. Search check: 29

There are no hinges, knobs, keyholes, or traps on the door.

Male Elf Monk4/Ninja3

Thanks Vissgoth for NPCing me! Mom's going crazy, and almost never off the internet.
I'll make another check to determine the direction the door opens.
Search check 10+8=18

Male Human Rogue 4 / Wizard 3

"Hrm, no obvious physical components. No knobs, switches or gears that I can find." I say to no one in particular. "Enchanted perhaps? Opened via keyword? Though I don't wager to know how tall dark and scaley would use it in that case."

Masculin Personality Warforged Barbarian 7

"More Barsh?" I ask, raising an imaginary eyebrow.

"I don't think that the door was meant for the hydra. I'm guessing that the hydra was a guardian of some type and was never intended to use the door." I look at the door to see if I can find anything useful or remember anything from my arcane studies about such doors. After a moment of looking I concentrate for a moment with closed eyes and then look around again.
Search 20 (18+2) Knowledge (Arcana) 13 (8+5). Using my Detect Magic special ability.

Myrkar

Spoiler:

You see a moderate conjuration aura emanating from the bags. The auras are being draw to the "door". The "door" seems to be sucking the magic from the bags. Any other magic items the PCs are carrying seem to be effected in the same way.
The door emits no aura, but you now see silvery writing carved into the stone.
Do you read Draconic? Was the Know(arcana) directed at the door or the bags?

It was on the door. Knowledge (Arcana) 15 (10+5) on the bags.
"Everyone get away from the door! My spell revealed that it looks like the door is sucking magic into itself from our possession and those bags!" I say as I step a few feet back and then begin to study the bags.

Male Elf Monk4/Ninja3

Thanks for the warning Mykar!
Laucian, hearing Mykars shout, back hurriedly away from the door not wanting to lose any more of his precious flesh.

Myrkar

Spoiler:
The bags are Hevard's Handy Haversacks.

Masculin Personality Warforged Barbarian 7

"Magic in bags?"

I begin dupming any contents out of the bags, and rooting through.

I sigh and say "Yes, there might be magic in the bags but the bags themselves are magical. They allow you to carry more than is usually possible in a backpack." as I look through the bags with somewhat more delicacy than Dahak.
Search 17 (17+0)

Male Elf Monk4/Ninja3

I'll make a knowledge arcana check, try to help the people who healed me ;-)
10+0 = 10 Arg, not very good, but awell thats how the dice roll!

All six bags are full of exotic furs and skins from a variety of strange creatures.

For Myrkar

Spoiler:
Make a Decipher Script check (you can make this one untrained if need be) to see if you can copy the runes in the dirt, or on a scrap of paper so someone else can read them.

Male Elf Monk4/Ninja3

Cool! I wonder what creatures they are from? Knowledge nature 16+0 = 16.

Decipher Script (untrained) 3 (1+2). Nevermind

*cough*take20*cough*

I always forget I can do that! Am I allowed a retry? If so Decipher Script (untrained) 22 (20+2, taking 20) Thanks for reminding me.

m human Fighter 5 / Vigilante 1

This is still the side quest, right?

Yes, its still the side quest.

M Elf Druid3/Monk3

"Hmmm. The door is absorbing magic from these bags that hold objects in a special, extra-dimensional space, perhaps... Myrkar, does the door seem to absorb only the energies, or take on the qualities of the magic it absorbs?" Also, I cast some healing in the vicinity of the door, yes? Did it appear to have any effect on divine magic?

"I don't know. It looked like it was just absorbing the magic but I'll take anotehr look." I say as I look at the doors again with my arcane sight and try to determine the answer the his question.
Using Detect Magic Spellcraft (if necassary) 19 (8+11) Spot (if necassary) 18 (18+0) Search (if necassary) 7 (7+0) Knowledge (Arcana) (if necassary) 17 (12+5)

Hey guys, I won't be able to post again til Saturday. I have to go into work early all week. Sorry.

no problemo! thanks for telling us.

Male Human Rogue 4 / Wizard 3

"Well now," I say to nobody in particular. "With a spell like that guarding the door, there's gotta be something damn impressive on the other side!"

I'm fairly certain that anyone who happens to be looking at me can see that I'm practically drooling with the possibilities. I don't pay it any mind though, as my weakness for loot has overriden my composure.

I stop for a moment, thinking. After a time, I examine the furs that Dahak has casually strewn about the cave floor to see if there is anything unusual about them.
