mark of death questions
is there any ideas on what the abilities are ?

or abberent mark abilities like what is the highest lvl spells they can be ....

and do drows get marks....since they are elves...or any other races get marks ...be they be monster or sub-races....

can anyone help me with this....

As the Mark of Death is concerned, I don't know of any of its abilities, sorry - I think it's meant to be a DM fiat to do what you will with it.

As far as drow are concerned, no, they do not get dragonmarks, as dragonmarks didn't start appearing until well after the elves had rebelled against their giant slavemasters. No monster races get dragonmarks either, just the ones presented in the Eberron Campaign Setting.

Of course, this is all subject to change depending on the DM's mood.

My thoughts on the Mark of Death (trying to keep in it balance with other marks):

Least - Death Knell 1/day
Lesser - Ghoul Touch 1/day
Greater - Slay Living 1/day
Sibrys - Wail of the Banshee 1/day

I believe this is in balance with the other marks, but I don't have the books to check myself. The Greater mark might be a bit potent. Also, I'm PRETTY sure there's only 4 Dragonmark ranks...

Also, I'm pretty sure that Aberrant marks are limited to 1st or 0-level spells (though 0-levels can often be used more than once per day).

Mark of Death abilities are not published as of yet. A lot of people have different visions of it, so DM fiat is your best bet.

For aberrant marks and their powerlevel, look at the dragonmarked book. It adds a similar progression for aberrant marks as there is for standard marks, in addition to a metric-but-tonne of other dragon mark feats.

On the same line, dragonmarked introduces the mixed mark, which has the abilities and shape of an aberrant mark, but the coloration of a true mark. It is the result of interbreeding between marked families.

In regards to subraces in general and marks - according to Keith somewhere, probably one of the dragonshard articles, subraces cannot manifest true marks, but they can have aberrant marks, exceedingly rarely.

None of the PC sub races (deep gones, dark elves, etc) get dragonmarks. I'm sure I've read this in one of the official forums or sage advice somewhere but it escapes me as to where.

I think Fatespinner is on to a good thing with his Mark of Death options although I'd probably add Enervation 2/day as an option for the Greater Mark and Ray of Exhaustion (range touch) for the Lesser Mark.

Liberty's Edge

The Marked for Death trilogy has a character with the mark of death. She can kill people by touching them and she sometimes kills people while sleep walking or by dreaming about them (the book wasn't really clear on this). Her mark is small enough to fit between her shoulder blades, so I doubt it's bigger than a lesser mark.

I don't know if these books are cannon or not, but it says that the only people known to have the mark of death are Vol and Espre.

The powers she has probably wouldn't work well in the game, but Fatespinner's mark looks good and balanced.

Mostly because the only person with the Mark can't use it (being undead). I think the intent is that it should be treated as a MacGuffin in most games that want to have it "return."

Slightly off topic....

Any body care to speculate what Daine's (from the Dreaming Dark trilogy) new mark is?

Ok, so way off topic.
